Reviewed By DavidD8534We enjoyed a lovely, safe, short holiday at this family run and well managed hotel. spotlessly clean and Covid safe. The hotel is very comfortable in a great location with the option of the pool, the beach, the local Port or fabulous walks and cycle rides at hand. Our hosts were very attentive and helpful at all times. We enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing holiday - we will return.

Great location and tranquil surroundings
Reviewed By DavidgjsExcellent location. Easy walk into town (La Cotiniere) and just across road from beach. Breakfast was good without being exceptional. Swimming pool area very quiet and well maintained. Parking good with secure area for bicycles. Our room on second floor had amazing view of the sea and nice privacy for eating al fresco on terrace. Really superb cycling path to all parts of island passes by just across road. Very tranquil island and lovely local town. Recommend!

Disappointing dinner
Reviewed By judigee86We have had lunch at this restaurant several times and the seafood has been excellent, so we thought we would try an evening meal. First, a dirty glass on the table with remaining lipstick traces was not a good start. Then the menu was uninspiring, so we went a la carte. A starter of cold shredded skate was served on top of a gésiers salad - a mistake I assume as the gésiers salad was a different starter. The skate itself was fine and on a simple salad would have been very tasty, but the gésiers overpowered it. A main course of sea bass with 3 peppers was not, as I had anticipated, sea bass roasted with 3 different peppercorns ground on top, but it was served with a 3 pepper sauce (from a packet - I use the same sauce myself with a steak) which was far too hot to go with the subtle flavors of the sea bass. The sea bass was well cooked and absolutely fine - on its own, sauce untouched. - but a chef who thinks such a sauce is appropriate with such a fish has a lot to learn. The redeeming feature was the Cafe Gourmand for dessert - this was truly fabulous, one of the best I have had, and the only thing that saved this restaurant from a 1 star rating. We will not be going back for dinner for a while. Disappointing

Reviewed By 842lyndasLovely weekend. M et Mme were friendly and very helpful. Would definitely return to this well appointed hotel. We had our small dog with us and they were happy to accommodate him. The hotel is perfectly placed to enjoy the restaurants and shops of St Pierre.

Good location but a little dated
Reviewed By daffystjobThis hotel is in a pretty decent location, there's a beach within easy reach and walking into the centre is also a doddle. The room was big with an extra bed above the bathroom. The terrace was small but functional as we didn't really use it for sunbathing. The room is clean, tidy and functional although it feels a touch outdated, this isn't a problem for us though. The pool area is pretty good, there were always enough chairs and parasols for all the guests. We opted for a breakfast on one of the days, there was plenty of food to choose from and of good quality. This hotel also offers parking which is very helpful in this area.

Quiet hotel, excellent breakfast, great swimming pool, clean rooms and very correct for your vacation in Oléron and Beach. Everything perfect as every year. Once again, thank the Hotel Manager Vanessa and her family for the great kindness and excellent service they offer to customers. We will return without hesitation to Les Jardins d'Oleron! Monica

pleasant friendly smallish campsite
Reviewed By Eleanor SWe stayed here for 9 nights in July/August. The management were very friendly and helpful. The pitches were a little small for a twin axle, but ok. Facilities were clean and fairly plentiful, although the showers could have a queue early evening. We were expecting direct access to the sea from the campsite but this is not actually the case. Around 15-20 min walk to busy town of Cotiniere but other than that only one restaurant very close, so you have to book. Overall a pleasant stay

Reviewed By 55Steelman55It is a peaceful location, 150 metres from the beach, the pool area had plenty of beds and seats. Continental breakfast was plentiful, fresh and good. The shower was a bit temperamental. Staff were very helpful in making restaurant reservations and suggestions for sight seeing. There is a very good restaurant about 300 metres away, but that`s it in terms of night time entertainment

Reviewed By JAN222Les Tranquilles is just that - a wonderfully designed and relaxing place to stay. The rooms are beautifully appointed. I always appreciate having a hot water boiler in a room for coffee, but our room also had a full set of paints, brushes and pastels with a blank canvas - now THAT'S hard to find! Guests are encouraged to create, and their creations are displayed in various places. Gaelle's breakfasts were the best I've had in France and always had something special added - creme caramel for example. There's a great outdoor seating area for relaxing or eating. La Cotiniere, a wonderful and bustling fishing village, is a few km down the road. Parking is free off season and ask at the tourisme about the tour to see the fish auction in action (Fridays at 3 this time of year). Although it was in French, it was still something worth seeing.

The hostess was very friendly, and our room beautiful with a very pleasant seaside-nautical theme. Nice big room (blue room) and bathroom, kitchen access with fridge, TV in common room. Private entrance. Secure parking. Heated tile floors! Nice greeting. She left us glasses of pineau charante and small bowl crackers the first evening. There are some tea bags available & some little treats. Free wifi (worked intermittently). Pretty and private view out to vineyards. Even though situated a few miles from the sea can hear the sea with the door open! Is typically very quiet in the room but you can hear distinctly when someone is the kitchen/TV room. Breakfast was nice - the typical things plus a packaged fruit puree, a cake or madeleines or a chocolatey thing in a tiny box which was delicious. The hostess is very kind - we had a 'nice talk' but only in French. Good location to explore Ile d'Oleron.
