Our Romantic Cabins have open vaulted ceilings, Knotty Pine Interiors, Doubled Sided Gas Fireplace, 180 degree swivel TV/DVD, 2 Person Whirlpools and Private Decks. Reviewed By deborahoA8698MGWe returned for another stay at Shadow Mountain. It is an absolutely great place! Very cute mountain decor. Room area for relaxing and great fireplace. Big window to see outside. Pet friendly with very convenient area for walks. We have stayed here many times and enjoy our stay each time. Priced right. We like television and do not like the Roku - that’s our only complaint. We had nightly deer visits each night.

Not a resort, just a hotel
Reviewed By Jaci JWe chose this hotel over the Inn of the Mountain Gods based on a few things; other people’s reviews, the promise of great views from the room, the comfy beds, and the luxury bathtub. However, our view was of the backside of the convention center, the beds were less than comfortable, and the bathtub took 20 minutes to fill up. The air conditioner was on and off all night, which was terribly loud and woke us up each time. They have a bar, but we could never tell when it was open because there were no bartenders around when we were around. Then, when we went to check out early, instead of refunding our money they “accidentally” charged us for 2 more nights, so now we are out over $800 just waiting for our money to be credited back to us. I will say, though, the man doing the breakfast is very kind and helpful! That part was great. If you’re looking for just a hotel room, this works. If you’re looking for a resort experience, I’d make your way down the street.

Reviewed By mfsinmoWe spent almost a week here in April. Room was comfortable with microwave and refrigerator. As one commentator said, room could use better lighting, but lighting was adequate and everything else was so good that this was easily overlooked. Bathroom had large shower with fresh smelling soaps and thick towels. Room windows opened to a shaded courtyard with picnic tables, several benches and other seating areas that we enjoyed plus a sauna that looked good, too.. Every morning, 3 types of freshly made muffins and high quality flavorful coffee were available in the lobby area. Staff were all pleasant. Parking lot was very convenient for access to our room. Inn decor was unique, pleasant with a ski emphasis. Bonus: prices were reasonable, windows opened to a pleasant hallway and outside, and inn had a great ice machine. We would choose this Inn again.

Awesome deal in expensive Ruidoso!
Reviewed By jaranda2100Nice hotel, with an excellent breakfast, located on I-70 before you turn into Ruidoso. It is up the hill after the turn and next to an abandoned, old castle, so it makes for taking interesting walks the next morning. Even though we did not use it, they have an indoor, heated pool with a little water fall, which the kids that were swimming in it definitely enjoyed it.

Poor Housekeeping
Reviewed By ash002003After checking in and immediately opening the door to my room it was obvious that the room had not been serviced by housekeeping. Pizza boxes in the trash. Sheets all a mess. Wet and used bathroom towels. I approached the front desk and they said “Youre the second person to say that today. That room was supposed to be cleaned yesterday.” I have never in my entire life been checked into a room that hasn’t been cleaned. Fine, they gave me a new room. But the amount of hair that I discovered on the bed sheets in the new room was absolutely unsanitary… almost as if housekeeping just remakes the beds over and over after each guest without changing all of the sheets. Unfortunately I did not see the hair until the day I checked out but it was not my hair. I have long blonde hair… the hair I saw was short and black.

Average hotel with a fantastic location
Reviewed By Bruce WYou can easily walk to all the downtown shopping and restaurants from here. Hotel is showing its age but was clean enough. The pool is quite small and the 6 person spa had hair globs & other unidentified things floating in it. Room was decent, had a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The breakfast area was small but ok. Breakfast had waffles (one waffle maker), eggs, sausage or bacon, cereal and muffins. Would stay here for the location again.

Reviewed By Martha MThis is an older motel/hotel. There needs to be some general upkeep done, but overall it was very good. It was very clean, and the rooms were very comfortable. The tv was small for the room size. Breakfast was very nice, hot options, eggs, sausage, etc. people were very nice. Just an older property, but nice and clean!!!

Safe and Happy
Reviewed By SSPMLLCI noticed a lot of updates since I visited last - like new grills, Sofa beds and other things that made my return visit better. They really took care of me. Since I stayed for a week, they gave me a gift card to use around town to go shopping. Really kind people.
