Castilla Termal Burgo de Osma

This splendid and warm XVI century building, ancient University of Santa Catalina with its original plateresque facade and its Renaissance cloister, is the first real hostel 4 star in Castilla y Leon. The hotel has 70 rooms, cafeteria, restaurant, play room for children, Internet area, meeting rooms and banqueting rooms as well as indoor swimming-pool. It also has a thermal area under its Renaissance courtyard of around 1500m, with thermal pools, contrasts circuit and thermal treatments areas as usual in the hotels of the Castilla Termal chain. A magic place, having facilities and services of high quality ideal to relax, take care, do corporate events and personal celebrations. Charming corners ready to seduce you and the most advanced techniques applied to thermal treatments. An environment created to enjoy and relax. The hotel life has centred on its beautiful Renaissance courtyard enclosed by a glass dome and where the social life of the hotel takes place. Under the central courtyard are located the two floors of the spa, the play pool and the contrast circuit.

Very pleasant stay despite COVID restrictions

Reviewed By stevejnb

Clearly the hotel was doing everything it could to maintain a safe place to stay and we did feel safe. We had a huge room to accommodate 2 adults and a child. The beds were ultra comfortable and we had great shower pressure. The building is very old (15th century) but very well kept inside. Underground parking was a must and a very reasonable 7€ a night. The town of Burgo de Osma is lovely but seemed to lack restaurants. The restaurant in the hotel had great food but service was very disorganized. Overall I’d be happy to stay here again. I’m sure my experience would be even better without safety restrictions.

Good and bad location

Reviewed By jaimeelsabio

A modern looking Parador that more closely resembles a convention center than a hotel. It was very busy the day we arrived. In one sense it is in an ideal location at the top of a steep hill that affords guests with a great view of the surrounding area. The downside is, it is on the edge of town and one either needs to taxi Into town or drive in and find a parking spot if one wants to go into town or eat someplace other than the Parador. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. There are a couple nearby sights to visit (monastery and chapel). They have free parking. The room was nice but the room’s floor was well worn and needed refinishing. The breakfast buffet is typical of paradors with an assortment of meats, cheeses, breads, yogurt, and cooked items. On our current trip we’ve been eating one meal at the parador restaurants. At this Parador the dinner service was disappointing. The vegetable paella with seaweed was lackluster at best. The veal was nice but only came with a half potato and no vegetable. It was way overpriced for what it was. A side salad or even a vegetable would have been nice. Likewise, 2.3€ for a slice of bread was outrageous. I understand it is an upscale restaurant, but at least give patrons their money’s worth. There is free parking, but when the hotel is booked solid, a parking space can be difficult to find.

Good value

The check-in is a bit strange a- computer screen outside where you scan passport, booking forms and credit card to access key cards to enter. It felt a bit strange to have no-one at reception. On the plus side the room was clean and comfortable. The area is also a plus within reach of a main square. This is a place for an overnight stay only. There is no atmosphere and we saw no-one. But as a place to stay while making your way to the ferry it is very good value

Price wise very good.

This hotel was only used be a use it was a fair way out of town which suited us because we were told that Soria really has very little in the way of an old town so we decided to find a place to stay on our way to Santander. The hotel was rustic with a modern extension. The rooms were quiet and very clean and tidy, We would certainly stay there again if passing through.

I was not expecting much for 50 Euros. But the rooms are renovated and the service is friendly. Also the included breakfast was okay. And: best of all the accept dogs ( a giant problem in Spain) Just next to a gasoline station and a noisy Highway: it is not the Champs Elysee. And around the hotel lots of garbage.

Way more than a two-star hotel

Reviewed By Lam0ka

Although the hotel is rated with only two-stars, it certainly deserves more than that! The rooms, although compact, had all necessities and were clean and airy. My room was facing a very lively square, but the windows kept out all sound and the air-condition cooled the room nicely. Also staff was very friendly. I would definitely recommend staying in this hotel!

Fantastic room and service

Reviewed By Roburetto

We arrived at the hotel and did our check-in using the machine. It was a safe and fast process. The room was fresh as it had the air con on, something we appreciated after 3+ hours of driving at more than 30 outside temperature. The bed was comfortable, wifi worked ok and the TV had Netflix installed on it. Not that we used it, but I thought it was cool. Breakfast was included and it consisted of toasts with butter and jam, OJ, a piece of cake, and a delicious egg, served with coffee. Medinaceli is a really beautiful town and the Bavieca hotel is a perfect place to explore the city. You can park just outside the hotel at no extra charge.

Poor customer service

Reviewed By Katie C

I recently relocated to Spain and chose the Hostel Sercotel to stay in while I was looking for permanent accommodation here. The hostel is in a good location and the room was clean when I arrived. While the bedsheets were changed almost daily oftentimes they had stains on them from previous guests, and by the end of my stay the floors and surfaces had not been cleaned since I arrived so dust had built up. The main problem I have with this hotel and company is that one day when I was out a member of staff dropped my Macbook in my bedroom that had been left on the bedside table and caused considerable damage to it. When I brought this up at reception upon finding it, the woman was very unapologetic stating she would tell the other cleaner and told me there are ‘Chinese shops’ I could go to. I then contacted the main email address for this chain to ask for their insurance details and I have yet to have a response from them. This experience has caused me great distress during an already difficult time as I am now going to have to make a +200km round trip to a certified Apple Store to ensure my laptop is fixed by a certified engineer. All in all I am very disappointed by the experiences I have had with the staff and head office from this hotel as they have a blatant disregard for guests property and experiences. I would not recommend this hotel until they learn how to deal with problems they have created.
