If you want to use the pool and deck, call ahead to see if it will be open

Reviewed By Alaska T

The staff, room and food were all very good. I was however disappointed when they closed off the pool and swimming area, the day after a large group were enjoying both. I would recommend staying at this hotel, but call first to check on deck and pool if that is important to you. It looked very inviting, I just wish we could have used it.

Stunning building, good service

Reviewed By Minnou

Stayed here for 2 nights recently, mainly because we wanted to visit the Monfrague National Park, which is about a 45 minute drive from there. The parking arrangements are interesting – there is a car lift down to the garage which I would imagine some large 4x4 that wouldn’t fit into! Fortunately our car was fine but the parking sensors went mad! We had a superior room which was large, high ceilinged and had a separate sitting area with balcony. Very comfortable beds and spotlessly clean. The food was very good too - excellent friendly service, which we haven’t always enjoyed in Paradores.

NH Collection Caceres Palacio de Oquendo

The hotel NH Palacio de Oquendo is a charming hotel in Caceres, Spain, ideally located at the entrance to the ancient fortifications that still surround the historical city center. The central plaza, shopping, and business of Caceres are very close to the hotel and easy to access.

Beware of room 313 but otherwise a nice hotel.

There isn’t a window but there is a skylight without a shade/blind option, making the room very hot during the day and difficult to cool down at night. If I wanted to sleep in after the sunrise, I had to wear my eye mask. Even at night, the sky brightened the room. However, the location of the hotel is fantastic. The breakfast was excellent and the service great. The skylight issue should be an easy fix for the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay again.

Parador de Guadalupe

The Parador rises up on the original Hospital of St. John the Baptist and the Colegio de los Infantes , artistic historical buildings from the 15th century. A passing home for pilgrins and soldiers, in 1965 it adopted this objetive for the Network of Paradors. The eye-catching orchard which constitutes the garden its secluded swimming pool, colonnades and White walls , are in harmony with the spacious romos of the interior, the bedrooms of which recall the religious function of its origins. The capacity is precisely one of the fundamental attractions which the Guadalupe,Altamira and Mirabel romos reflect; although the wooden terraces, balconies and courtyard with portico reflect the quietness of its appearance. The simple local cooking is delicious, with representative dishes such as "bacaloa monacal" (cod, potatoes and spinach), "ajo blanco extremeno" (cold garlic soup), "migas extremenas" (fried breadcrumbs), "pollo a lo padre Pedro"(chiken),Iberian sausages, lamb stew, chestnut pudding and "muegado de Guadalupe"(fried sweet).

ClassicalbSpanish and Moorish architecture

Reviewed By FPWhitePlains

An unexpected pearl of Spanish architecture. The courtyard of orange and lemon trees was a wonder for the senses of sight and smell. Ripe fruit of bright orange and yellow with white blooms perfuming thé air with neroli. Corridors with remnants of former convent. Romantic frescoes including Franciscan priors pearing into the night. I was fortunate to have a suite that over looked the Spanish garden complète with a long rectangular pool whose sides were covered in blue, yellow and white azuelos. I felt like I was in the palace of a moorish prince.

Nice stay

Reviewed By asoc60763

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and Trujillo. I've stayed in tons of paradors over the years, with more of them offering unique ties to history and this is no exception. The one could use a refresh of the bathrooms, and the room could also benefit from better mattresses and have more electric outlets. Also, coming from Portugal, I found it disappointing that the pool was closed in mid-April (pools in Portugal are all open at this time and it is colder there). I also found there was a lot of noise from outside the hotel late on a Saturday night which interrupted my sleep several times (obviously not the hotel's fault). Nonetheless, a great experience that I would highly recommend in Trujillo.

A beautiful oasis

Reviewed By Angelika M

Out of the three places where we stayed during our trip through the Extremadura we liked the Parador in Jarandilla best. The location and the place itself is really special, with a large beautiful courtyard, close to (above) the town. It's a bit like an oasis when you come in, quiet and restful. We were happy with our room although it wasn't very spacious. It was in the new wing and had everything we needed except for an elevator and a tea/coffeemaker. The beds were super comfy, the view was beautiful, there was a little sitting corner, a TV and closet and the wifi worked well. The bathroom was very spacious with a nice tub and two sinks and bidet - just perfect. We dined at the restaurant twice and found the food delicious, with lots of local specialties to choose from. It's nice that the bar is almost always open for drinks and smaller snacks. The breakfast selection was very nice as well with local cheeses and lots of choices of fresh delicious things. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. There is convenient parking right by the hotel and we really enjoyed exploring the surroundings, including the Greda mountains, Valle del Jerte, Plasencia, the little villages and Yuste from there. We'd love to come back, hopefully soon!
