The 10 best hotels in Perth, Australia

August 11, 2022 Vergie Nakamoto

Perched on the banks of the wide Swan River, between the Indian Ocean and the sands of the Nullarbor Desert, Perth is one of the world's most isolated cities, yet still boasts an active beach scene and smokin’ nightlife. Family-friendly Cottesloe is brimming with swimmers, surfers and snorkelers. Head north to Scarborough for a spirited beachside club scene. Coo at cute marsupials on ferry-accessible Rottnest Island, and don’t miss the views from King's Park and Botanic Gardens.

Great hostel apart from ‘kitchen’

Reviewed By madisonfrain

Hostel beds are very comfy and the communal area is nice to chill in. The rooms are slightly small and not much space for luggage (very narrow). The ‘kitchen’ is an absolute joke. Very dirty and extremely limited utensils and cooking appliances. Hostel would be much better value for money if it had a proper kitchen

Great hotel… staffing issues.

Reviewed By lizleech

Really liked this hotel and in a great location for the city & surrounds. Great roof top bar and rooms very comfortable. However the lighting is very dark so very difficult to do hair & make up. They need lighted mirrors in the bathroom. Room itself was very light with large windows but the bathrooms are dark though very nicely kitted out. WA had not long been open and there are obviously staffing issues from check in to breakfast service. A 1 hour 15 minute wait for breakfast is not acceptable. Hopefully this will improve over time. Would stay again but please sort the lighting issue.

Comfortable Perth stay!

Reviewed By SuzieLee71

My friend and I shared an executive studio and we really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was well designed and modern with a small but well equipped kitchenette. The reception and housekeeping staff are super friendly and helpful and we were super impressed that the room was serviced daily (except for Sundays and public holidays) during a time when a lot of hotels and serviced apartments are not providing this service! It's close to the Mount Hospital and if you want to visit Kings Park, it's just in front of Jacob's Ladder (242 steps). The only issue is that there is no parking on site - we used a combination of the 1 hour metered street parking ($5 per hour and free on Sundays and public holidays) and the Wilson car parking station ($25 per 24 hours) a 10 minute walk away.

Wouldn't book again

Reviewed By Sabien84

It was okay. But wouldn't stay there again. Booked a room with "panoramic views of the Swan River" Our direct view was of the novotel hotel across the road. Side view was the river. Everything but "panoramic" Room it self was okay. Nothing spectacular. Same as the bed. Pillows where great though! Our room was one of those room that can be connected to a room next door. And you can hear everything. I could hear their phone conversations, their midnight laughter and their 6am phone alarm. Would I recommend it: No. Would I book again: not for that price!

Mediocre staycation

Reviewed By Glen T

Spent two nights here over the long weekend for a city-based staycation. This was our fourth stay at the property and easily the most mediocre experience we’ve had. We booked a standard king room with Club Intercontinental Access. As I have have IHG status we were given an upgrade to a City View room on the top floor. This was a nice perk. It seems like the hotel is not fully operational as the Club Lounge on the 16th floor is closed and all Club-based activities took place in the hotel’s two Spanish themed restaurants. There also seemed to be a shortage of staff and those who were working mostly seemed like they were inexperienced. The only person who was really driving the show is Savas who has looked after us very well on our previous visits. It was nice to have him looking after us again. He’s an amazing asset to the Hotel. The biggest disappointment for us centred on the food and beverage and service at breakfast. Both mornings we had breakfast we struggled to get a coffee and when we did it wasn’t up to scratch. The second morning left us surrounded by dirty dishes which were not being cleared and we had to track down someone to order another coffee. When the coffee did arrive it was almost cold. This really isn’t what you’d expect in terms of 5 star service. I had much better service and far better standard of food and beverage at the Crowne Plaza in Darling Harbour a couple of weeks ago, and this is a lower standard hotel of the same group. Another disappointment was that the high teas have been reimagined into a Spanish theme and for us, didn’t really hit the mark and were nowhere near as nice as they used to be. In fact, we couldn’t eat the top row of sweets as they were really disappointing. The tapas served with drinks were fairly average, and again, nowhere as nice as the canapes that used to be served in the Club Lounge. Positives - Our room was nice and was kept spotlessly clean during our stay. We like the fact you get a Nespresso machine and real milk to make coffee in the morning. We found what looked like a new mattress to be painfully firm which meant we didn’t have a good rest which is a bit of a shame as that was the main objective of the stay. Based on our experience and what we paid we’d be reluctant to stay a fifth time.
