THE place to stay near Yosemite

What a great property. In town, but still in the "forest". The grounds here are exceptional. You feel like you are still experiencing the Yosemite vibe. Good size rooms. Restaurant on property. Good size room we had. We really enjoyed the balcony after a day out and about. Quiet, tranquil but not isolated.

Flawless Stay

I was extremely hesitant at staying at another HIX after the absolute worst nightmare in Atascadero, but this one in Oakhurst, CA is one of the best I have ever been to. This location is only 20-30 minutes from Yosemite. This is an extremely clean, NEW, and modern hotel. The rooms have 8 (yes Eight) USB outlets to charge your various devices. The free breakfast is above average. The staff is very friendly and accomadating. All in all, a very good stay.

The worst hotel experience I've had

Reviewed By AlwaysLovingIreland

My wife and I are currently at the Comfort Inn Yosemite and it's been a truly terrible experience with their staff. We are in town for a family wedding and due to logistics and usual chaos of wedding shuffling unexpectedly needed to find a hotel. I booked us here and showed up an hour later to check in. When we entered the room, it had a soured and rancid smell that caused an allergy attack for my wife. We called the front desk immediately and I asked them if I can cancel our reservation. They offer trying a different room, but I explain my wife is having an allergy attack and I would like to just try a different hotel. They say they "can't refund my stay." They'll charge me for 1 of my 2 nights if I cancel. I beg them to reconsider and just let me leave. "We can't do that, it's policy." I ask to talk to the manager. "She just left." I ask if they can call her to give permission for my refund. "We'll try." I've only been in the room for 5 minutes at this point. I wait another 5 and they don't call me back. I go to the reception and ask again if they can cancel my stay. "We can't it's policy." Did they reach the manager? They don't respond (I don't believe they called). She points to a young man at the front desk and tells me he is the manager's son. I explain our situation and ask if they can just give me a refund. He smugly tells me "Because you entered the room we have to charge you for the night" citing their cleaning policy. I told him we barely entered the room and touched nothing - he doesn't care. He tells me I can go try other rooms to see if they don't smell, and I tell him that doesn't make sense with the policy he stated and ask him if they'll have to charge me to go into those other rooms as well. He doesn't respond. So yes, because I don't have the money to double down on a new hotel, I'm forced to risk my wife in another of their rooms or face their cancelation fees, for a reservation made less than 1 hour ago and a room I spent 5 minutes in. My wife is, thankfully, doing OK in the new room, but how dare you make me risk her health and roll the dice on another allergy attack. You are an unethical team to force that upon us. To the manager, Belinda Pressiado, and her son, this is the worst hotel experience I have ever had, and it's clear the safety and health of your guests does not matter to you in the slightest. Also, I've fixed the Choice Hotel's motto for you: "Because at Choice Hotels, our business is (abusing) you." We're here to enjoy a wedding, and instead I'm incredibly distracted and unpeaceful from the ill treatment by your staff. Thanks for undermining a family wedding and tainting a weekend away with my wife.

Great location after a long day in the park

I stayed at this hotel for two nights on a trip to Yosemite. The hotel is clean, the staff pleasant with a standard Fairfield breakfast. The hotel has a small outdoor pool that looked well maintained. The parking was well lighted and the location is south of the park. It was a good stay. Thumbs up for me.

A place to sleep

Reviewed By luzma562003

Room was clean, neat, had a small fridge which was helpful, 4 of july weekend and hot weather. You can hear the other rooms. My friends had the room next to us, I could hear their snores very clearly in my room. We could hear their conversation. You would walk on the aisle and hear the people talking from inside their rooms. For check in I had an issue,I booked through booking and my credit card was charged, then on the check in I had to use my credit card again, but all was ok afterwards, was only charged once. The other situation is the lady at the check in was very rude. Not the right way to treat your customers. I had precisely questions because of the double charge, she didn't care and was rude talking to me and my friends. This place was selected as last resort, as it was 4th of July weekend and last minute plans, only recommending to use as last resort.

Nice room, terrible service

Reviewed By traveller7772015

Room was nice and comfortable. Convenient parking. There was false advertising: the reservation included breakfast but the hotel did not have breakfast available. This should have been stated under the reservation. The hotel staff was not friendly and it was like they were doing a favor to me. Room was not cleaned, no new towels or toiletries were provided in 3 nights stay. When there was a check out time, there was nobody in the office. I had to look and yell to get someone. When a person finally came, she had big rubber gloves on her and she just waved her hand at me. I had to specifically ask for a receipt. So to summarize: nice room, terrible service. I will not be booking this hotel again when I come to Oakhurst.
