Renovations and staff shortages

Reviewed By 702catherines

We were looking forward to our stay at what seemed like a great hotel in s perfect location. Well the location was spot on. On arrival we thought we were in a warehouse. There were stacks and stacks of crates and cardboard boxes and a distinct smell of cardboard. You could not see the foyer or corridor for these. Reception staff were friendly at all times. On arrival at our floor the trash can was overflowing and bags of trash piled up next to it. Having settled in, explored to find a concert happening Judy a short walk away at the riverside which the reception had no idea about.., we came back to enjoy the views from the sky lounge. Only to find it locked. Peering through the glass door we got a peek of the amazing views but utter disappointment that we could not access them. Following morning more trash along with flies and odour by the elevator. We told reception and she said she would get it attended to. (All trash and trash cans had been removed when we returned later). Asking about the sky lounge she said they had not got the staff to open it. Seems they don’t have the staff to press the bed linen either! Overall a disappointing stay.

SpringHill Suites by Marriott Mobile

One of the better SpringHills I've stayed in recently

Reviewed By bhawkins

I travel a ton for work, and this SpringHill was definitely way above average. My shower and bath fixtures were in great shape. The breakfast was solid -- the coffee was especially good. Not the usual watered down variety. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here in the future.

Could be great, but it’s not

Reviewed By miscellani

We unfortunately did not have a great experience at this hotel. The customer service lacked a level of discreetness and courtesy. As soon as I walked up to the desk and told the clerk I had checked in on the app, she launched into a loud and clearly stated rant about how my card was declined (which I expected because I realized the reservation was booked under the wrong card) and that THEREFORE I would need to physically insert my card. She must have had a long day because she then proceeded to try to explain to me how to close out and refresh my app (as if that is not common knowledge for most people under the age of 60). The room was clean and spacious, but the door to our room would not lock because the deadbolt was out of alignment. We decided to shove the luggage cart in front of the door so we’d hear an intruder instead of complaining and changing rooms, but really? In addition, the two beds are only double sized, so very small, and they are also not the usual Hilton comfort level. They were hard with very little give - no pillow top layer. Lastly, you do have to pay for parking and they oversold the lot. I managed to find a space in a far corner, but I’m curious to see how I will be able to maneuver leaving. For those reasons, we cancelled our return reservation and will be staying elsewhere. I think this spot could be great, but they definitely have some work to do to get it up to par.

Fort Conde Inn

The Fort Conde Inn, Alabama's only 4-star, AAA four diamond rated boutique hotel and bed and breakfast, is a luxurious facility exuding the style and feel of nineteenth century Mobile. Requiring two years of meticulous workmanship, the Inn has now been restored to its original Victorian splendor. Built in 1836, the Fort Conde Inn (Hall-Ford House) is Mobile’s second oldest house and its interior and exterior finishes reflect its architectural vintage from original heart pine flooring and custom-milled stairways, moldings, and window and door trim to marble fireplace mantles, plaster walls, 12 foot ceilings and crystal chandeliers. The Fort Conde Inn, located in Mobile's historic Fort Conde Village, has recently expanded to include four newly restored hisorically certified homes: The Antunez House, the Spear-Barter House, as well as the Blakely and Gonzalez cottages. Walking into the Inn today, is like taking a step back in time to when these homes were originally built. The Inn sits on a quiet street in Fort Conde Village surrounded by Victorian homes restored with integrity and respect for their architectural heritage. It is situated adjacent to Fort Conde, a pre-revolutionary war fort built by the French in 1720 and named after the Prince of Conde, a grandson of Luis XIV. Mobile was founded by the French and the fort protected Mobile from incursions by the British. In recognition of the French heritage of this land, the rooms at the Inn have been named in French after friends and family members of the owner.

First time staying at a Drury Inn, and it was very nice. Comfortable beds, nice sitting chair . Love the free popcorn in the afternoons, that's a nice welcome. The free breakfast in the morning was very good. The ladies do an excelent job setting it up, and keeping everything nice and clean. Could use a few more hand santitizers around the food area . The shower area in our room was very small, and needed updating. The vent in the shower does not come on, so the area gets all steamed up. They said that they turn on a ventilation system in all the rooms during the day at the same time. That did not make sense to me! Anyway, other than that, it was a nice stay.

DISGUSTING

Reviewed By 226janiellek

I honestly hate to write bad reviews but this hotel was so disgusting that I feel compelled to warn other guests. The room was so dirty that it appeared the floors haven't ever been cleaned (we were slipping and sliding all over the tile with our sandals as if there were grease all over the floor), there was a pubic hair on the side of the tub, there was a used snot rag inside the ice bucket AND a used tube of toothpaste in the ice bucket as well (yet they still put a new piece of plastic on the bucket -- did anyone even look!?!?). Truly so disgusted with the cleanliness of the room that both my sister and I did not even shower because we felt we were better off just waiting to shower at the next hotel. Not to mention the literal dirt and dust pile up that you see allllll over the room, it was so grimey that I wish I could post the pictures I took along with this review. I would NOT recommend you or anyone you care about staying at this hotel.

Deliberately Misleading Property

Reviewed By charlieo893

Paid for a room advertised with breakfast however after coming down the following morning we told they no longer serve breakfast “due to covid”. (This was odd seeing as it is June 2022, however I digress). My main issues are as follows: - No warning of breakfast situation given on check in. - No apology was made for inconvenience & refused to reimburse any of the price paid. - Having seen other reviews we are not the first this has happened to. Once would be a mistake. Repeatedly is either unforgivably lazy or deliberately misleading
