Isolated and quiet
Reviewed By steven sIsolated located about 30mins from Monreal Port. Friendly, helpful staff. My delux fan room facing the sea was large. I still had the option of having aircon but looking at the size of the unit I didn't think it was worth the extra cost. The room was never warm anyway so I was happy with the pedestal fan. The bed had clean linens. There was also a table and chair,kettle, shelf unit and a drying rack. Lighting was okay. Power point at the table for recharging. Large bathroom with good lighting. Separate recessed shower with hot water and good pressure. My porch had a bench chair and a hammock. Each bungalow has their own foot wash tap which is handy. Room cleaning upon request.Laundry service available. The restaurant has a decent menu. Meals for lunch and dinner have to be preordered 2-3hrs in advance. More expensive but understandable given the location. They have wifi at the restaurant only but it is very slow if you can get a connection. But they do tell you. Even my internet data did not connect. Most tourists come here for the diving. I came just to see the waterfall. Walking along the beach it is sad to see so much plastic trash. Overall, the accomodations, food and service is very good. Even if you just want to lie back and chill with peace and quiet this place is as good as any.

Our resort is approximately 80 km from the airport and 20 km from the ferry port of Cataingan. In addition to fresh local cuisine, we also offer various leisure activities such as pool billiards, darts, basketball and fishing. Our offer also includes various boat tours with local guides. Reviewed By tumer2015It is a place that not much provided to you but in return they expect you to be generous. You can not bring any food to resort. But in next door they let you BBQ your chicken or fish and they have excellent service. After all the lady who runs the place with her German husband is nice but very she expects earning money without service. There is no hot water in the room but A cup of hot water is 10P. So it is not hard to understand

Has potential but wouldn’t recommend
Reviewed By swadea2016Unfortunately this hotel fell short of our expectations. Although the welcoming was warm, from there the service was underwhelming. If you’re not in a big dive group be prepared to be forgotten about. We had to prompt staff for service and it was normal to wait over an hour for for food, once ordered. Credit must be given to the chef though as when food did arrive it was yummy, albeit the menu is built in servings for 2 which we were not told about in advance. There is one member of staff who takes the initiative - Robert. There is a clear need for a manager to take control and lead the Altamar team. Our room was based in the original Altamar house, which unfortunately is not setup very well to take guests - it really is like staying in the house of generation gone by. Lamps didn’t have lightbulbs, the A/C was incredibly noisy and we were not given the key to our room until the second day. Clearly there are attempts on site to improve the guest facilities with a new building, pool and rooms, however our advice would be to turn the house back for the owner only or significantly change the layout and decor for paying guests. The new building and pool is not mentioned on Agoda, so on arrival we were confused as too is the ‘resort’. We opted for an island hopping tour through the hotel, which was overpriced - and further confusion when we had at the last minute, again on prompting, pay extra for snorkel equipment from another business next door. The tour was private and 3 crew managed the boat with 1 (new) member of the hotel staff joined us as a ‘tour guide’ - which seemed excessive particularly as the guide could not answer our questions. We understand she was new but perhaps she could have been briefed better or done the tour once before taking guests out - it was her first time at some of the stops. Whilst on the tour our guide was also accosted by an official tour guide for not having the correct credentials. The 5 tour sites were themselves pleasant enough - and quiet with only 1 or 2 other boats arriving at. However, comparing the whole experience to El Nido or Busuagna, where the tour benefitted from being peaceful it lacked in wow factor - El Nido is better for snorkelling and beaches.

Reviewed By Joanie_IpiliPros: -Centrally located in the city center -Can easily get a tricycle -Near cathedral, museum and souvenir shop Cons: -Found a big cockroach in the bathroom (really not a good sign!) -Beds feel cheap, and room felt dirty -Concierge not helpful/knowledgeable on places to go to in Masbate -Intermittent wifi (no wifi at the lobby) -Cramp bathroom -TV not working, so cannot watch anything -No available outlet in the room (i.e. have to remove outlet dedicated for TV, so can use for charging electronic devices) -Told staff that would need a room that have separate beds, but in the end still gave a room with one bed -Shower is a joke -Key card not functioning the day after -No elevator

Reviewed By Giefe TThe room is convenient especially for family. The service were excellent. The location of the hotel is near to convenient stores and resorts. It has also restaurant that offers food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has also its gate for security and a parking lot if you wish to bring your car/motorcycle.

Reviewed By silverjohnson69The lodge is located in a village which is cut off unless you have a motorbike which arent available to hire so its taxi bikes everywhere or boat which is also expensive .The stairs to the air con rooms are very narrow and steep. The floor of the landing is giving way in places and lady points out where not to stand . There are no private bathrooms on site, no running water, bathroom has two water bins. There is a shower but not really able to use as its " not in a good state ", when we opened door to balcony there is half the floor missing leaving a very dangerous hole ,no real veiw as the building work obscures any . the building work going on wont be finished anytime soon according to them , sockets are hanging out of walls, food states p200 for dinner but charged between p660 and p750 for two very basic meals one of which is always vegatarian which was extortionate prices, we never paid so much for basic food in the 4 months we have been in the Philippines. The lady in charge overbooks her rooms and this causes problems, for 2 nights the restaurant was turned into places to sleep with mattress on the floor .Whole place sounds like a resort but is far from it . There is a garden to sit in . The bed was comfortable, the air con worked and room was good size .

Reviewed By barrc2112This hotel needs a serious remodel!! The painted baseboards in our room were no longer painted. You receive two bath towels and no hand towels or wash clothes. No bottle water in room or water glasses. If you want cheap this is the way to go. The power kept going out all night and a few time in the morning. And of course the elevator was not in service so from the fifth floor not a pleasant experience.
