Checked in March 7th 2020 and was pleased as soon as we opened the door. The apartment was for 4 adults and we had plenty of space and cupboards. The rooms were comfortable and clean and for a ski resort they were stocked well with cutlery, utensils and kitchen equipment. We stayed in for one evening and was abe to make a decent meal on the hob. We had fantastic views of the mountains and the ski slopes. In a good position for pubs, shops and restaurants. Check in was smooth and quick, no issues at all.

Great stay

Reviewed By andrew122022

We stayed for 5 nights half board. Location is great for skiing (ski-in ski-out) as the hotel is on the side of a slope near the bottom of the ski resort. Though the main highlight was the exceptional restaurant and bar staff managed by Julien. They were all extremely friendly and attentive. The half board is a must. It’s great value for money, the food is great, and there aren’t many restaurant choices around the area to access on foot. Will definitely consider staying here again in the future.

Lagrange Vacances Les Chalets Edelweiss

Amazing location with bonus of Ski in Ski out!

Reviewed By Shon_D84

A group of five of us stayed at Chalet Edelweiss this last week (wc 12th Jan) in the eight person apartment. As previous reviewers have said, booking an apartment with a bit of space (i.e. four people, book a six bed, five people eight bed etc) means you have a bit more comfort/space. You could fit eight people in there, but it'd be a squeeze with adults especially if there are no couples as it'd require sharing double beds! Our transfer arrived just after 12pm where reception had closed until 5pm...We were surprised the tour operator seemed surprised by this, but the staff said we were welcome to leave our luggage and make the most of the half day lift pass. We collected the passes from the v.convenient office opposite reception, and then our hire skis from the equally convenient Sport 2000 (via a beer at Bobsleigh Pub as the hire shop was closed until 1:30pm) and made our way down the slope 30m to the Melezes chairlift and onwards up Bergerie to the rest of the resort. The apartment was nicely finished, with a few bits of wear and tear noticed. Make sure to fill out the checklist of items and report any issues by Monday. We took bits and pieces with us to help with cooking on the hob, such as a grater, sharp knives, extra chopping board etc as well as some cleaning products (there's a dishwasher so remember tablets). When it came to cleaning up on the Friday before we left we went to Spar (about a 10 minute walk away) and got some extra cleaning products to do the floors and bathrooms etc. We loaded up on food at Spar in the village and cooked in two big batches which sorted us out for the whole week, with a couple of nights out at the very excellent Cantine restaurant and pizza at the Bobsleigh pub (which does takeaway too!). The Spar was about what you'd expect price wise, but c'est la vie! Bedrooms were comfy...we drew straws to decide who got the double (I lost) but the twin was absolutely ideal for two grown men and the bathroom was nicely done out - although the shower's sliding door was a little snug for a big bloke like me! The location is literally incredible...Sure it might not have the most restaurants/bars in the village, but it takes about 2 minutes walk to get to the lift pass collection point, the nearest hire shop, the nearest pub and the first lift of the day. La Plagne 1800 is small but perfectly formed in that respect. La Plagne Centre has more shops and bars/restaurants, but does require a ski back down the hill to the bottom of Melezes via either a simple enough Red or a windy (and a tad icy) blue that brings you out a little further away - so bear that in mind when making evening plans. Other bonuses of the location include the free resort shuttle bus which stops directly outside Chalet Edelweiss...Again, I can't fault the location at all! The staff in reception were helpful, informative and very polite. We ordered fresh bread and pastries every evening before 7pm for collection the next day at 8am and they were delicious and a godsend to five sleepy guys! It was a good mix of families and groups of friends, with no massive parties that I could hear (most of that was confined to the excellent La Mine pub just down the hill!) and there seemed to be plenty of bookings. If I came back to La Plagne I would definitely book at Edelweiis again. It was my first experience of self catered after four catered holidays and it worked perfectly well.

Great value & great staff!

We recently returned from a weeks skiing in La Plagne and we were pleasantly surprised by the facilities and especially the service received throughout our stay. Yes the room was on the small side but it was still comfortable and the staff were attentive and helpful. The ambience was relaxed and you never got a sense of putting anyone to any trouble. The food was tailoured for continental cuisine and of a high standard compared to many other buffets I have experienced although the younger British pallet may struggle! Would love to return next year and the skiing was really good too considering the Spring sun.

We can’t praise this hotel enough. It’s like we’re staying with our family. Regis, Corine and Joey are so lovely, nothing is too much trouble for them. We took a group of disabled sitskiers on this trip. Regis and Corine transported us to the slope where it was easier for us to ski with the group. Life would’ve been much harder for us without their help. And Fifi my adopted dog is a absolute angel. Can’t wait to visit them again in April. Biscuits are on order Fifi ??

Generally the hotel was good. The reception staff were amazing and could not be more helpful. The breakfast selection was very small considering how much you pay for the rooms. If you arrive late you will miss out as the items don't seem to get replaced. There was always mess everywhere it wasn't the tidiest of eating areas. One of the staff members was kind enough at breakfast but was always messy appearance and looked like he had just rolled out of bed. The other chap with longer hair was just plain rude, spoke to us like we were children coming off the street not guests of a very expensive hotel and spa! Deciding to argue with me about a sandwich one morning in reception. The spa staff member was also disgusting, his attitude was revolting, rolling his eyes and tutting at us. Watching us like school children to ensure we showered before entering the pool. We watched him do this with every guest not just us. The room we had was very nice though, although they did "make up" the room every day they didn't replace loo rolls so we ran out of this one morning. The food in the restaurant for dinner was sub standard too, risotto was not nice, it was chewy and undercooked. The steak I had was very fatty and half inedible. One general notice around every part of the SPA and Hotel was A4 bits of paper taped everywhere for lots and lots and lots of Signs telling you what you can do and can't do. Around the hot tub in the spa was around 10 posters of strict rules saying what you can and can't do. One morning the coffee machine had no milk so they just put paper on the buttons with highlighter. Just all looks really rubbish and un professional. We paid ALOT of money for bed and breakfast and expected alot more.

Disappointing

Reviewed By Debbiesdn

I have stayed here several times but the hotel has gone downhill. Poorly managed, cleaning virtually non existent, food hit and miss and often served cold. Great location, direct access to easy green run and heated lockers in boot room. Several items went missing from the boot room whilst we were there, so don't leave your ski gear lying around for too long. The hotel needs to be managed properly, far too many staff hanging around doing nothing, some of whom were quite rude. Top marks to the lovely Australian lady on reception, who went out of her way to help. Improvements need to be made to bring this hotel up to standard as it could be so much better. It’s dated and in need of refurbishment but this would not be such a big deal if the rest of the services were up to scratch. Reminded me of holidays in Butlins!
