Yellowstone Valley Lodge, Ascend Hotel Collection

We're a small, off-the-beaten-path collection of contemporary cabins and one exceptional five-star gourmet restaurant, tucked along the banks of the Yellowstone River on a ranch style property in the Paradise Valley of Montana. Our passions: Falling asleep to the sound of the river (we've also got a weak spot for high-count linens, fly-fishing, and microbrews—you'll see.), anything locally grown (if Chef Marcos prepares it, it's good) and showing off Yellowstone National Park (and the Valley's other endless outdoor opportunities). With our local knowledge, upscale amenities, and taste for both fine food and outdoor adventure, we're a natural base for your Yellowstone-area experience.

Exceeded expectations!

Our cabin was beautiful. Very well appointed, spacious and comfortable. The River view from our large deck was amazing. The complimentary breakfast was top notch and dinner at the Yellowstone Grill was outstanding. The service was exceptional and everyone went out of their at to be helpful.

Nice secure rooms close enough to Yellowstone

Nice recently renovated rooms. Aside from a miscommunication upon check-in, we enjoyed our brief stay. The management cares about the property. Rooms are comfortable and secure. Parking convenient. Several restaurants nearby. Grocery stores, too. Only about an hour or so from Yellowstone National Park

Carries a Marriott name but doesn't come with a Marriott service quality

Reviewed By Geminican

Positives: Cierra was responsive and helpful front desk staff, fast check in and practiced active listening. Excellent breakfast. Easy parking. Good lighting in the bathroom. Honor Marriott membership with a welcome gift. Modern and updated interior. Clean lobby and hallway. Negatives: • Cold/Warm shower water – not hot. • No body lotion in the room – Cierra said they ran out of the supply - this is standard, not having it is unacceptable, especially with a large hotel chain like Marriott. • Long light brown hair found on the bathroom countertop – gross • Bad attitude from the front desk staff (don’t know his name) – hung up the phone on me in the morning before checking out. Had to call Marriott's toll free to get help instead. The Marriott phone representative, Nancy, was helpful in bringing this issue to the hotel manager, Melina's attention. • Loud train (the entire town is next the train track) • Car alarm sounded at 5:50am in the hotel's parking lot • It’s also next to a major highway. This hotel may not provide a light sleeper good sleeping quality with its inability to keep things quiet during quiet hours, and also external factors that's out of their control. Bozeman or Gardiner, MT are next closest towns that also offer more lodging options than Livingston. I am hesitant to recommend this hotel for all reasons above.

Photos wildly inaccurate...

Oh boy. First of all, the way this place is presented online isn't remotely indicative of its current state. Not even close. Imagine it as if that version of it was abandoned for 20 years then hastily reopened. There was an overflowing trash can full of diapers and pizza boxes spilling into the entryway...lobby is in disarray with over turned broken furniture and dust covered holiday decorations in late May. Pool was very sketchy and clearly unserviced. "Hot buffet breakfast" was 2 loaves of bread, cereal and hard bagels. Tried to use the juice machine but it was aggressively leaking water everywhere and into puddles on the floor. I saw no employee after having to summon one via the cellphone number on the front desk (there was an unfriendly sign with a cellphone number anyplace where you would expect a human employee to be). I felt uncomfortable enough to put a chair against my room door as the place looked deserted and the lock was in its last legs. Random dude drinking beer and talking to himself alone at the end of the hallway didn't help. Just weird, off putting vibes all around. Room utterly filthy and circa the mid 80s in terms of decor and amenities. Window overlooked the used tire lot next door's trash and dumpsters.bathrrk. covered in hair, dirt and mold. Immediately no. Yikes.

Awful customer service

Reviewed By U7068HRjoyces

My husband and I stayed at this place because we got caught in an unrecorded snow storm that shut the interstate down. I booked a room with a queen bed. When we got there we were told that this booking shouldn't have happened because they are supposed to close the top for when it snows. When we got up to the room it was decent, but I quickly realized that the bed was not queen sized, it was a full size. My husband and I own a queen size bed. We know what a queen size is. When I went to talk to the lady at the front desk she insisted that the bed was a queen size. She didn't even care that I told her we hardly got any sleep because there was no room on that bed. I would caution any traveler to seriously consider skipping this place even if you have to pay more somewhere else!
