Excellent hotel, in a great and authentic place

Reviewed By jsk-oup

We stayed in this hotel during 3 nights in November with a group - the staff was wonderful, the food is of the highest level and the place is really authentic and makes you feel that you travel on time. Any request or question was answered with a lot of professionalism. I firmly recommend to come and stay here, at least to have an outstanding dinner or a fresh and "home made" breakfast!

I booked this as it was near to a relative we were visiting. We have stayed in Lectoure before, but before this hotel opened. I have to say, everything about the hotel was superb. We booked the privilege apartment as had two separate bedrooms, along with a sitting room with dining table and chairs, and an excellent mini kitchen. I was staying with my sister and our dad. We loved the apartment, we used all aspects of it. They provide l’occitaine toiletries, which we love, kettle and nespresso coffee machine in kitchen, super hairdryer, bath robes and flip flops (good to use for the termé baths over the road!). There is a free public car park opposite the hotel where we parked our car. We had breakfast every morning, think about 14€ per head. Lovely coffee, juices, eggs cooked to order, yogs, fruit, pastries, bread, butter and jams, cheeses, ham and salami. There are places to eat breakfast in the town, literally a 2 minute walk, but we were quite happy with the breakfast provided. The gardens and hotel all immaculate, house keeping very efficient. The ladies on reception all very pleasant and helpful, recommending us restaurants and places to visit, and booking tables for us. We ate at Racine and Cigale é Fourmi - both excellent. For lunch we bought bread from the bakery right at the top of the hill (I believe this is open all day) and cheese, tomatoes and grapes from the shop on the main high street. Note - most places are shut on a Monday, however, there was a local food and craft market by the corn hall late afternoon on the Monday, and the chef who used to own La Barbacane at the top of the hill, was cooking freshly prepared arancini balls and vanilla beignets! Delicious! We ate them on the terrace at the front of the hotel with a beer and a bottle of chilled rosé. A very relaxed evening. We used the termé (free admission for hotel guests - there is no other pool at the hotel). It’s open 14.00-19.00. Remember to take your swim suit. We took swimming hats but were told we didn’t need them. We had a couple of lovely, relaxing afternoons using the pool and very powerful water jets, steam room and jacuzzi. All in all we really enjoyed the hotel, would highly recommend. Special mention to Stephanie, Charlotte and Demelsa, however, all members of staff very pleasant, helpful and knowledgable. Thankyou. We will definitely be back ?

Let's not tell TOO many people about this gem, OK?

I've been twice to Hotel Guilhon—in six months. That's how great this place is. It's a supremely comfortable, luxurious place to stay and the perfect base for exploring the charming countryside of the Gers. The bedrooms are huge and are all recently redone, including the bathrooms. I visited during the off-season, when there were few other guests, so the owner let me see them all. My favorite, the one we always stay in, is the Francis Poulenc suite. It has an enormous bathroom and a view over the lovely pool. I also like that it's one of the bedrooms that does not face the school across the road, which briefly gets noisy when the kids arrive for school. The whole mansion is spotlessly clean and even smells divine. The common rooms, where you can relax with a drink and a book, are tastefully decorated with interesting art and comfortable furniture; the rooms downstairs are nicer than my own home. The pool area in the courtyard is heated through October and is a wonderful place to sit and read or enjoy a glass of wine. But the best thing about this hotel is its friendly, cool owners Thierry and Marc. They speak English perfectly and will help you with dinner reservations or make suggestions for things to do in the area. They always seem to be there when you need them, but also give you lots of space. They're very skilled that way. L'Hotel Particulier Guilhoun is my favorite place to stay in France, and I can't wait to come back with friends. Pro tips: Consider planning your trip between late April and early October. I've visited before Easter and in late October and noticed that some of the restaurants and other businesses in Lectoure were closed in the off-season. Of course, that did make it less touristy and less crowded, which was nice. You absolutely need a car here. I saw no evidence of buses or trains at all in this area.

Wonderful place to stay

I stayed here for three nights in October 2017, Beatrice and her husband were so welcoming and kind, nothing was too much trouble for them. They are rightly very proud of what they do.The room was large and filled with lovely antiques and paintings, with a very comfortable bed and good shower. Breakfast was in their own kitchen up a lovely wooden open stairway, and was more than enough for me. Highly recommended as a place to stay in this wonderful town.

Little gem in the heart of Lectoure

Reviewed By 4DeltaMike

Our flight to Bordeaux was 2hrs late and, coupled with heavy rain meant we wouldn’t be at A2 Pas before 10pm. We called the hotel and the proprietor (Anne Sophie?) gave us details of how to gain access and how to find our room (as she’s not on site). We found parking on the street (it was a Friday night), easily found the way to our room and by 10.10pm was enjoying a refreshing beer in a local bar. It’s a cosy and welcoming place. Breakfast was a nice mix of local melon, yoghurt & bread, served at a communal table. Great value for money, great location, lovely proprietor and a nice room.
