A great stopover from Calais
Reviewed By aro-ratStayed overnight travelling from Calais onto Bordeaux. Check in was smooth in English, Lisa at reception was very helpful. Hubert was extremely helpful and apologetic as the restaurant was closest due to Sunday. The hotel is exceptionally clean, rooms have a kettle, unlike the ones which follow from this review. The room is big enough for 2 and all the luggage. 10/10 for an exceptional place and a stopover. Burger King around the corner, you will need your NHS QR code before entry. We went to BK as we had a beer at the hotel and didn't want to risk driving.

Good choice for hotel with parking near the centre
Reviewed By src1948Lovely old insurance building with impressive stained glass in the grand staircase windows. Excellent open private parking, shared with Ibis. Use intercom at gate at 22 Rue Erpell behind hotel and they will open it. Initial corner Privilege room 315 was 28C in May heatwave and aircon had no effect despite technician’s efforts. However the lovely staff found another much cooler Privilege room 323, which was fine, if a bit dark. Room decoration drab, with no pictures on the walls, but good bed, plenty of storage and nice bathroom with bath/shower. Big TV, but no channels in English. Good WiFi. Good breakfast selection , but limited dinner menu and wine list in soulless restaurant with average food and sketchy service. Staff generally delightful, particularly at Reception. A fairly easy walk to the main square and the lovely old town and cathedral.

Shame about the restaurant offer
Reviewed By Paul AThe 'new format' is a great improvement on the older shabby motels. The room was spacious with a great comfortable bed. The shower was huge and brilliant. We normally use Campanile's because the restaurant buffet for dinner is very good. Unfortunately, the only food on offer here was a choice of 2 starters, two mains and 2 puds. The food was OK but a bit boring and it was obvious the food was zapped in a combi oven - lots of pinging! There are only 12 parking spaces, so you have to be lucky to get one.

Reviewed By ali3240This is an ideal hotel for a stopover on the way to the South of France - its very easy to access as you don't need to drive through the city centre to get there. There is plenty of free parking in the streets nearby and they also have a secure, underground car park. All the staff on reception and in the bar /restaurant could not have been more helpful and the on site restaurant is a relaxing place for a decent meal if you arrive late and don't want to walk into town. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable enough.

A hidden gem
Reviewed By Peter_Dawn01Our second stay here and we weren’t disappointed. The exterior has been renovated with a new drive. The whole place looks clean and covid safe. The staff were very friendly and even telephoned a local pizza delivery for us. Very comfortable family room, comfortable beds. We had a really nice breakfast in the room. This made us feel safe from covid and was very handy when rushing to get to the eurotunnel. It was also a very generous breakfast too with lots of wonderful items. Very well placed, a very nice small hotel

Very small rooms
Reviewed By GazteorioWe chose this hotel as a stopover on our way to Spain. It's located just off the motorway which was ideal for us. The rooms are very basic but clean and tidy. Also offers secure parking. A massive benefit for us was that it's dog friendly. Good value for what we paid. The only downside is that the rooms are quite small and compact, probably not ideal if you have a large dog like ours.

Reviewed By lkalip814308The room was super nice and spacious with everything you might need (even a dishwasher!). The location was good, very close to the center but on a quiet street. We found the breakfast to be expensive (12.5 euros) so we did not have it, as you can find better options around town for that amount.

Reviewed By BartT257Staff is very friendly. The rooms are big (bed was huge) and very clean. Breakfast buffet was very good aswell. The hotel is near the very beautifull old town of Le Mans. Only negative point for me during my stay, was the WiFi in the room. It was impossible to connect 2 devices at the same time and I was disconnected a lot.

Reviewed By Ingrid GGreat value for money hotel with hands on and very friendly staff. 3 star hotel but worth 4 stars. Room was perfect, bathroom with rain shower comfortable and all very clean. Just 15 min. walk away from the historical city centre. The hotel has a special deal with the nearby EFFIE car park, just €8 for 24h.
