The 10 best hotels in Lafayette, United States

July 7, 2022 Elouise Mccaul

Founded by the Acadians in the 19th century, the legacy of Louisiana's French, Spanish and Caribbean ancestors comes together in Lafayette, creating a city with, amongst other things, a vast selection of restaurants serving everything from spicy po'boys to crawfish etouffee. With its lively street festivals, impromptu Zydeco concerts, historic plantations and food markets where locals still order their plate lunches in Louisiana French, Lafayette is the heart of Cajun country.

Worst hotel ever!!

First the room was filthy. Mold in the bathtub, cigarette burn holes in the comforter, mold in in the toilet. Don't expect them to clean room at all!! All I ever got was towels. They entered my room when I had the do not disturb sign on the door then when I requested a room clean they only took one garbage can out and gave me towels. A weird noise in the cabinets that don't open. No storage for your clothes. Stay away save your money!!

Nice clean comfortable hotel. Staff amazing. Easy on off freeway. Very good breakfast buffet in the morning, with many food choices and plenty of seating. Evening light Kick-Back dinner was excellent from 5:30-7 and was appreciated. The dinner meal is simple, but just enough where you don’t have venture out. Highly recommend.

Our group brought some grills and cooked fajita meat n the back parking area near the grass and tree. I hope the receptionist liked it ;). A huge thank you to Tyrone for being super accommodating with our crazy schedule. Thank you again!

Very competent, friendly staff

Reviewed By MargaretM192

We chose to stay in Lafayette to break our long drive from New Orleans to Galveston and chose this hotel as it seemed to be the best on offer. When we arrived during lunchtime, we were told our room wasn’t ready, but they told us their shuttle would drop us at a nearby restaurant and collect us when we had finished lunch. On our return around 3pm, the reception staff had changed shifts and when we tried to check in, we were told that the type of room we had booked was unavailable (we booked last November), but we could have another smaller room….totally unsuitable as we are on a four week long driving tour and have lots of luggage. Immediately, the Night Manager, Bill, said that he would sort something for us. Imagine our delight when he took us up to one of the suites….it was enormous! Although the hotel doesn’t have a large dining room (food is served at the bar), the two girls who served us on separate nights were so friendly and efficient, as was Tara who was on duty at breakfast time. There is nothing fancy about this hotel, but the staff are among the nicest we have met on this trip.

My stay was substandard.

Reviewed By BlaneD5

There was mold specks in the shower ceiling and all over the plastic shower head. And the bed was terribly lumpy, like hills and valleys. I requested a different room but there were none available as they were fully booked. I booked two nights so I requested that my second night I be moved to another room. They did and that room was satisfactory. When I spoke to the property manager, she informed me that because I used a third party site to book she could do NOTHING to satisfy my request for a comp. She could only give me a 20 dollar discount. While on the subject of the property management let it be known that the Lady who asserts herself as the GM is in my opinion very unprofessional. She came out several times before I knew her to be the GM hair a mess, clothes disheveled and donning a mug of coffee. As one would as a guest or in one's own home. I didn't see her once as a professional in uniform displaying the name and colors of a Wyndham property management member. As for the rest of the staff however, everyone was very helpful and courteous... and in a tidy uniform displaying professionalism as one would expect. Let if also be known that, myself being a very friendly and approachable person, some to several employees and not one had a good thing to say about your GM.

Excellent minus

Reviewed By HappyInHagerstown

This outstanding plus has lots of upside and just two warts that we found — the Internet was crappy (couldn't get on Chrome), and sometimes the Internet didn't work for hours. The other is that for a couple of straight nights, a closed meeting room boomed with so-called music and bass that shook the walls in our corridor. Sounded live (and awful). The upsides — amazing, bountiful breakfast, including fresh oranges and strawberries, good eggs, terrific coffee (get the dark roast), muffins galore, and more. Fantastic staff. Spotless hallways, rugs, bathrooms — everything. Tons of parking, including disabled at the front and side entrances. Big fridge and dishwasher that WORK. Plenty of REAL silverware, plates, cups, etc. The place is kind of midway from anything, but worth a couple extra minutes to get to. I've forgotten more — all of it good. Dinner tip if you love shrimp and grits: Zea's. Two ample sides with the meal. Scrumptious!

Let me start off by saying I am a loyal HHonors Diamond lifetime member and have stayed at this property several times before and loved it, thus the reason we booked here again. We arrived here with friends and had booked several rooms for a local event we were attending. Upon our arrival I noticed that they had availability in an upgraded room that would give our group a place to visit, upon asking for a Diamond upgrade I was advised by the front desk clerk that there was a better room available, although he would have to check with his manager first. He disappeared for a minute and then returned and stated that this property does not honor any complimentary upgrades…. As I am shocked at this point because I have never been told this (it even states it on the HHonors diamond website), but I advised him that was unfortunate. I was then told that the pool was “permanently closed”, amazed at this also, I was now dumbfounded, realizing that it is not this young man’s fault went on with check in. Once checked in we proceeded to our room, only to find that the hotel only has one working elevator, it took a while to get to our floor. I did see a post in January where the elevator was out and they only had one working elevator, but I “assumed” that the elevator had been fixed by then…. Evidently not. We were also there with several teams of football and weight lifters and their families, so the one working elevator was definitely not enough. We proceeded to our room which was clean. That night the water was lukewarm for showering, so I again went by the front desk in the morning to be told you have to let the water run for at least 10 minutes to get hot. That evening we did just that … actually 20 minutes.. still lukewarm…. Unsupervised children were running wild in the lobby area, jumping off of couches and such, only to be watched by the front desk staff, luckily no one was hurt (while we were down there). Hotel was not responsive to our issues, now I know why the LaQuinta and Microtel is rated higher than the HGI in Lafayette, we will not be staying here for future trips to Lafayette.
