It’s my first time having a five day trip in this cute and lovely Kimmen. BeiShan hostel provide a warm and clean accommodation. The hostel is a renoviert ancient building with modern interior. Locaded near several attractions like Guningtou Battle Museum and Beishan Broadcasting Wall, this place owns a quiet and good location. The helper of the hostel are hospitable and helpful, which offer good service. Bath room and toilet are well cleaned. Highly recommend this place to tourists who want to enjoy a nice sleep in a historical building.

Kinmen The Old House Quemoy B&B

A truly atmospheric restored historic mansion, with the most enthusiastic hosts

Reviewed By Terry K

We stayed at the this property between 19 - 22 May 2018. The building is a historic mansion of the type called a 'yang lou' (洋樓), built probably around the early 1920s. These were mansions and villas built by Kinmen natives who had migrated to Southeast Asia (principally, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines) to seek their fortunes. The successful ones remitted money home to erect mansions and villas like these between the 1910s and the 1930s: many examples of this kind of buildings still dot Kinmen. This particular example has been lovingly and sensitively restored - it is a delight to explore, and if history is your kind of thing, you will absolutely love this. History aside, it has all the necessary mod-cons: free fast wifi, ample hot water showers, and air-conditioning (or you could just opt for fresh air by throwing open the windows). The hosts Amber and Jack have filled the rooms and the shared communal areas with all sorts of delightful and quirky objects. Jack is a good cook: we looked forward every morning to the breakfast of native Kinmenese cuisine. We spent two full days exploring the major sights of Kinmen, and our main regret that we didn't have time for some of the places that we would have also wanted to visit (for example, Little Kinmen Island). A stay of perhaps 3 to 5 full days would probably have been ideal - there are certainly enough sights to fill a full five days. Amber arranged the transport for us - there is also the option of going around on bicycle, or simply taking walks around the neighbourhood. Taxi rides into one of the towns are easily arranged, and it a simple matter to catch one of the many taxis cruising around in the towns to get back to the B&B. Thanks to Amber and Jack, we had a wonderful holiday. This is definitely one of those places that we will want to go back to when we need a break!

We only stayed 1 night but it was lovely! The reception guys are super lovely and we had an issue of popping a tyre on our moped so the reception guys called the company and had it sorted for us that the next morning a new bike arrived! They helped to show us where to go into town and are very knowledgeable about the good spots!

Beean B&B

Peaceful w/ Friendly Owner

Reviewed By Luke L

Beean is located in a village just north of Jincheng, the main town on the island. While there are much more picturesque villages to stay in, this village still had a few traditional homes, a couple small temples, a big banyan tree, and an old military bunker. Although not far from the main road, it was quite peaceful in the guesthouse and most of the time we just heard the wind and birds chirping. The home is traditional, Fujian style with a courtyard in the middle, with four bedrooms, a public bathroom, and a reception area that was also a living room. The courtyard and reception were both decorated tastefully and added to the peaceful atmosphere. The owner sent me a text message on the day of arrival. Although his English is extremely limited, he's very friendly. He picked us up from the Shuitou ferry terminal and drove us to the guesthouse at no extra charge. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, so he allowed us to drop off our bags and drove us to Jincheng. That night, we hung out with him and a couple of his friends in the reception/living room, drinking great Taiwanese tea and having snacks. One thing that was rather misleading is that there's no breakfast served here, so calling it a "B&B" wouldn't be accurate. We stayed in the family room which was a loft with a soft queen sized bed on the first floor, and a double bed on the second, which was laid on the floor like a futon. A ladder connected both floors. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no heating in the room, so at night we had to ask for extra blankets and my parents still felt a bit cold. The shower has excellent pressure and there's a lot of hot water. Bathroom and bedrooms were all quite clean.
