Lovely stay!

Reviewed By Z5584NAlisap

We loved: Rick Steins dinner - very good!! Staff very friendly and helpful - appreciated the warm and friendly greeting on arrival and help with bags and complimentary bubbles Breakfast - very good (a la Carte) with great coffee. Area - beautiful beaches and sunset beach great for sundown picnics. Comfortable room (ocean view Lower deck 207). Cheeky Dog pub was way better than we expected - great food and drinks (and pet friendly). Big pub but very well done. We didn’t enjoy the Mexican - too greasy for us but friendly staff and great seating. Areas they could improve: We were really disappointed to hear our neighbours TV either side at night - not relaxing for us. I guess this is an old hotel that has perhaps been renovated. We use our breaks to sleep and rest so it’s a shame TVs are heard through the walls. Could replace the single use plastic bottles every day and single use soaps. Would be good to have a recycling bin. Shame we missed the cooking event - we’d have gone to this beforehand if we had known. Not much info on the room - not a biggie but would be good to have more info about what’s on etc. We missed the pool as it was being fixed but appreciated our upgrades. All in all a wonderful stay - thank you!

Great value resort in the country

Reviewed By Francisca H

We stayed here for two nights. Our room overlooked grassland with horses. Very peaceful and beautiful scenery amongst the vineyards. The room was very spacious with a comfortable bed and everything you would need. The restaurant on site did breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great service and delicious meals. The resort was close to most of the wineries and there was also a walking track, swimming pool and tennis court. They also had wine tasting at this resort. Their is a laundry on site as well as a library.

Disappointing

Reviewed By susielou197

We were excited to be staying in Newcastle in a 2 Bedroom 2 Bathroom apartment for a weekend away in the big smoke. Unfortunately we were placed in an apartment where outside every window was drainage dug up, piled up soil and cyclone fencing. Terrible - smell, dark, dank.

Excellent Hunter Valley Stay

Wonderful staff made our stay great though it was cut short by the NSW metro snap lockdown. Despite having to sudden be confined to our hotel room the night and check out the next morning the manager organized a lovely arrangement of Pastry, hot breakfast and hot coffee was dropped in takeaway bag at our door instead of the buffet breakfast. Can't thank the staff enough for how they dealt with the lockdown.

Another great stay at Spicers!

We had a group booking and everyone very much enjoyed their stay! Special mention to Phil, Tom, Emma, Brandon, Ruth - many who are familiar faces from May last year. The personable and friendly staff always add to the experience. Bar menu was great for a light meal and our dinner at eRemo was fantastic. Sitting by the fires are a great way to spend the evening. Breakfast options were excellent. Room was great and very comfortable - exactly what we needed for the time we were there. Bathrooms are on the smaller sides, but are beautifully designed and its not like you spend much time in there anyway! It has all the amenities you need when you are around the grounds, especially the insect repellent! Some additional lighting during the night might be a good addition, especially after it rains. It is also great that there are ground level rooms available at request for those who may not do well with steps as there are no lifts available. We are very much looking forward to another stay!

Great location and quite good rooms

Reviewed By ClaudiusSg

The location is near the corner of McDonalds Rd on Broke road, being very central to wineries and a few shops. It took some time to heck in as there was nobody at reception and we had to wait for kitchen staff to do it. The rooms are quite large, fairly well appointed and the bathroom is also quite big. The shower works fine but wasn't particularly clean - the hotel staff said they'd had trouble getting reliable cleaners. Would stay again (assuming fair price).

A Pleasant Green Stay

Reviewed By SydneyAsiaTraveller

I had no idea that this hotel was as green by surroundings and as green by practice as it was. Surrounded by green bush and grasslands, you wake up seeing Kangaroos hopping past your front door and past your car as if they were your neighbors. We saw rabbits and many wildlife outside our room. It was a green and off grid hotel by practice as they farmed their water by rain water and solar electricity. I was pleasantly surprised by all this setup and very impressed. The hotel room was modern and generally clean. Their manager Matt was awesome to deal with and always helpful. We felt very much at home staying at this hotel. The only down side on this trip was a slight flood in our bath tub. But overall the stay was great and my whole family really enjoyed it. We will definitely be back!

Excellent resort

Reviewed By elleemmed

Could not fault this resort. Not just a room we stayed in a full 3 bedroom townhouse. Our Villa was one of the furthest from the main building which made it nice and quiet and an easy walk up to use the facilities of the restaurants, bars, spa etc. Villa is huge, every bedroom has a big screen TV. There is a full bath in the main bathroom. Our view is of a cute lake with water fountain and assorted ducks. We are on a girls holiday but the facilities for kids looks amazing. On nights when we didn’t want to walk back the concierge drive us home in a buggy. We dined at Red Salt on our first night. Excellent food and service. The buffet brunch was amazing. The pub grill was lively with a deck overlooking the golf course and the kids entertainment area. Concierge helped us to get the wifi going and TV’s tuned on our first day. The Villa kitchen is well stocked with utensils, glasses and crockery. The main building has a nice gift shop and art gallery.
