Sexy and Eclectic in a GREAT Location

Reviewed By Mel M

The attention to detail in the decor is impressive. The Siren Hotel offers a shabby chic, art-deco, vintage feel. This carries through from the lobby, to the rooms, restaurant all the way to the Candy Bar lounge. It’s location can’t be beat. Wether you are attending a sporting event, concert or the shopping district, you are a pleasant walk away. There is also a people mover station nearby if you want to explore more of the city (at the time of this review, the people mover was not yet running due to COVID, but is scheduled to begin service soon). Rooms are clean and comfortable but small, and furnished minimally, yet thoughtfully. The Desk staff was friendly and accommodating … we arrived early to attend a game and they stored our luggage and allowed us to valet our car. Karl’s, the restaurant, makes you feel like you stepped back in time to a mid century diner. We enjoyed brunch there … food was creative and delicious , but a bit pricy. One disappointed was that we were unable to enjoy a drink at the Candy Bar … reservations are necessary. I feel like the hotel guests should be able to easily access the lounge. Karl’s does have a bar, but it would have been nice to have a drink in the Candy Bar. That being said, we would most definitely go back to The Siren Hotel. The location and lobby make it stand out!

I was in town for business and stayed at the hotel. My biggest takeaways were how friendly the staff was and how attentive they were to helping me in any way needed. Secondly, and just as important to me was how clean and welcoming the rooms were-they were A+ all of the way! I wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

Parking NIGHTMARE; Rude Unhelpful staff

Reviewed By F3315PBanon

I had a miserable time trying to park this weekend Saturday night as a would-be gambling patron at the casino. They closed the free casino parking garage, with the most vague description on the website to park at "508 Macomb." No instructions whether to valet, or for what MyChoice card tier is eligible. On the phone, the hotel front desk lady told me they are valeting everyone at the hotel front entrance, which was a lie. The lady guarding the 508 Macomb garage told me it was for VIP cards only, giving me no alternatives as to where I can park for free to get into the casino. I've gotten better customer service at the DMV. The valet guy with the big mustache was unacceptably rude. I told him the lady at the front garage won't let me in because I'm not a VIP and then I asked where am I supposed to park? He literally said "Well, it looks like you have nowhere to park." I'm not going to be $20 in the hole parking in a private lot before I even walk in to gamble, sorry! Not worth it. As I was driving away to another casino, the whole Greektown bar/restaurant area was littered with sketchy people smoking weed and blocking your car. The message to me from this experience was that the riff-raff whom you might catch a stray bullet from are welcome, and gambling paying customers are not. Not only this, but when they changed over the free parking garage a few weeks ago to be guarded, the mailer they sent out didn't explain clearly how it works, it was so worded vaguely it made it seem like you had to pay to get out. The website URL for "more information" was broken and didn't exist. If Penn National wonders why their casino lags as the least profitable casino in the area, things like this are why. I'm in my 30s, if this was a pain for me, you can probably imagine how all the older people who dump their social security checks into the machines would feel about it. I usually visit 2 casinos when I come down to the area, MGM and GT were my two stops. I usually skip MotorCity because it was dumpy in the past. I gave MC another chance and I was pleased with how they cleaned it up. They will be my #2 from now on and I will skip Greektown.

The hotel was nice enough. The finishes and amenities were good, but the restaurant was understaffed. This led to taking over an hour to get our food. That left a bad taste in our mouth. The public spaces on the hotel were slightly dated and needed some paint or refinish. The staff was very helpful.

Not worth the trip

Booked the room to be in town for a convention, this was one of the hotels on the list with transportation to and from. When booking the roof I selected a couples package that included a spa credit. After booking I contacted the hotel to confirm and find out how to use the credit, I was told all I had to do was set up the service with the spa. Day of arrival I contacted the hotel to ask for a change to a King room, I was informed to ask at check in. I did and was given the King room. Entering my room I found it was a double, back down stairs, talked to the front desk. Went to my second room it was a king. Dropped my bags and headed down to get some food. Went to their buffet, I selected a salad to start. After a couple bites of salad a bug crawled out from my lettuce. I mashed it called someone over and told them. They took my plate and fork and left. Never to be seen again. I am on semi vacation so I just leave because I am tired and do not want to argue. Going up to my room I go to turn the bed down and it looks like a mouse has been chewing on the bed linens, there what look like mold stains, wine stains and more. I go to the bathroom and find that some of my towels are torn up as well. I call the front desk and they send someone to take care of. Transport to the show: At check in no one knew the schedule or where the pick up was at. I was told to ask in the morning. That morning I asked and was directed downstairs and to go out some doors. This I di and found I was locked out of the hotel at this point. Several other guests had this happen as well. We called the hotel to check on the shuttle and point out the doors locked us out. After a while a employee, manager looking poked his head out. I pointed out that some clear signage would be nice to have. He rudely stated that next time we should not go out the door and left. The Spa: Showed up for our spa session. Again I asked about our spa credit and was lead to believe all was well. Spa service was ok, it was not what was advertised but since we had the spa credit I was not going to say much, I pointed out the hydrotherapy spa, which accounted for a vast portion of the treatment was broken and the only comment was I will have to look at that. Check Out: At check out we I found we were charged the full amount for our spa treatment. I pointed this out and was told I did not have one nor did I book the proper booking to get one. I was offered a $200 credit for my troubles. This place may have been a 4 star at some point but is not worth the stay, most of the staff was friendly enough but the place just was not worth the stay.

I booked a room here for 4 adults , confirmation received showing full booking and continental breakfast included. On arrival at hotel was advised no breakfast included. I complained and receptionist agreed to contact manager however then said , 'we don't do continental breakfast anymore' so you won't get one. I still voiced my complaint so she agreed to take up with her manager . Later I was told , we don't do breakfast just room service and you can have a credit for 15 dollars. How can anyone get breakfast for 4 for 15dollars !!! The items on room service would mean approx 25dollar each cost I believe more should have been offered as way of an apology but it was an attitude of tough , get on with it . I have sent complaint to hotel so will see if any response Room was okay just a little tired looking

I frequently stay at Marriott's all across the US for buiness. So i tend to accummulate a good amount of points, and titanium elite status. First weekend in June, I had decided to take a personal trip and spend the night with my S.O for her birthday at this Marriott. This was not a good experience. The hotel is a little confusing, but the staff appeared to be helpful. After arriving to our room, we went out to check out some sites around before dinner reservations. We returned to get ready for dinner, only to find there was no hot water. Not the shower or tap.
