Perfect retreat to the woods outside of Madrid
Reviewed By kangel6I had business in Madrid and decided to fly in early for a long weekend of hiking. Las Rozuelas could not have been a better retreat from the world. José Luis made me feel right at home (and was patient with my Spanish, though he also speaks English), and on the first day he mapped out all of the good hiking paths and restaurants — I took as many of his recommendations as I had time for! The hotel itself is close to the trails and to town, but sitting on the private porch and staring at the trees, it felt like being in another peaceful world. The breakfast is wonderful, the rooms are clean, spacious and tranquil (with a very comfy bed), and they even gave me a lift to the station after I checked out so I didn’t have to walk in the rain. Stay here if you have the chance! I can’t wait to go back.

Very cosy hotel with amazing view and friendly hosts
Reviewed By Lennert VWe absolutely disagree with all bad reviews! We arrived in the late afternoon and were welcomed very friendly. We got to choose our room out of two very spacious rooms. They both were very clean and featured a bathroom with bath and shower and a walk-in-closet. At night it was peacefully silent. Afterwards we visited the pool, which was very clean, as were the surrounding chairs/sofas. We shortly jumped in but it was too chill to stay in too long (mid May). We ate dinner here three times, all of which were tasteful with different types of meat, a side dish of vegetables for two was only €3 extra and made the whole meal just great. As a working point towards the hosts we would recommend to upgrade the WiFi to a faster and more reachable system. Lastly we would suggest adding a yoghurt or some fruits to the breakfast, which consisted of two toasts and a croissant with assorted jams per person. Overall it was a great stay and we would recommend it to everybody who wants to visit the area!

Beautiful peaceful boutique hotel
Reviewed By mevesysufresMy partner and I stayed here for a weekend away to escape the heat of Madrid. It was chosen as it wasn’t too far to drive in one day from the city and close to the sierra, so hoping for cooler temperatures. The hotel is delightful, I think by luck we had one of the best rooms, it was an end balcony room with stunning views to the mountains and seven peaks. The room was amply spacious and comfortable, the en suite was an excellent size with both bath and shower. All very clean and well presented. We had thought to eat out whilst here, as I love trying different restaurants, but partner wanted to try in house restaurant, as we would of needed to drive to other options and we wanted to relax and have some wine. The menu is small but excellent, just as it should be. I had the pulpo and it was great. The food was so good and the terrace seating so lovely we ate there again our second night and I had the pulpo again! Wine lovely, service faultless. Romantic evening setting on the terrace. Breakfast, which was included, was amazing. Fresh bread, eggs, meats, cereals and fruit, great coffee and fresh squeezed juice. One of the best buffet breakfasts I’ve had. The tortilla was amazing, we both loved it and looked forward to it the next morning... This hotel is a hidden gem and I strongly suggest you try it. Pleasant garden area to relax in and take a drink, covered outdoor pool also, which was too cold for me, but perfect for those living through the heat of the summer. Great spot for day hikes, horse riding (although choose wisely, the stable we went to was dreadful, horses depressed and old) I would definitely stay here again. Thank you to the staff for your attention and lovely service. Price very reasonable for the all round excellent levels of quality.

Beautiful guest house situated in Cercedilla, a mountain village located in the Guadarrama National Park. A privileged environment that offers endless possibilities, as walking for "La Calzada Romana", hiking trails, bike or horseback routes. Also the natural pools of Berceas during the summer or the ski slopes of "El Puerto de Navacerrada" in winter. This guest house is located in a strategic position, opposite the railway station, place of departure and arrival of trains that connect with Madrid and Segovia, as well as the little train that climbs to Cotos and El Puerto de Navacerrada. It is also next to the bus stop, both intercity and urban. The Aribel has both rooms with private bathrooms and rooms with shared bathrooms they are all exterior and equipped with TV, heating and free WiFi.
Mal trato. Arrogant hostile cafe service
Reviewed By YohnotanThe cafe staff here have a serious attitude problem and tunnel vision. It's impossible to catch their attention. They pretend not to notice you. The unsmiling waitress brought our friend's drink then ran off as soon as she could just as we arrived. She didn't bother to ask us what we might want to drink and ignored our plaintive efforts to attract her attention as she excocetted for the door. On another occasion my wife asked the guy who looked like the cafe manager for help with directions to the visitor centre out of town. He started his vague dismissive reply with "You've been here 3 days and you don't know where it is? The last time we had a drink at the place there was a mix up with the order, the waiter brought only two of the drinks and one of those was wrong. I tried to attract the guy's attention but as usual it was impossible. I ended up leaving the table to go and speak to him. Calmly and in a neutral way I hasten to add. He just stood there looking down his nose contemptuously and saying "I don't understand you". I don't think my Spanish is that bad, having lived here a few years. I couldn't help thinking he was pretending that he couldn't understand me just for some strange power trip thing. Even if my Spanish was unintelligible he could have been more amenable and helpful but maybe that's an alien concept in the Horibel Café. Our experience with the Hostal was mixed. Our room smelt of pond water and the towels were a bit grubby. We mentioned this and the two ladies on reception, who were pleasant and helpful, gave us a nice room on the top floor (with clean towels).

Great Clean Comfortable Room
Reviewed By TalewindWe got a double bed room on the top floor. The room was spotless and attractive. It had a nice balcony. There is a patio restaurant dowstairs. I liked the wooden beams in the ceiling. The staff was helpful. No breakfast. Early n the morning there was no one around when we left. The price was reasonable and we got a small pilgrim discount.

Reviewed By palomafizzyEl alojamiento es perfecto para senderistas, amplio, cómodo, tranquilo y en un enclave precioso. La dueña es súper amable y el desayuno, delicioso (sobre todo el bizcocho). Nos ayudó con las rutas de senderismo y nos aconsejó sobre el transporte. Está un poquito alejado del centro de Cercedilla pero se llega en 15 minutillos a paso tranquilo, o directo en bus (que está al lado). Genial experiencia.

A little gem well worth visiting
Reviewed By Dipika1106Pena Pintada was a welcome break from the rush and heat of Madrid. Unfortunately we could only stay for one night but in that time the people and surroundings of the space stole our hearts. Don't worry about opening up Google maps or searching for the property when you arrive at Cercidilla station - the property is a stones throw away. A pleasure for weary legs. Despite the proximity, once you are in the property you can hear a pin drop. There is absolutely no noise pollution or disturbance from the town or the trains, bliss! The property itself is a haven with old school charm. The bedrooms are spacious and airy with a beautiful view of the valley from the comfiest chairs I've sat on in ages. Esther is an absolute delight and went above and beyond on so many occasions, truly making our trip memorable. She personally arranged for us to lunch at a local eatery where our poor Spanish skills really didnt get us very far - which obviously meant the food was very authentic and amazingly tasty. She also helped us book an unforgettable horse riding experience which we were originally told was not possible! If that wasn't enough - Esther insisted on dropping us to the ranch. Just amazing. After so much excitement we needed a good nights sleep at the wonderfully comfortable beds really delivered. In the morning we even had time for a quick stroll/trek with the park entry at the foot of the hotel. We really couldnt have asked for more from the hospitality, comfort or experience. If you are in Cercidilla please do give Pena Pintada a chance to sweep you off your feet.

Perfektes Wochenende

Unser Plan war erstmal zum Kletterwald in der Nähe zu gehen , dann an dem Tag in der Nähe zu übernachten und am nächsten Tag ein bisschen Waldwege zu entdecken und dann zum Schwimmbad neben der Kletterwald zu gehen. Da dieses Hotel einfach nebenan liegt , haben wir uns für es entschieden und haben wir es nicht bereut. Für das Geld haben wir bekommen , was wir erwartet haben. Essen war super und reichlich. Service war super nett , die haben sogar extra Wünsche erfüllt. Da sind mehrere Prominenten auch gegangen ( Fußballer vom Real Madrid und berühmte Schauspieler ) Zimmer war in Ordnung und ruhig. Ich werde definitiv zurückkommen.
