The only hotel in Europe built on stilts, the Palafitte enjoys an exceptional setting. Each one of its 40 rooms is a spacious individual bungalow. The exclusive architecture gives the guest a feeling of escape, inside and out. Besides the individual bungalows, the hotel comprises of a large lobby, which has been newly renovated in harmony with the architectural style of the location, a reception, bar, smoking room and a restaurant with a large terrace. The restaurant has been recently renovated and renamed "La Table de Palafitte". The new décor accentuates the main assets: the view over the lake and the Alps. The cuisine favours local market produce. Besides the classic dishes that are available throughout the year, the menu is tailored to the seasons.

From professional reservation till friendly checkout it left nothing to be desired. We had two connected units (2nd lakefront layer) and the arrival experience is already very pretty. A unique architectural property for the individuals among us. The reception area is stylish, the bar/lounge area beautiful. When we went to our units, we loved their interior, the beautiful terraces with an astonishing view and total privacy, the superb beds and pillows. It was a bit too warm in the room airco wise, but nothing an open window won‘t fix. The bathroom was fantastic as well. Some of the comments on wear and tear: well, it‘s 20 years it‘s here and there some evidence of that, but what we saw remained astonishingly pretty and it was nowhere rundown. It just shows it‘s not built in 2021. You have the feeling you‘re on your own boat on the ocean somewhere: such total privacy, such a private domain: what an oasis of tranquility. Breakfast was fantastic, varied, fresh and with the same astonishing view as everywhere on this property (no pricetag on a sunrise on Lac Neuchatel). I know not one single hotel in Switzerland that compares with this: an absolutely unique property in a positive sense. Can‘t wait to be back in summer!!

Amazing experience at O’Raclette
Reviewed By Carlos BEven though the health situation was uncertain, we decided to celebrate our Christmas dinner in the winter restaurant O'Raclette. The concept is absolutely fantastic ? An original mountain restaurant atmosphere with probably the best raclette cheese you will find in Switzerland ! On the sanitary level, everything was set up with hand sanitizer and protective masks, we felt safe all night long ? Thanks to Beau-Rivage Hotel we spent a great dinner with the team, we will definitly be back next year ?

Reviewed By CS_CliffordExcellent location, a few minutes walk from the lakeside and ten minutes walk into the town centre. Very friendly staff and an excellent no-frills hotel, perfect for our requirements. No dedicated parking but easy to find an on-street parking spot nearby in a safe and quiet area. The hotel provided a parking card that could be displayed within the car to avoid fees. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Reviewed By ursulacostabonedWe stayed here for three nights, we choose an executive room with lake view and it was great. The views amazing and we really enjoyed the balcony over the lake. Breakfast was really nice, with hot meals and a selection of fresh fruit/pastries/cheese They have space to park the bikes on the garage for free. For the car, it’s better to book although we were super lucky and could leave the car on the street for free since it was holidays (we didn’t move it during the stay). The only negative point is about sustainability, they still use plenty of single use plastic for amenities, don’t have a policy to reuse towels, etc I believe nowadays, they could do a lot with small changes.

Reviewed By 948maijabDue to COVID there are many things that are weird, for example breakfast buffet. Coffee is really bad for gourmet kitchen; food in general is good, not to complain. Service is very average, some people working in the hotel are nice and helpful, some very unfriendly even rude. Rooms are not clean, many old items, toilets and bath in room (for 450,- a night...) with rust spots, a lot of dust and very dry air. There is a major reconstruction in front of hotel right now, which means a lot of noise, no nice view and no playground for kids. If you are with kids don’t stay here! Playground that is in the photos is under reconstruction, there is no playroom or any other activities for kids. Kids are allowed only in pools, which are nice, but generally not a family friendly hotel.

From the wonderful food and products at the restaurants/shop, to the beautiful views from our window and the walk around the farm, it felt like we were not only enjoying our holiday but also contributing to a real human-built sustainable space. If we did it again, we would only change going by car, to make it more accessible and possible to travel around the beautiful area more. But even if you go by public transport it is well located and the complimentary travel helps a lot. Overall, a beautiful stay. Thank you L’Aubier team!

Reviewed By 935elsalWe stayed there two nights during the Corona Shut-Down in Switzerland. The staff was very friendly and we had a great time. We had a double room with a private bathroom. Everything was very clean and we liked the look of the room. The breakfast was good and all we needed. We definitely recommend this place!

Reviewed By Eli GWe spent one night in this hotel. We felt humiliated The price was kind of too high for a 2 stars hotel anyway we reserved. There was no option for elevator to the second floor and we had to carry our large suitcases through the stairs The matress was the worst we have slept on, for years The curtain in the shower is not really a way to stop the water from being spelt over the whole floor - even "a half a star" hotels are using glass walls to do it. Look for another hotel to spend the night

Reviewed By saronicIn my view the 'Eagle Hotel' in the attractive village of Couvet, is an ideal place to stay for its aesthetics, its comfort and as a base for exploring the interesting Val de Travers. Besides there is an excellent restaurant attached with mainly produce 'du terroir' (of the region), which has a separate entry in Tripadvisor. From Couvet's railways station it is an about 7 minutes walk up the 'Grande-Rue', the main road, on which this former horse changing post from the 18th century is standing. At the front of the building is an arched gable, an architectonical feature often seen on traditional Emmental farmhouses, where it is called a 'Ründe'. Check-in was fast and I got a room on the first floor. There is no elevator, but help is offered, when needed. My room was looking over the terrace at the back. Some traffic noise can be expected from the main road or maybe from guests at the terrace, but only with open windows, almost none though at night. Very quiet with windows closed. The room was quite spacious, with parquet flooring, tastefully decorated and very comfortable with all I needed (no need I have for A/C at this altitude and for a minibar, which both were absent). The bathroom has enough storage space and there is even the possibility to get the shower full of steam, something not often seen. Breakfast has the classical Swiss choice with yoghurt, fruit salad, flakes and oats, with cheeses, cold cuts, boiled eggs, honey, jams and croissants. Coffee from the 'La Semeuse' roastery in La-Chaux-de Fonds is brought to the table, as well as the bred. By the restaurant is also a small shop with local produce, mainly with bottles of Val-de-Travers' famous absinthe to take home or for a present.
