A very cosy place near a river. Though I was alone, the women made me feel at home. The atmosphere is nice and warm. I enjoyed a beautiful fish with a delicious dessert! The bed is good and the sound of the river made it romantic.

Hotel Rural Las Montanas de Pumar

Couldn't make my mind up about this place

Reviewed By Allforthedog

You drive for about 17 km into the rural countryside from Cangas then a further 4 km on a dirt track. It is remote so if you want to get away from everyone this has something to offer - a good covid retreat. It is dog friendly and there are numerous walks that you can take. The valley however is one that is subject to commercial forestry to the hillsides are all ugly and scarred with forest roads. Not the prettiest despite the remoteness. They have a variety of activities on offer, horse riding, 4 x 4 driving and enduro motorbikes. The hotel is modern and is in renovated old farm buildings that very nearly works. The room that we had was bright airy and modern if a little basic. There was a desk with a chair that you have to contort yourself to sit at. More thought needed. Despite the advertising information e.g. her on TA where it says there is air conditioning in the rooms, after several hours of playing with the temperature control it turns out there is no air conditioning and given it was warm when we were there it was badly missed. They did bring us an portable a/c unit on our third night but it was cooler by then. They also advertised High Speed WiFi but that wasn't true either. Very slow and intermittent. If you need WiFi go elsewhere. The best asset is the manager / chef who you could not fault for his effort and I suspect the place wouldn't work without him. They did say that they wanted to encourage international visitors but no English speaking TV and the restaurant doesn't open until 9:00 pm which is too late for many. The food was not great and if you were on half pension the meal options were limited though they did go out of their way to provide vegetarian for my partner. One night I had sea bass that was raw on one side and burned on the other. Breakfast was reasonable, though no chocolate and they will bring something cooked on request. If you want to get away this is a good place. If you want somewhere nice to stay in the area to use as a base this is 45 minutes away from the main road and you would find better accommodation, better rooms, better food and better value at the Parador in Corias. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back so that means I won't go back. However it is not the worst place that you can stay and its remote location is its biggest attraction.

Parador de Corias

The Parador de Corias is located in the lovely Asturias town of Cangas del Narcea, in a spectacular monastery that has been declared a National Historical-Artistic Monument. Known as El Escorial of Asturias, the name alone will give you an idea of its elegance and monumental structure. The basement houses a lovely museum where you can view the archaeological remains of the original building, which dates to the early 11th century. The view of the mountain landscape and Narcea River from the windows of the guest rooms is spectacular. The Tuscan-style church with its ample spaces and large baroque altarpiece is also worth a visit. The hotel offers function rooms equipped for banquets, conferences and any other event you might wish to hold. This Parador sets the standard for tourism and gastronomy in an area of great natural beauty, surrounded by magical forests and rural landscapes which display different colors for each season of the year.Next to the Parador there is a Roman bridge, on which the passing of the centuries has left ruts in the stones, inviting you to set out on a walk through the area, leave all of your cares behind and relax. These same trails will take you to gorgeous spots such as the Fuentes Nature Reserve, Muniellos Reserve or El Cuetu d' Arbas Reserve, where bears and capercaillies leave their tracks on the beautiful green mantle of vegetation. In the mountains surrounding the Parador, vineyards of Mencia, Albarin, Carrasquin, Verdejo Tinto and other grapes grow to maturity, painstakingly cared for by local growers. The town of Cangas de Narcea is just two kilometers from the Parador de Corias. Dotted with beautiful churches, palaces and mansions, it is a charming village you will enjoy visiting. Some of the loveliest sights include the collegiate church of Santa Maria Magdalena, Omana Palace, Toreno Palace and Virgen del Acebo Chapel. We look forward to welcoming you to one of the largest Paradores in Spain, an oasis of peace and tranquility in the midst of a fairytale landscape.

Short one night stay

We would have liked to stay longer - really a beautiful site. The library occupied quite a lot of our time. The breakfast was well organized so that not too many people were in the room at the same time. For those with a lesser appetite we suggest the bar for evening meal.

Delicious traditional homemade food and a charming family!

Reviewed By hhigle

We just stopped by to eat before hiking nearby and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and friendly reception from the owners. We felt like we were invited into someone's home to eat what they would have proudly served their own family! Fresh vegetables from the garden and organic local products, definitely worth a stopover!

Hiighly recommended beautiful small B&B

Reviewed By julietten683

This is deservedly a well-rated small rural hotel, and one local place we visited commented that the owner has been instrumental in helping sustainable tourism in the area. She was fantastic: very welcoming, served a great breakfast eaten family-style around the dining table, and made us very welcome during our stay. She also made some great recommendations for dinner in nearby villages and local places to visit. The building is beautiful- a stone and slate mountain house, with lovely central courtyard in which to sit and a cosy sitting room. Our room was really comfortable, spacious and with everything we needed and we had a great night´s sleep. We booked for its proximity to Muniellos, but it´s so much more than this; it would be a lovely place to stay for several days, and a good price at which to do so, and explore the beautiful valley of Narcea, which we´ve been to several times, but is always worth a visit. A highly recommended place to stay!

A very nice place, quiet and well situated in Cangas de Narcea

Reviewed By BViajera

This hotel was a nice stay in Cangas. The rooms were very clean and a good size. The hotel had a lovely garden area where to seat and relax. It also provided food in the restaurant. The sleep was good as the place was quite although it was hot when we were there and if you open the window it is not so quiet so it could do with a ceiling fan for the summer months. There is a very lovely walk nearby in la ruta del vino so nice to go to Cangas by foot and come back watching the stars at night through that route. Overall value for money and a pleasant stay.
