Reviewed By gnarfle23I picked this hotel at 5 am after a sleepless night at a fancy hotel in Cooperstown. I needed a place for the two nights we weren't going to stay in that place. We were headed to Pennsylvania anyway and decided to go early. The Inn at Mendenhall was our reward. The place was clean and comfortable. The bedding and towels were generous. They had really nice soap. The breakfast is lovely and served with real cutlery and plates. Best of all, the staff were warm, helpful, and courteous. They seemed genuinely glad we were there.

Reviewed By JamRes4Hotel room was filthy and infested with spiders. We were charged entirely too much per night. We would have been better off staying in Philadelphia and making the drive to our event that Saturday morning. We never dart the doors of this hotel again.

A complimentary breakfast was offered with better than average food than other hotel complimentary breakfasts. Room was large and had a curtain that divided the room to offer some privacy from the other person that may be working at the desk or sleeping.

Good hotel not too far from Philly on the way back west
Reviewed By MichaelS848484Our stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Exton was good (but not great). The front desk staff is friendly & accommodating, but there was rarely someone AT the desk; they were always in the back, & there was not a bell to ring for attention. So guests stand there awkwardly, trying to make noise (clearing your throat, etc.), hoping someone will hear & come out. The hotel is laid out a bit strangely. The entrance & lobby are at one far end of the building (instead of the middle). As such, the walk to the room can be far from the elevator If someone in your party has limited mobility, be sure to ask for a room close to the elevator. The breakfast was typical for HIE. They had the hot foods (pre-made omelets, sausage oatmeal) & continental items (muffins, bagels). They also had the signature HIE cinnamon rolls. The layout of the breakfast area is also a bit odd. There is a room for the staff between the dining area & the area with the food, so you have to walk through a wide hallway to get back to the food. It’s not a big problem, but just a strange design choice. The room was fine. The 4 pillows on the bed gave good choices of thickness/firmness so you have what you like. The curtains let in a bit more light than I typically like (they are blinds instead of curtains, & light gets around the sides). The one complaint I have about the room is that the cold water in our room (435) came out very warm. I wonder if this is true of other rooms as well. I also saw some small ants in the bathroom (some dead, but at least one still moving). Overall, I wouldn’t avoid staying here, but I wouldn’t rush back, either.

Bloody comforter
Reviewed By 147AdventureNo easy way to say this- the comforter on my bed had someone else’s blood on it- eww! It was late I was exhausted and warm as I couldn’t get the room to cool. So I pushed off the comforter and when I turned on the light saw the side next to my body- as it didn’t have a cover had dried blood! Yep- I had been sleeping with someone else’s blood next to me. I am still horrified. When I reported to the clerk in the am she said they would change. Well after 12 hours of work when I returned not only had the room not been touched but the bloody comforter was still there. The night desk clerk was nice and brought up new bedding which I had to make. She apologized and said they only had 2 house cleaners and did the best they could. I have been traveling for 20 years for work and this is the most unacceptable and sickening experience. It is a pandemic and this is the level of care you give to your guests? I will be staying in Exton as I will never stay at this hotel. Be warned travelers they dont have staff to actually assure your rooms are clean and dried blood on a white comforter is just nasty. Shame on you Courtyard. Good news I sent the pics to our company operations and they won’t be putting people up there anymore. Unlike you courtyard who doesn’t do the minimal to assure your guests are safe in a pandemic- Absolutely unacceptable- nasty and just disgusting.

The food at the rehearsal dinner was so delicious & our bartender was the most happy, lovely, personable woman I've ever met! I would recommend the Desmond for everything wedding related!

Reviewed By cooldadmikeThough I’ve visited many Hilton Garden Inn‘s across the country, I noticed that quality seems to be lacking in the state of Pennsylvania in general and this particular Hilton Garden Inn is no exception. Upon entering I had issues with the digital key being assigned to my app. After ordering the steak dinner, the steak was extremely tough to chew and could not finish so I had to go to Wendy’s to satisfy my hunger. The location is in a great place as it is it is across the street from a Target, Wendy’s, Anytime fitness and other great stores/businesses. Since I did not have a lot o’ faith in the dining, you can drive 10 minutes away for breakfast to O’Grady‘s family restaurant where they have a diner type of feel and an old fashion American breakfast waiting for you to enjoy. Best part of my trip! unfortunately that day we had a bunch of teenage kids bragging about getting kicked out of a floor due to them knocking on doors/then dash. What’s worse is that the parents encouraged the behavior and had a quick chuckle about it. Other than that the bed was nice and clean and the mattress comfortable. I was able to control the temperature down to 68° where I had a nice cool sleep environment. we did have somewhat of an ant problem in the bathroom - about five or six small carpenter ants. market place also needed to be restocked with more drinks and snacks. so in conclusion, I would not expect too much from Pennsylvania unless you are from Pennsylvania and you are used to that standard of service and expectation.
