The 10 best hotels in Augusta, United States

June 23, 2022 Sheron Bogner

Originally an English trading post on the Kennebec River, Augusta has since grown to be the capital of Maine, and is focused on preserving and celebrating the state’s history. Visit the magnificent Maine State House or Old Fort Western, the oldest surviving wooden fort in the United States. The city is also the home of the Pine Tree State Arboretum, a 224-acre park and botanic garden, with six miles of hiking, biking and cross-country skiing trails, open for free, all year round.

Okay but not worth the price

Have stayed here twice, the service is very good.. but the place in general is drab, musky and the rooms are very outdated and in poor general condition.. stained toilet seat covers, yellowed paint, worn out furniture..etc.. breakfast and service are the only plus's in this place.. found a much better place and better rates elsewhere.. This Best Western plus is definitely disappointing at best.

Good value

Reviewed By TerraceSnob

Good value for the money. Close to the highway for easy on/off. Free parking. Free WiFi. Free breakfast. Clean, pretty quiet rooms. A little dated but for the price it works. Comfortable bed. Super hot shower. Water filtration system is great. Filters out most chemicals. There is even a filter on the water in the sink so you can actually drink the water. Walking distance to a couple of restaurants and grocery store where you can also get food from the food bar. Front desk staff is awesome! Very friendly and accommodating. Shopping area less than three miles away in case you need something or want to get out. The only thing that would have made us happier would have been a bigger TV but like I said for the price it’s a good deal.

Helpful Staff

Stayed the night here with my family. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean. A little humid. We had very noisy neighbors who woke us in the middle of the night. The woman at the desk handled it immediately and was persistent with them which was greatly appreciated. It’s a Super 8 so don’t expect anything fancy. But we were comfortable and appreciated the friendliness and excellent service provided by the staff.

Very close to the University of Maine and the Civic Center. Right off of Route I-95. Plenty of parking. Safe area. Clean room. Friendly front desk. Good climate control. NOTE: The SE corner of Ninety Nine Restaurant is literally butt-up against the NW end of the hotel. Unless, you like the smell of food in your hotel room, avoid ALL rooms in the north wing of the hotel. Request any room other than 100 to I think 110. YMMV on the other floors.
