Nice Property - a Few Issues

Reviewed By 685lesat

Property is actually an attractive, clean facility. There was one front desk employee who was quite personable and we felt welcome every time we walked by the front desk since he made an effort to speak and say something friendly. The room was clean and serviced daily. The breakfast was adequate - nothing special. I was impressed that the small pool had ramp access for special needs patrons. I had an issue with the type of room and subsequent change in rates upon arrival from what I had originally reserved. The front desk/manager tried to make adjustments to the charges on my credit card - but it took several emails and several days to get that issue resolved. Also, they add a $7/day parking fee to your bill. I am not sure why - the property has no valet and is not in the midst of any special parking structure - that was a total ripoff. I found it interesting when we arrived first night, we were checking in at the front desk and asked where the ice machine was located, we were told by the lady at the front desk that they didn't have ice machines - we were told to turn on the ice maker in the room refrigerator and the ice would be coming in a couple of hours. While I was still at the front desk, two gentlemen came to the front desk and asked the same question - the same lady told those two guys to wait and she would take care of them. Hmmm.

We were in Houston for an extended stay for medical treatment for my husband at MD Anderson and incredibly grateful to ESA for partnering with the American Cancer Society. We were both comfortable there and felt at home. We were even there for the BIG FREEZE in February and the hotel staff was organized and made everything bearable. Norma was a big help with a reservation problem. Princess, Tam and Sandy were always helpful at the front desk and greeted us with a smile. Sherita in housekeeping was always ready to help and I met the manager Alexis who was cheerful and enthusiastic with her staff and visitors. Being there for 2 months, we inevitably had to call maintenance once or twice and they were always handy. We will be back to stay at ESA NRG Park, La Concha, Houston, TX. Thank you guys.

You Can Do Better

Reviewed By Z437THmargarets

You know what they say: 'Location, Location, they don't care about quality or service, Location.' Management for Gulfstream Condos has become just a little too greedy. With the utmost respect to the adherence of COVID procedures, Gulfstream is unashamedly riding on the profits made from reduced services. Specifically, as noted, you will receive no cleaning service or replacement of anything other than towels during your stay, but with the full charge of $115 flat rate. Second, and this feels a little shady, but you're charged the full amount upfront at booking. This isn't industry standard and makes it quite difficult if you become clear headed and decide to cancel. Third, since this building was apparently built around the time Jesus was a baby, there are obvious drawbacks like working elevators, decent water pressure, or carpet in the communal areas where you can play the game, 'guess the original color.' A silver lining will be if you will receive a condo from a thoughtful owner, i.e. people who keep up with the unit providing things like mattresses which aren't tacos and towels free of stains. And when you get frustrated with staff, weird smells, or things that don't work, just remember you're only there for the convenience of the beach.

Our condo 504 needed work

Reviewed By maryannn210

The day we arrived we were switched to this unit since ours had flooded. We had reserved 3 units side by side for a family reunion. They wouldn’t let us stay the first night in 504 and move to our original condo next to our children because there was a “3 night minimum stay”! Really?!? The unit they gave us needs an overhaul. No ice maker. We Reported it first day and no one ever came the entire week. No ice machine at the complex either! The blinds were trashed and wouldn’t close in our master bedroom. This was also reported and never got a response. Had the city lights all night and full sun at sunup. Hard to sleep. Bed wasn’t comfortable. The tiles on the balcony were apart. Many were lose and a trip hazard. The view was nice. The beach was quite a hike away but nice. There are shops and places to eat walking distance. Overall, it was very inconvenient and disappointing not to be in our original condo and we would not return to this complex. We enjoyed our time with family and the beach.

Perfect little spot

We stayed in an efficiency with Nora and it was great for what we needed. Room was completely updated and decorated so cute! We had two adults and two kids and it was great for three nights. A week in those close quarters might be a bit much. We drove to beach( three blocks maybe walk) and no view that was only downside. We visited pool once and it was clean with a few palm tree for shade. Would for sure stay again for the price we paid.

This place is a LOT of fun!! Yes, there is construction going on. It's really a non-issue if you need the truth. The restaurant IS set up in a tent, but I'm talking a top of the line "I forgot this is a tent, tent" if you know what I mean. The staff is amazing and the room we had was top notch. I HIGHLY recommend a stay here!!

Save your money and don't book here

Reviewed By Cindy E

My husband and I stayed here November 14-18. We had a standard studio room. The bed was horrible. You could see the indentations in the bed where other people had slept. We tried flipping the mattress but that was worse! Then we both sunk to the center of the bed. There were no hangars. My husband called the office to let them know there were no hangars and asked for hangars. A while passes so he calls again! After another 20 minutes and still no hangars so he went to the front desk inquiring about the hangars. Her only response was "How was I to know whether or not they were brought to your room. 10 minutes later a young man brought me one hangar! We had to literally tell him how many hangers I needed. This room had a full size fridge, a cooktop and a microwave. For utensils, I has a couple of knives, a few spoons and a few forks. I had 4 plates and 3 coffee cups. Not a single item matched. Most of them look as if they were purchased in a used store when actually they should have gone in the trash. When my husband went to inquire about the kitchen items, they told him that they have no control over the items in the rooms as all the facilities are owned by individuals. If that is the case, then why are all the toiletries the same. Also why is all the artwork on the walls purchased at the same place? I can confirm these statements as our son and his family were staying in a two bedroom condo at the same location. They has the same towels and the same artwork. They say they come by each day and knock on the door to ask about our need for towels. I was in the room both days when I heard something being put in the door jam. It was a paper saying they came by and knocked on the door but we didn't answer. Funny, I was in the room and they never knocked. The most irritating thing was when the employees decided they needed to do laundry at 11:00 at night. The washers and dryers are right up against the wall where our headboard is. No sleep for us!!
