Constant smell off swage in the apartment coming from the bathroom. Apartment infested with ants Cleaners not doing there Job had our floor mopped once in our 18 night stay and that's only because we asked . We had to book another hotel for a few days just to get away . We did 3 nights in another hotel to come back and the cleaners still haven't been to change our bedding and give us fresh towels. Finally had to move apartments as ants where everywhere. In the new apartment to find dirty underwear under the bed and in the bin. We have been to lanzarote many times and stayed in several different hotels and this is the only one I needed to complain about.

Bluesea Lanzarote Palm

smartline Lanzarote Palm is on the south coast of Lanzarote, one of the Spanish Canary Islands. The island, which is off the coast of North Africa and has a subtropical climate, is famous for its volcanic landscape and its beaches. The hotel is in a popular area a short walk from the beach in Puerto del Carmen, a seaside resort with lots of bars and shopping opportunities. The hotel consists of whitewashed buildings in a Mediterranean style. There are palm trees dotted around the grounds, plus a garden where you can lounge on in the sun. The hotel has two outdoor pools, one of which is for children. As you enjoy the outside area, you can get a drink at the pool bar between dips. There's a pool table if you fancy challenging a fellow guest to a game or two over a beer. Reception is open 24 hours. There's a mini market where you can pick up essentials. When it's time to head out of the hotel, you'll find plenty to experience in the wider area surrounding smartline Lanzarote Palm.

Long Honest review. If food was better I'd visit again but sadly wouldn't as it is now. 3* not 4*.

On arrival reception is a lovely area. The lady on the desk was lovely and let us know we could use the toilet to change, use the pool and sunbeds whilst waiting to check in. We arrived at 11am and its a strict 3pm check in, no earlier. We requested to be above ground floor and we got given a second floor room which was fab. The room is good, not the best but by far not the worst. The reason I say not the best would be not a 4* standard. I'd say a 3* at the most. If base on a 3* then the room goes to great. It is spacious for two 100% but would be tight for anymore. Beds comfy, plenty of wardrobe space although not enough hangers for two. Air con unit in the bedroom only and not very powerful. I've seen people saying they had to pay for the safe, i never this week so a bit confused by that, i just reset it and used freely. Bathroom was great, the best bit actually, the shower was amazing, standard and rain Forrest style. Kitchen area is well equipped if want to cook for yourself or use any items. Living area had a good size TV, good size coffee table and dining table and a sofa bed. The sofa bed was uncomfortable to use as a sofa as a little hard so we actually popped the zbed out from underneath to use as a foot rest type and although still uncomfortable, it made it much better. The balcony was great, a large airer to dry towels, table and three chairs. Perfect to sit out the whole day if wanted and even eat out there. All rooms had a view of pool, we had a view facing the pool and bar which was great. The pool is good, again not the best but great for what you pay, this is a budget holiday at the end of the day. Big enough, deep enough and yes, ofcourse it's cold at first but not unbearable as some reviews have said. You just need to spend a good few minutes getting your body used to it then it's beautiful. Several times i spent atleast 20 - 30 minutes at a time in the pool. What I liked is the top of the pool had a platform, which you could sit on if wanted to cool off but not go in, many done this. Also a smaller pool for children. Location, personally I think its great. Its on the top of a hill yes, but even if your not 100% on your feet I'd say it was manageable with a slower walk but you can pick up a taxi from the strip to the hotel for €3 or rent mobility scooter too. On the road down to the prom you have a few little corner shops and a big supermarket. Also a few places to book trips. A tattoo shop also before the end of the room which i used. You go down the hill and turn left or right for many shops, bars, restaurants etc. There is a arcade, bowling and casino on the front too. Drinks, bar and food. Well this is the longest I think so be prepared. On check you have to pick which time you would like for your breakfast, lunch and dinner. Whilst some didnt agree with this we did. Its simy to make sure the restaurant isnt crowded and food for everyone. On check in day we where also allowed lunch which was nice of them as 3 hours earlier than we having our bands. Firstly, you will not starve here as food is food, but the quality is not great and the variety is worse. Breakfast- Do not have an omelette please, I beg you, three different occasions I had one to see if it improved and all three times it was raw. The chef does these on the show cooking station and literally leaves it for maybe 30 seconds before folding over and then 30 seconds the other side, the middle is pure raw and will make you sick. I had sausages and a type of hash brown which where nice and good old toast and jam. There is bacon of some sort, beans, fruit etc not a great variety but again you won't starve but be prepared eggs are not their forte here as even the fried eggs where very very snotty. Lunch- Again not a great variety but some ok. I love veg where as my partner doesn't so I was more pleased, there was atleast two veg every lunch. Some rice dishes where ok but bland. The show cooking section tends to be the best but again don't expect to much, fresh bread was out daily and this is always a plus. A small salad bar stocked well and then staple dishes like fries available. We had fries most days which wasn't ideal but the best choice so that says it all. I tried a pizza one day and as you can see from the picture it had no sauce and some crispy stuff on it and I couldn't bite into it. Dinner- Again, the same amount of variety but a bit better of an evening. Some nights was like you where in a different hotel and wowed us. A pork leg one night was beautiful, other half had with chips I had with potatoes and veg, this was my favourite by far. One evening there was fajitas which where very nice too. Other nights we hardly ate. Our last night disappointed us the most, you want to leave on a full belly normally but we didn't eat much at all as it was all fish. Show cooking was squid, there was mackerel, muscles, cockles, fish fingers etc. A few people didn't like last night and the fact there was literally just a rib in terms of meat. However if you love fish it would have been fantastic, but again bread and fries available. All in all, like at the very beginning, you won't starve and some dishes are good and days better than others, but overall food is not to the standard of a 4*. Id suggest taking a bit of cash for a treat meal or two out. It's very cheap on the front, we enjoyed a full on Chinese for two with drinks for less than €30. Bar- You pay €1 for a cup which you swap out each drink for a fresh one if wanted. We actually paid for two cups each so we didn't have to walk to the bar so often. This was not a problem as at the end of the day we paid our deposits. They are not the biggest as people say yes, but they are enough, especially if have two. Drink options on all inclusive are good. Soft, hot, spirits, beer, wine and cocktails. We where ok with the drinks, no complaints. My partner had rum, Gin and beer and I stuck to peach schnapps and a couple of cocktails. There are premium brands to purchase for cash if desired. Staff- Very understaffed. I get that around the world the hospitality sector is struggling still and I absolutely praise the staff here. The bar staff do the bar and restaurant. They will literally be serving on the bar whilst marking room numbers off for lunch then run around cleaning plates and back to the bar. They speak good English, some better than others particularly the bloke who took the mick out of us, he was a great laugh. The cleaners/maids do a great job, the room was cleaned to a great standard every two days. Fresh towels and sheets, bins emptied, floors moped you name it. Receptionist where lovely, they booked a cab for us to the airport, directed us to the bus for the market, they helped me with doctor and chemist info for my partner, they helped me celebrating my partners birthday by giving us a bottle of sparkling wine. This was lovely of them, it was brought to our room too!! We sat on our balcony and watched the entertainment last night with it, absolutely perfect and could not thank them enough. Entertainment/to do- The only Entertainment was on Thursday night, this was a singer for two hours roughly, he was amazing and the change in atmosphere due to having a act on was amazing. I sat on the balcony every night and Thursday I'd never seen so many sat on balconies watching him and singing along. I'd highly recommend more Entertainment, it was lovely to see. Other than this there is a pool table by the bar. A few people gathered around the bar of an evening but from the looks of it most people went out or to the rooms. There is nothing to do in the hotel other than the above pool table. Recommend- I'd highly recommend this if you are wanting a good cheap holiday, close to beaches and shops, hot showers and clean beds for a total chill. For example my mother would love this hotel, i know she would as its simple and she would eat out. I wouldn't recommend if you want things to do in the hotel, don't want to eat out or have children.

This was our second stay at costa mar, our first was 5 years ago. The hotel and rooms are clean. We had a ground floor room in block e. We had two double bedrooms and a sofa bed. We stayed self catering, room had a hob and basic cooking utensils. Across the road from the hotel is a spar. Towels are changed regular. The staff are all friendly and made us feel welcome. The hotel is across the road from a beach and has a few shops and restaurants outside. Transfer from the airport was around 12 euros. You can walk to the main strip in 20-30mins, or 5euro in a taxi. We would stay here again.

Great Location

We stayed here during Christmas & New Year 2021/22, location of the hotel is excellent and very close to the old town & the new town. So very easy for getting around. Apartments could do with being updated, though in saying that they were basic but nothing wrong with them. We stayed in one close to the Drunken Monkey, so if your not staying out at night there would be noise. This didn't bother us as we were out late. There was quite a lot of noise early in the mornings with traffic, so if booking again i'd prefer one looking out on the pool area. Apartments were clean and towels were changed regularly. Staff and reception very good. Great spot for a budget trip and well located.
