Not what it used to be…

We have stayed at Edgewater several times over the years and absolutely loved the location and service, until this last trip. Beware of unit 514 and service in general! The unit is severely outdated - broken floor tiles, missing terrace edge pavers, poorly kept, paint chips on the walls and ceilings throughout, broken fans, sand in both bunk beds, left over items from previous guests not cleaned up before our arrival, no ice machine (one was installed 3 days prior to departure), non-functioning TVs, etc. The cleaning service is terrible for the rooms too. Check-out is at 9am with check-in at 4pm. The room servicing/cleaning should be completed without issue. Our 8 guests arrived to a unit with only 2 bath towels and a missing fitted sheet for the bed in the master bedroom. Additional towels were provided several hours after notice was provided to the front desk and the fitted sheet was NEVER provided during our stay. Although the pool area and beach entry was clean and well kept, the actual accommodations need some serious improvements - not just for aesthetics, but for safety. The security gate in/out of the property was broken a majority of the time we were there allowing anyone onto the property. We have had such a great experience in the past and were excited to bring our extended family this year, but how disappointing and embarrassing! We will be finding a new property from now on!

Waterscape Condominiums, professionally managed by Wyndham Vacation Rentals, are located on beautiful Okaloosa Island, which is infamous for its emerald green waters and white sandy beaches. Waterscape was constructed as a U-shaped property to house the "heartbeat" of the facility; the tropical oasis and pools. Waterscape has a two tiered pool deck separated by a 10 foot waterfall. The lower pool deck includes a large zero entry pool with spray toys and lily pads for the young at heart. The resort's lower pool deck features a long lazy river for you to float down on resort inner tubes. The upper deck houses a seasonally heated pool. There is a children's splash area on the upper pool deck that features toys for toddlers and a covered play area for maximum sun protection. There are two hot tubs located in the tropical oasis for your relaxation.

Getting a condo at the last minute is always like throwing dice. We lucked out to find one on the 29th floor of this place for the dates we needed. Upon arrival we found a security guy that gave us the instructions needed to gain entry. The parking garage across the street was packed but we found a spot. We walked across the 2nd floor crosswalk tunnel and checked in, got a cart and made our way to the condo. Waiting for the elevator we spent a good 15 minutes staring at the numbers move slowly. And we waited....... We did learn that there was another elevator hiding down the hall so we started using that one later in the trip but it was still a long wait at times. 7AM - no elevator problem. 8AM complete nightmare for the rest of the day. Tidewater was clean, lots of security constantly moving about. To rent beach chairs and umbrella was going to be $200 for 3 days so we opted out of that. Pools were chilled so nothing like a bathtub experience.. Panama City Beach Pier area was lively...if you enjoy loud music coming from all the kids cruising the strip and acting like fools. As I have aged I have less appreciation for teenagers on vacation and there were plenty of them this past weekend. The beach was crowded...very...but well maintained and clean. All in all if you like noise, are in no hurry to leave or get to your condo, and love rubbing shoulders on the beach then this is for you.....

The Commodore

Quiet and great location

Reviewed By Engelbert30184

This is our 2nd time renting a Condo here and both experiences were great! Joanne at booking was extremely helpful in walking us through the often confusing maze of booking. We reported two small issues upon arrival (leaking faucet etc,) and the next day Amber was going to send maintenance over but we told her the issues were not bothering us. The unit#102 was ground floor perfect and the view was amazing. Some Condos' provide free beach chairs, this unit #102 does not, so watch out for those independent beach chair rental folk about price gouging. Tyler was the best to work with and nice but you do not want Peyton, (he wanted more money per day and left the beach at 9am and came back around 2pm). Other than that, love the Commodore!

Summerwind West #904 WORST EVER!!

Reviewed By DonnaDee1205

We have stayed at the Summerwind Resort for 10+ years. This is by far the WORST experience we have ever had. We have never complained about one thing at this resort. This time, however, the experience was so bad that it was almost comical. The first day upon check in we spent over an hour vacuuming up jelly beans, milk duds, and cereal off of the floor and cleaning black grease and hair off of the patio chairs. The bunk beds are BROKEN and almost fell in on our guest. They are held together by cardboard and wooden blocks. This room is also missing the fire detector from the wall (code violation). Had to wash the coverlet in the Master BdRm because it was stained as were many of the towels. In the kitchen the blender was disgustingly dirty & we had to clean it before using. Unfortunately it was apparently broken & fell apart while using. There are rust stains on the counter, no oven mitts or pot holders, oven handle fell off, cookware is ancient, not clean, and thrown into cabinets higgly piggly, & many pieces of dishes & cups are chipped. The "provided" beach chairs look like they are from the 1970's and rusted. Only one of the tvs actually works. Our kids had to watch shows on their computers. The staged photos advertising this unit do not match what we were provided with. Literally the only positive thing I can say about this unit is this: 1) it has AC & running water 2) ample towels & washcloths, and 3) a refrigerator. I am so disappointed that I will have to rethink staying here again. The booking process was different than before so I wonder if the property management company has changed hands. If so, I'm not impressed. :-(

STAY AWAY FROM PORTSIDE N2!!!

My husband and I booked the whole month of Feb. 2020 through Panhandle Getaways. The whole complex is old but fairly kept up on the outside. We didn't use the heated pool or exercise area. There were many friendly Canadians near us. And parking at your front door was convenient. It was nice to have a half bath on the first floor and full bath on the 2nd floor. It was great to have a full size washer and dryer that didn't fog up the place. At night it was a well lit complex. Upon arrival and during the whole month, N2 reeked of mold. My eyes were matted in the morning. We couldn't open the sliding glass doors on either level to get fresh air bc the filthy screens were ripped and flapped in the wind. The first floor sliding glass in the door was taped to the frame. Panhandle came and somewhat cleaned the townhouse for us after we called them. The cracks of the cushions were filthy and there was no sweeper attachment to sweep them so Katie from Panhandle just dusted off the dirt. There were 4 or 5 burned out lightbulbs that had to be replaced. In the kitchen there was an opening under the counter for the trashcan. The floor tile wasn't even completed in this space. The refrigerator had stains (rust?) all over the outside and were impossible to remove. The dishwasher shook heavily when we used it. The knob to turn on the shower kept slipping and the shower squealed and shook when turned on. Kitchen and smaller bedroom blinds were broken and couldn't be opened. The drapes were dingy and held up with PVC piping. The couches were stained with dirt. The upstairs sink counter door kept falling off. It needed larger screws for it to stay in place. We couldn't sit outside bc the furniture was filthy. The second floor deck boards were twisted and unsafe. A rug was placed over these boards to disguise the rot. THE DEADBOLT WAS BROKEN! We were told it was FL code to have a working deadbolt. Nobody wanted to take the responsibility to fix it. We stopped in to tell Panhandle of our concerns. They seemed to care by typing concerns on the computer but did nothing to correct our situation with this less than adequate rental. This townhouse needs a thorough, deep cleaning and updated. Needless to say, we won't be using Panhandle Getaways for our future rentals in this area. We would return to Portside if we could find a clean and updated townhouse. It was a great location west of the more congested Panama City Beach Pier area. It was easy to walk to the beach.

Great Location and View

Reviewed By themidnightrambler

Family of four (mom & dad; 10 yo boy; 14 yo girl) went to Destin for Spring Break. First time in Destin or anywhere on the Florida panhandle. This is an AirBnb/Vrbo condo place. General review we were pleased with the location, safety, and cleanliness. The pool & hot tub area were nice, heated, and good alternative to the beach. Beach service was also good -- unfortunately when we stayed the red flags were almost always up because of the high winds and rip tides. Still the view couldn't be beat and you could still get your feet wet. We liked the set up beach service of chair and umbrella to and love the luxury of not having to worry about setting up your own chairs & hauling stuff. Your position on the beach just varies by the day you rented your unit. The first day we were in the 2nd row of chairs, by the third day we were in the front row. No complaints the view was good either way. Pros: Location and view of the gulf from our unit - A+; also nearby good restaurants (go to the Back Porch!) and stores if you forgot or needed something; quiet and peaceful -- never heard neighbors on either side or above and below -- good soundproofing. Cons: One of the elevators was out the first two days we were there. It was fixed before we left, so they addressed it, but one working elevator with that many units is a nightmare. We definitely got in some extra fitbit steps on the stairs -- not an option for everyone. Biggest con was our unit #513, the king size bed of the master suite is a mushy lump. My back is still sore from it. It NEEDS TO BE REPLACED stat! If vacation is about resting and relaxing it's hard to do that when you dread going to bed, because the bed so uncomfortable. Tips: Kinda related to cons but just in general the kitchen could be stocked better. Hand soap should be provided in kitchen & everywhere. They provided ONE automatic dishwasher tablet. So after the first night we were doing our dishes by hand - not cool on vacation. Would it kill them to provide a few more? So my advice and this goes for all non-hotel rentals, be prepared to bring your own soap, detergent, extra tp, and extra paper towels. I did bring my own k-cups -- and you will need to, none are provided. Final tip - they use a coded number system for everything: room entry, gym, pool, and beach access, etc. If you're like me with a million passwords in your head trying to remember more, is just not gonna happen. Take a picture of the passwords and keep it on your phone. Do that the first day! Overall good though, and we would stay at this property again.

Great condos

My family of three stayed on the third floor of these condos. It is a great condo, clean place. They have a community place to grill. 2 pools that are great. A nice balcony with a side view to the ocean. We get access to a private beach. Which makes it not as crowded on the beach. Condo is small but clean. Beds are comfy. There is a place to wash laundry.
