The 10 best Campgrounds in Taiwan, Taiwan

May 3, 2023 Nicolette Lion

You could spend months exploring Taiwan’s Buddhist temples, villages, cities, and mountains and still barely scratch the surface of all the island has to offer. Here Confucius meets C-pop in a cultural mash-up of a place where traditional festivals are as important as hip-hop and cell phones. Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung each burst with opportunities to explore, learn, shop, and dine. Don’t miss breathtaking natural features like Sun Moon Lake, the hot springs of Tainan, and Taroko Gorge.

Caravan Park

I would not value this experience at $80USD

Though it was advertised as glamping, the glamour was hardly there. I'll break it down into a few sections: 1) accommodation - perhaps the idea of glamping simply means having a bed, tv, and airconditioning, because that was pretty much the glamour we felt in this rather horrid experience. The general surface area within the bubble tent was clean, but if you're a clean freak, don't go around looking behind the TV console or the sides of the tents. Our tv had a large crack running across it. Thankfully, we had our own laptop and movies. The bedding was comfortable, but the overall slack service (more about this later) left us questioning if the sheets had been changed. The airconditioning works fine but we had problems adjusting the temperature. 2) shower facilities - this is just cubicles in container units. They provide shower gel and shampoo in each cubicle and there's two communal hair dryer above the basins outside. Hot water was supposed to run only nightly, from 5-10pm but I discovered that it was available throughout the day (this again is probably due to the slack attitude) 3) breakfast - they provide breakfast but it was simply bread (which you can toast) and various butter/jam and toppings (taiwan styled, which meant you get pork floss). This is it. 4) service - i think this is the one that rubbed us off the most. We get it. It's glamping. It's just insta-worthy camping but at 80USD per night, you would expect something more from the service staff. Lack of enthusiasm (even though we spoke Chinese) and initiative. Staff seemed more concern about doing their own things - watching drama, talking about themselves. We asked a few questions in the beginning but they provided so little in response that we gave up and decided Google was more helpful. 5) security - the flap to the tent is secured by ....a Darth Vadar lock. Yes, a Darth Vadar lock was given to us, the type that you get from a gachapon machine. It could not work and when we pointed it out to the staff, they insisted it could, and even demonstrated futilely. They gave us an alternative number lock with the default 0000 password which they did not allow us to customise. What's the point! In the end (thankfully), they allowed us to use our own lock. 6) general area cleanliness - clean but rather unkempt. Grass was not cut and some portions of the grounds looks like storage for construction work. Overall, I find it difficult to recommend this to anyone. You could hardly see the stars through the transparent roof but the sun got in real quick. Bring eye masks so you can continue sleeping past 5am.

高級露營,人到就好

Reviewed By sis850
