Lovely camp site near lively town

Reviewed By Deramore

My wife and I, and our two dogs, stayed here for two nights in a "Chalet confort". Two bedrooms + sofa bed + shower/separate toilet + kitchen/dining. Campsite is peaceful and secluded, and staff at reception very friendly and helpful. As usual at sites this early in the season, none of the facilities were open (snack bar, pool etc). I always wonder why this is never made clear at booking. But no matter, it was exactly what we wanted. The cabin was very clean and tidy, with an excellent shower and a nice little veranda facing the setting sun. The outside needs a lick of paint, and the grass everywhere needs cut. But I can forgive this entirely at the tail end of a pandemic and in the midst of an economic crisis. Saulieu is only 10 mins walk away and was pleasantly busy on a sunny Saturday morning. We visited the open air market, had a stroll and drank coffee at Café Parisien, where we booked dinner for the evening including live music (guitarist followed by late jazz). For £55 per night this is excellent value.

Cycle Touring

Reviewed By Oisín Ó

I spent one night at this campsite. The family running it were very pleasant and helpful. The site is a few kms outside of town but the staff made the stay worthwhile. I ate in the snack bus that evening and enjoyed a braised ox tongue cooked to perfection. The chef finished off the night singing a few songs. Would I recommend this campsite and restaurant? Absolutely!

A Delightful Alternative to Hotel Stays

Reviewed By Cyclingsanta

We stayed in one of the two dozen small, new, wooden cabins in a peaceful setting away from the highway with farm fields and pastures in the background although we were only a few km from the city of Decize. Our cabin had lots of windows and air circulation, great shower, comfortable bed, and all the necessities for housekeeping. The staff were gracious and helpful. It was a very pleasant change from our usual hotel stays. Wished we had wifi.

Gorgeous green camping with a view

We spent a long weekend at this very well situated camping. It is clean and the staff is super friendly. At the pool bar, we tried the charcuterie board with local meat and cheese and it was delicious. It is nice to walk along the lake, which takes about 30 minutes. We also visited a local vegetable market "Jardins de Longecourt" and a gorgeous village called Châteauneuf-en-Auxois. The bungalows are very clean and cozy with everything you need. We loved it and we are coming back next month!

Good and not so good

Reviewed By NancyFrancophile

Well located camp site on bank opposite the town. The site is laid out on two terraces, the lower one with no views other than a high hedge. The upper terrace has attractive views and nearby electric plug ins, but was filled when we arrived. The lower terrace was not divided up by hedges and campers were parked quite closely together with little privacy. We were given a long electric lead to connect to electric source on the upper level, which took some searching out as free sockets were hard to come by. The other problem was the 300 yard hike to the one toilet block at the entrance - not great if you have no loo in your small camper, and it’s the middle of the night. The toilets and showers were well laid out and immaculate. However, I had to wait 15 minutes and several pleadings in my best French before the cleaning lady would allow me to use “ the end toilet only”. This was around 9 am and the only other free toilet was in the disabled loo / shower and was being used. In the end, and in great discomfort, I was permitted to use one loo only, as was a line of other insistent and slightly rebellious people who followed.

We Would like to say a big thank you to Jeremy and Marion for making our stay most certainly value for money. The site was well kept, very clean and secure. My husband and I had called in hoping to stay for a night or two but ended up staying for 12. The camp site was situated just a short walk into the main town with a variety of shops bars and restaurants. The only downside was that you had to pay extra for the Internet.

Stay here

Googled for a site in this area and found this one. Easy to book on line and easy to find. We received a lovely friendly welcome and the friendliness continued for the whole stay. There is a bar on site which opened at 6pm or a bit earlier every evening. Some pitches get more sun than others. Lots to see in the area. Would definitely stay here again.
