The 10 best Campgrounds in Alaska, United States

April 18, 2023 Nobuko Falco

Alaska is divided into five regions: far north, interior, southwest, south central, and inside passage. Although it takes a long time to see the entire state, you can travel through the regions by boat, car, bus, or plane. Hike through the mountains, or venture out on a deep sea fishing or whale watching excursion. Get in touch with nature by camping in the wilderness, or experience your preferred degree of class and luxury in the beautiful, active cities of Anchorage and Fairbanks.

Enjoyable stay

We spent two nights at the cabins and had a wonderful experience. The cabins were clean, the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The view from our door was spectacular. The staff took great pride in landscaping and had beautiful hanging baskets at each cabin. We were in a cabin that was a duplex and never heard sounds from the room next door. The insulation must be superb! Every staff member we came in contact with was helpful and pleasant. It was a great experience being at McKinley Creekside Cabins.

Wonderful place to stay. Clean and updated without losing the cozy charm. Brandon treats you like a friend staying at his own house. Close and convenient to everything, but off the beaten path. Would definitely look forward to staying there again in the future.

Spending the night in Borealis Basecamp igloos is magical. Beyond the spectacular view, the igloos provide a surprisingly spacious interior with high-level amenities. Drift off to sleep in a luxurious warm bed on an arctic slope while admiring the starry arctic sky eagerly anticipating the Aurora Borealis. With full bath and plenty of warmth, snuggle into your igloo emerging at your choosing.

Shuttled to modern cabins

Reviewed By BigWebO

The cabin is perfect with a rustic feeling but modern plumbing. The room had WIFI that was helpful in sharing online pics of the adventures that day of Denali. The shuttle is an excellent value that can pick you up from the train (or bus) depot, get you to the entrance of Denali (and the park shuttles), and can get you to the nearby tourist area. Rental cars are expensive and this was a huge savings in the shuttle. I highly recommend the onsite restaurant, Prey. The staff is friendly and the food is reasonably priced (for Alaska as getting the ingredients there is pricy!) I enjoyed to breakfast that were tasty (one there and one to-go I ate within Denali Park) and one evening meal with caribou meatloaf. The property is clean and safe but the staff is absolutely outstanding.

Amazing!

We loved this place and the solitude it provided. Our room overlooked the Nenana river! We spent every waking moment taking in the beauty and the views! We brought our own food and had a balcony picnic! We slept with the screen door and fell asleep listening to the river rushing by. It was a 10 out of a 10! Only complaint is not a lot of food options within walking distance but we came prepared and loved it! Thank you Norwegian Cruise Line for selecting this for our tour group!

Twin Peaks lodge is a gem of a place to stay while in Seward Alaska. The quaint lodging is in a unique house with a B&B feel (without the food). Great parking. Rooms are not fancy.. Our only concern was we did not understand that the kitchen area needs to be clean while off doing our thing. We were not introduced to the staff or caretaker.

Love staying here!

Well appointed cabins for a relaxing stay. Kitchenettes are fully stocked with dishes, cookware and some cleaning supplies. Just bring your food! Quiet location and minutes to town. Love the large grassy field out front of the cabins for our small dog to play. There are 3 very friendly large dogs that come to visit from the house next door. The largest dog is one gentle giant! Two different cabins I’ve stayed in have a king bed and fold out futon. The king bed doesn’t slit to 2 twins. The cabins are fresh and clean.

Relaxing in the trees

Reviewed By Myrdiner

We loved the whole idea of the treehouse, another story for our trip. Clean, well appointed and the most delicious freshly made blueberry crepes for breakfast. One bed is accessible by ladder flat to the wall, a little angle would be safer and more convenient for mid night trip to the bathroom. Being there in the midnight sun, the room was far too bright, curtains did not cover the windows completely. Also, need one more window to open for a cross breeze. Way too hot without a fan which was way to noisy. We loved the place until bed time, then had a rough time sleeping

Alaska Log Cabins on the Pond B&B

Ultimate log cabin experience

Reviewed By sheilagM9470ZU

This log cabin an awesome experience! The cabins were very cozy and rustic. The TV had a large selection of channels. Heating system was high tech and kept the room at a comfortable temperature. With the pond nearby the view was beautiful! The bathrooms were very clean and warm. We would definitely come back again.
