Wonderful Stay in Carmel

Reviewed By tomcC7641SL

We stayed three nights in a large, very quiet, two room Premium Suite which couldn't have been nicer. The staff was friendly, helpful staff was great. The Hors d'oeuvres and wine in the evenings was nice, and even the breakfast they deliver to your room was great. We've stayed in many hotels in Carmel, but this was by far the nicest hotel we've stayed in.

Great place to stay

Reviewed By Glenn G

This Inn was close to Old Fisherman's Warf. it is a very historical/old/vintage place. Beautifully furnished with gorgeous antiques. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was very good, literally served on a silver platter with a gorgeous view of the Bay while you eat. We stayed in the 'Monterey" room. it was lovely. The ONLY inconvenience was that the shower is in a corner of the room.....in a small closet type enclosure. I am 5'7" and weigh 180 pounds and I barely fit in the shower - not much room to turn around. HOWEVER, I am not mentioning that as a negative - just know that it is a tiny shower. We would ABSOLUTELY stay here again. It is just a great place to stay, there is absolutely NO negative about this place. I would gladly stay in the same room again. Parking is a little tight but we managed to always find a space to the side of the Inn. If you have to park on the street level there are some stairs to negotiate. Ask for a room on the first floor and try to park on the street level of the side entrance.....and ENJOY!

My new "go to" place to stay in Carmel!

This was my first time staying at the Horizon Inn and it was wonderful! I stayed in a king room with jacuzzi and ocean view. The room was spacious and quiet. The Inn is walking distance to everything but off the beat and path so nice and quiet. There is a common area with fire pit and hot tub and a place to get ice and water (to fill up your reusable water bottle!) The front desk attendants were very friendly and helpful. There is a daily continental breakfast delivered daily in a picnic basket that had a variety of food selections. There is parking both on site and on nearby streets (we never had a problem finding a spot, even on the holiday weekend). I definitely plan to return in the future.

Overpriced

On arrival after a long drive we weren’t asked how our journey was unlike other places we have visited on this vacation. Our last b&b stop was excellent and unfortunately this one was not as welcoming, our room was small we had no where to store our luggage and the wardrobe wasn’t big enough to use. In the morning when it came to getting a shower the last occupants soap and a clump of hair was on the soap dish in the shower. Then we went for breakfast to find most tables weren’t cleared away from the previous person and had to ask a member of staff to clear a table for us. Most of the staff we encountered didn’t seem very happy to be working there and there was no interaction at all. Several times when we went to get a coffee it was stone cold. On the plus side the cheese and wine in the afternoon was very nice. It states that hand sanitizer is available for all to use but we never saw any.

This place was most exceptional in every way, from their courteous et friendly staff, to their spacious et plush comfy rooms to their delicious breakfast. Their added attention to our dog, Henry was sincere et comforting. They went above et beyond in helping us secure parking for our 24’ Sprinter. We look forward to our next stay with them, so I’ll be booking more in advance than previous to make sure.

Carmel Garden Inn

Our five patio suites have totally new bathrooms from basement to attic. All the Torres St rooms are freshly painted. We are happy to include a homemade hot breakfast with your stay. We serve chocolate chip cookies right from the oven to our complimentary wine party every afternoon. The wood for all ten fireplaces is seasoned pine and lights quickly, cracking with natural warmth to offset the summer foggy evenings in Carmel.

This was our first time in Carmel. After driving 12 hours from Portland, OR, Connor greeted us with complimentary wine and cheese. The garden courtyards were amazing and our suite, while not very large was comfortable and had everything we needed. Plus the breakfast was delicious. This is located within walking distance to downtown and the beach. Connor and Gaby were so nice and welcoming. The town also seems laid back and up scale at the same time. The beach was beautiful and the sand powdery. We are seriously planning our next stay. The only thing we will change is to stay longer. :)
