We did a two week vacation on the East Coast and this was, by far,, our favorite respite! The grounds serenade you with beauty and peace! Every inch of our room was spotless! Simple elegance surrounds you! Kudos to every staff member! Every request was immediately handled with such courtesy! I am not a breakfast person but, I quickly became one when the food served is of such a wide variety and outstanding quality! I hope to make the 10 visit walkway! Thank you for a holiday for the books!❤️

Highlight of our Maine Coast road trip

Reviewed By PDXSteph

My mom and I stayed here for 2 nights in May, and this stay was our favorite in a 10 road trip up the coast of Maine. We stayed on the top floor, which was a challenge for my 83 year old mom, but she was mentally prepared for the stairs and wanted to stay at the top for the better views (good views are on all floors, though). We ended up getting a couple of dinners to go so we could enjoy the deck. The breakfasts are AMAZING! I am still dreaming of them. Both of us are allergic to gluten, and it was no problem to accommodate us. Alex and staff are very attentive, even helped with the luggage when we got in. I left a few things behind, and Alex and Maria kindly shipped them back to me - in the midst of the busy tourist season. I highly recommend a stay in Boothbay Harbor (great spot to base day trips, and really nice people everywhere!) and I highly recommend staying at Harborage Inn.

Wonderful, as always

We've stayed here often enough now so that they know our preferences without being told, and just put them into place without being asked. They know we sometimes need an early check-in and always need a late check-out; that we will want wine glasses in the room when we stay in May but won't need them if we visit other months of the year; that we will need to leave our car in the lot for about 3-4 hours after we check out and store some valuables behind the desk; and all of this will have been pre-arranged before we check in. I'd never stay anywhere else in Portland. We've spent our wedding anniversary there every year (except 2020, of course) and will continue to do so in future!

The inn was just fantastic. Check in was a breeze, the rooms were quiet and cozy. And the innkeeper is amazing. She had great suggestions for things to do around Portland and Maine in general, was always very nice whenever we had seen her, and just a great person to chat with. The only drawback to the location is parking. There are only 4 spots available "on premise" so if there are more than 4 rooms booked, there's potential that you may need to park on the street. Even when that did happen to us, though, it was basically right in front of the inn and there was not a time where no parking available. Definitely would not deter us from going back.

Worth the splurge

Reviewed By Sheila E

We stayed here on the final two nights of our first trip to Maine. We chose a “bungalow” room, with a small patio overlooking the Atlantic. The room was beautifully decorated, spacious, with a modern bath…..and a bottle of our favorite champagne. The breakfast items delivered to the room each morning were just right to start the day, along with coffee made in the room. The front lawn is spacious and well landscaped with plenty of Adirondack chairs. The front porch has seating with views of the Atlantic. On the second day we made our way back to one of the annexes that had the pool, plenty of lovely seating areas inside, around the pool, and in a screened porch. My husband was able to play some pool on a beautiful antique table. On our final night, we ate at their restaurant and it was also worth the splurge. Food and service were excellent and each table has at least a partial ocean view. Each night after dinner, we would sit on our patio, bundle up in blankets provided, and finish our bottle of wine while watching the moon, stars and ocean.

Lovely, quant inn with ocean cove views

Five Gables Inn in East Boothbay was a delightful surprise. Our hosts, Steve and Susan, were so welcoming we thought they were old friends. Breakfast was always delicious with some unique added extras. The rooms were each different and very nicely decorated in nautical Coastal Maine style. They were very comfortable, and most have views of the cove, across the street. The Inn is located on a long dead-end street which allowed for nice, leisurely walks with more views of the cove and the many lovely homes in East Boothbay. We highly recommend the Five Gables.

I felt pampered

This spring my husband and I decided to do something new for us--explore the bold coast after spending a few days in Acadia. After fighting the crowds in summer, we decided to visit off season and what a good idea it was. We nearly had the place to ourselves and were able to take advantage of off season rates. The Inn was wonderful. The rooms were a good size, the bed was comfy, the room was clean as was the bathroom which had plenty of fluffy towels. The best part of all was the view. Our room was in the repurposed sardine factory and had its own balcony overlooking the harbor. A table and two chairs were provided on the balcony as well as a table and two chairs indoors by the glass sliding doors so you could stay inside and see the view or go outdoors in good weather. If you needed even more space, there was a common area with sofas and a full kitchen if you wanted to cook your own meals. We weren't even tempted to cook as there was a good restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner adjoining the motel. There was plenty of parking. The only thing there wasn't was a TV but we never missed it. We prefered the view and listening to the ocean. There was internet access also. A great place to stay!
