The 10 best Bed and Breakfast Inns in Key West, United States

April 20, 2023 Viva Honore

Does time ever pass in the Florida Keys? Everyone and everything in Key West seems to go at its own pace, right down to the ice melting slooooowly in your margarita glass. Of course, it’s not all limes and leisure – Key West is known as the “Winter White House” because of its appeal to visiting U.S. presidents, and the island has been home to literary greats like Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams. The diving here is phenomenal, as is the kid-friendly Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center.

Hotel that feels like a town house

Slam-bam on the busiest and lively street in Key West a couple of characteristic house joined together to form a small hotel, with very nice garden in the back with pool and parking space. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere created by people who obviously love their job. The relaxed atmosphere is especially noticeable during breakfast in the garden: no feeling of a ‘hotel-breakfast’ whatsoever. Room very clean and excellent bed.

Omigod. What a waste of money!

A friend, who had been here many times, booked this place. Since she liked it, I did not look on line. Big mistake! Although there were going to be three of us in this room, $781 was absolutely excessive. At best, the room was worth $150 (split 3 ways) This is a hostel -- not a hotel. We arrived after midnight and the night man at the front desk was extremely rude. He was confrontational and demanding versus trying to accommodate tired travelers. The room was a barrack -- no joke. There were two metal bunk beds and the top beds had not even been made up. There were several lockers in which we were supposed to protect our belongings and towels. Luckily, we were only there for one night. In the morning I escaped early for coffee by the pool. There were leaves in the pool and beer cans around the edge. There was no WIFI -- at least it did not work. When we tried to get mimosas (prepared at the front desk), there was no one there. Presumably because the front desk person was also cleaning the rooms (as the room cleaner heard us complaining by the pool and said he'd make them). I have no problem paying $780 for a room but this was insane. I assume others got better rates because most of the others around the pool were in their 20s (versus 50s like us).

This property was lovely, with clean amenities, and in close proximity to everything. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub after a day at the beach. We were able to walk everywhere. The staff was very accommodating. The rooms were spacious and the breakfast included a waffle maker, bagels toast, croissants, fruit, yogurt cereal, and toast. Delicious!

Terrible customer care - Thives

This place is ridiculously inconsiderate and the so called manager Micheal Nicolas is a complete JERK and a THIEF, to say the least! He has no business etiquette or regard for people’s safety! He wouldn’t refund our money nor reschedule our reservation although our ferry down to Key West was canceled due to the inclement weather brought upon by storm “Alex”. To make matters worse, someone in our group tested positive for COVID. He expected us to ignore weather related travel advisories, make our way down to his hotel against all odds and expose not only his staff but the rest of his guests to COVID. How would you like to stay in such a place?!???? Also days prior to our trip, as I watched to storm unfold I kept in touch with Iluka, a front desk agent at the property and Booking.com to explore our options should the weather worsen and they both stated to rest assure we would either get a refund or be allowed to reschedule for a later date. All Lies!

Our first time in Key West

We just spent four days at The Inn on Fleming and loved it! You have to remember the building is over 120 years old but has been as nicely updated as possible, while still maintaining the charm of a fine older home. The water pressure is a little challenging but if you want great water pressure, stay at a newer facility, however, you will not get the same charm as a lovely older Inn. We did not rent a car because it is so close to everything. We did a lot of walking while we were there and enjoyed taking the time to really SEE the lovely old homes in the area as we walked around. And David, the general manager, was an amazing host. He was so kind, friendly and helpful. There is a wonderful patio out back with a very small but adequate pool. And it was so relaxing to sit on the front porch and watch everyone pass by. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable four days in Key West!!

More than a B&B!

Reviewed By Karimenasser

Bella and Khe were great hosts! We’ll before arriving Bella was already reaching out and making sure I had what I needed. Internet and AC were great. Nuns rooms was perfect size. I was nervous why there weren’t many photos of the room. All the other areas were nice too. Had access to fridge, microwave and cold/hot water cooler the whole time. Sharing the bathroom was never an issue. I worked on my computer from the BB a whole week and was able to explore in the afternoons once the sun wasn’t so strong. The place is walking distance from A LOT! Travelled solo and felt very safe around the neighborhood. Parking was hard, so once I found a spot I did not move the car for days.
