Reviewed By dadimakdetailIt's just a sneeze away Vigan and Bantay. There's a lot of sinanglaoans around! There's enough parking but this is during the covid pandemic. I assume parking wouldn't be enough if the hotel is full. The room as good for its price. The only thing that I didn't like is the water pressure in the bathroom. We're the only guest during our stay but the water is so weak that we asked for a dipper and a pail so we can just let the water flow until we have enough to use.

Reviewed By messagekalebI'm a Canadian staying in the Philippines with my partner and his parents. They're from here originally, so we've mostly been staying with their family at their homes. We went for a trip to Vigan that required us to stay overnight, we opted to stay at HillFrans because it was the least expensive option when we searched. We ended up booking both of the diamond rooms, which as a result meant that we had the entire 4th floor to ourselves- the main door to the common area is lockable. The rooms were very nice: included wifi, television, air conditioning, and hot water. The building seems to be new, there were exposed pipes and some loose wires in the common area, but for the price we paid this was acceptable. A note to the squeamish: we encountered lizards, cockroaches, and bats while staying here- this sounds like it would be bad, but we've seen lizards and cockroaches at the family homes we've stayed at as well, so I consider this to be expected while staying anywhere in the Philippines.

Room is clean, staff was helpful, pool is nice, my kids love the playground where there’s a swing and a big chess board on the floor, beach was just walkable by 10 minutes or drive by 3 minutes, beach was just near behind the hotel, 11 minutes drive from center (vigan) to the hotel, food was excellent, they serve well and the staffs are approachable. What I don’t like in our room was just the wifi signal, it was too WEAK! we didn’t even use it because it can’t connect to our phone due to signal, we just use our own data.

All the staff are very friendly and hospitable. May free coffee pa sila. Parang nasa bahay lang kami during our stay. I will recommend this hotel to all of my friends. I will surely do.

Beautiful Hotel in the middle of town
Reviewed By greg_wandersAn old building full of character in the heart of Vigan. My wife and I stayed here for 1 night. Its less than a minute walk to the main attractions of Calle Crisologo and the Vigan Cathedral. Even the Vigan Market and bus station is a 15 minute walk away. The rooms are clean and with aircon and hot water. The interior of the hotel is charming as well and good for photographs. Breakfast was fixed, but delicious. Vigan Loganissa , Rice and fish. Coffee and water with a kettle was provided in the room. The staff were very courteous and helpful to deal with. The only downside I would have to say is that we asked for a late checkout for 3 pm instead of 12 pm as our bus was late at night, and were charged 30% the room fare which was a bit steep for the time spent. They did however let us leave our bags at reception until we picked it up later that evening. Overall a good hotel and would recommend staying here in Vigan.

It is just a stone's throw from the iconic Bantay Church Bell Tower. MelSol Hotel is just along the national highway so finding it will never be a problem; on the left side when you are on your way to Vigan. It is just 1.2 kilometers (i.e. 7-minute drive) to Calle Crisologo. Public transportation is accessible due to its strategic location. MelSol Hotel offers pet-friendly accommodations in Vigan. Certain accommodations include a sitting area where you can relax. A terrace or balcony are featured in certain rooms. Every room is fitted with a private bathroom. A flat-screen TV is featured. Free WiFi is available in the public areas throughout the property. There are also outdoor swimming pools for both adults and kids.
Traumatic...never again
Reviewed By Anne AI'm not particularly choosy about hotels (it was fine with me that although they advertised having flat screen TVs, ours had an old box type one), but there are some basic non-negotiables for me. 1) CLEANLINESS - The floors of the room and CR were dirty, and not once during our 3-day stay did they clean our room. The towels were old-looking. 2) FOOD - Only one word could describe it: Tinipid kami. Granted that our organizers had been able to get discount rates, but hey, you could serve good, inexpensive food, without resorting to serving 2-4 pieces of pork adobo (mostly fat) as the only viand. Not to mention that some of them were spoiled. As were the recycled rice for breakfast. Then they ran out of fish, and eventually eggs during one breakfast. They also ran out of food during one meal. And to think that many delegates opted to eat out during the whole time because they saw the food was not good. As for the advertised "restaurant." No such thing. We were practically starving one night (because we were not full from dinner), and asked if we could order from their resto. Since they didn't have any ala carte to order, we asked if we could use their phone to order from a fast-food. The front desk staffer said fast-foods there had no delivery. (But the next day, another delegate said their staff were able to order for them. Ano ba talaga?!) 3) COURTESY - Some of the staff were suplada/masungit, not helpful at all. Although there were a few guys that were friendly. 4) SAFETY - The glass railings (which are not securely fastened) on the stairs and mezzanine are accidents waiting to happen. As for the floors and ramps, some of them were too slippery that a couple of delegates did slip and slide.

Reviewed By Milton CWhat can I say? Simply a great place to stay! The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is quite good and has a nice variation for the next day. The hotel mgr and the staff are all very friendly and accomodating. The hotel provides free shuttle but actually its all within walking distance to Calle Crisologo, Plazas, Church, Museums, restaurants and different types of eateries. The shuttles are electric so its environmentally friendly and of classic design The hotel certainly kept the heritage look so it certainly is a great way to experience the Spanish feel once you checked-in. Strongly recommend this hotel to anyone visitng Vigan.
