Reviewed By Livia GWe arrived late at night and they gave us a room with 2 beds put together for one person and a twin room for me and my husband so we've had to exchange it and carry the sheets to the hallway in the middle of the night. The furniture is old, ugly and dusty. It wasn't even reconditioned. The sheets and towels also old. We asked if we could get an early breakfast (30 min earlier than the usual hour) and they never came back with the answer... We confirmed our check out between 10 am and 11am and at 10:30 they knocked at the door and ask us either to live or pay to extend the stay. It is the first time that something like this happens. The mattress was good and the breakfast was ok.

Reviewed By GeelonkaVery clean hotel, with nice decor, kind staff and basic breakfast. We loved the silence in the hotel and outside. Also Netflix and Amazon Prime is available if you need it. The bathrooms are shared between 2 or 3 rooms but there was no issue with it at all.

Reviewed By alkeniAlthough the owner is new, Gudni is a transplant from England and is quite knowledgeable about Iceland as he has had many other jobs working in Iceland. He just purchased the property and was very personable and friendly. It is NOT in town, but in a safe, quiet area close to town. The bathroom did seem a little outdated. All rooms are on the ground floor. He upgraded me from a single bed to a double bed without any additional charges. He also gave me a discount for paying in cash. I hope he is successful in this business. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Wifi was a little spotty in your own room, so the best place is in the shared living area.

In the guesthouse we have 3 double rooms and 3 twin rooms, all with private bathrooms. Close to the guesthouse we have 2 cottages. In each cottage there is beds for 2 people, sleeping loft with mattresses on the floor and bed linen, bathroom and a small cooking facilities.

Reviewed By David TNo cold water, which means no water for the toilet... so after using it I tried to flush it down with the shower head using hot water, it broke, boiling water everywhere... it was the worst experience I ever had in a hotel (guesthouse) or whatever you can call this place.

Wonderful Location in the Countryside
Reviewed By Aleena LLindartun is an awesome guesthouse! It is clean and tidy and the room was very spacious. The common areas and kitchen are super cute and modern, and there was plenty of space in those too. They even had a shelf of DVDs that you can pick from to bring back to your room and watch. I loved that it was very quiet and situated a bit out of the way in the lovely countryside with great views. Not too far of a drive to the town where there are a few restaurants if you want to pick up some dinner.

Reviewed By suluarcherHotel Skalakot is delightful a small hotel it seriously punches above its weight . The staff are charming and cannot do enough for you and the food in the restaurant is superb. The best food eaten so far on our holiday . If you like horse riding this is also an equestrian farm and riding is offered .

From what appears to be an unknown facility in the middle of no where on first sight appears to be a large shipping container amazes you when you walk in. Spotlessly clean cosy rooms, small little dining area with delicious home cooked meals and the most serene blissful peaceful surroundings. Our first night in iceland after 24 hours travel gave us what we needed - a warm welcome, comforting food and the most amazing deep sleep in a dreamy location. Thank you Iris, you’re a super hard working and hospitable host !
