Price and performance didn’t match

We stayed in a double bedroom with terrace for one week. Our review is based on what we payed for this room for one night which was around 130 Euros. We noticed that they offer their rooms for much cheaper, too, so if the price per night had been between 50 to 80 Euros our rating would have been more positive! First- the positive aspects: + Location was good, short walk to the beach and the nice seafront, also very close to the “party street” but we never noticed any noise from there. + The staff was very nice and helpful. + Breakfast included coffee from a Dolce Gusto machine. + We had a room in the highest floor and though a nice and big rooftop terrace. The size of the terrace made our room size smaller, though- next time we’d prefer a bigger room with “only” a balcony. But... - The room was not what we expected based on previous ratings and the pictures. It does look very “instragrammable” but is very small (only one very small closet for two people) and very badly soundproofed (you hear your partner on the toilet, the neighbors and especially the incredible loud door banging when someone comes and goes). Additionally, we smelled the drain every time we walked into our room. - The breakfast was a bit disappointing... toast, some cold cuts, yoghurt and cereals. A bit of a variety would have been great.

Lovely hotel

Lovely hotel in pedestrianised centre of town with large, welcoming foyer. Excellent room and very comfortable room. BUT we had a van that would not go in the small underground car park. I had to park nearly a kilometre away. However the hotel itself was very good value for money. Breakfast was very good.

Excellent Value

For anyone looking for a budget hotel/hostel this is very good. It is basic but very clean and in a great central location. A little bit of noise in evening as I was overlooking the plaça which has many restaurants. I had a single room which for me was adequate in size. The shower is very small but again it was fine for me. There's no TV, no kettle, no wardrobe and in my room only three hangers but what can one expect for the price, I paid about £28 a night. Some other reviews complain about the shower and the basic facilities but I knew more or less exactly what I was paying for and it actually exceeded my expectations. I personally would recommend.

Lovely surprise

Cambrils is a lovely town but most of the seafront restaurants are either very expensive or serve substandard food. Fonda Montersat isn't conveniently located for most tourists but is absolutely worth the 20 minute walk away from the seafront. Beautiful Spanish food and with 3 courses plus wine and water for 11 Euro, an absolute bargain. Will be back!

Firstly, to start with the pluses and there are many of them! This location, high quality rooms and absolute tranquility deserve the highest praise and we completely enjoyed our time here. The decor, room size, facilities and the terrace (on our room “Monastrell”) were top quality and as good or better than anywhere we have stayed. Our only criticism was that we were not prepared for the very basic food on offer for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Nor were we expecting such slow service at times. Our photos show the very limited menu usually available, on one evening the hotel prepared a special menu with the main course being Churrasco. Sounded delicious but was a complete disaster and frankly inedible, in fact we couldn’t eat it! One morning breakfast took 45 minutes to arrive, our order consisted of one round of toast each, two juices, two coffees and a plate of fruit. Most important, especially if staying for multiple days (we stayed for 4) take plenty of cash as the drinks and food bills must be settled in cash. However, and to end on a positive the two employees seemed to have to do everything apart from cleaning the rooms. They could not have been more helpful but they appeared to be overwhelmed by the catering side particularly. Would better quality catering have improved our enjoyment, yes! Would we recommend the hotel, definitely yes. Finally, there are ample facilities available at the hotel for a typical breakfast buffet to be served which could have reduced waiting time to virtually zero, why this is not re-introduced, escapes me! We would strongly suggest taking your own breakfast provisions, cereals, juices etc. There are good facilities to support this, also take Nespresso capsules as there are two machines to dispense much better quality coffee than served by the hotel.

Maria and Ramon welcomed us and treated us as house guests, which is how we felt - privileged to be in their home. Our room was superb, clean comfy and with a little balcony to take in the idyllic scenery here. We ate dinner prepared by Maria on one evening - superb home cooking, with local wine to match. We were also advised on places to go (don’t miss Prades!) and where to eat other meals. Every recommendation was perfect. Breakfast was simple, fruits superb, just right. Definitely one of our most memorable stays, and as we visited our 40 & 41 st Spanish cities during this trip, we have been to a lot of places to stay in Spain, and this ranks in the top 5 most memorable. Although I do speak Spanish, there was enough English for complete understanding as well.... !

Our group of 10 stayed here for 2 nights. Excellent hospitality and Catalan home cooking by Cory and her team. They took care of all our needs - there were 7 cyclists in the group and there was a convenient space to build and store bicycles. Beautiful rooms and communal areas to hang out and do daily debriefs.
