The 10 best Bed and Breakfast Inns in Costa Blanca, Spain

April 26, 2023 Venice Greaves

Costa Blanca is the name given to Alicante's coastline in Spain, which stretches over 200 kilometers. It is an incredibly popular holiday destination for tourists, because of the marvelous weather and beaches. Costa Blanca is family friendly, thanks to the huge range of activities available there from beaches and golf to museums and parks. There are the beaches, such as Los Náufragos in Torrevieja with its volleyball nets, golden sands and Blue Flag status, or smaller beaches like Serragrosa with its crystal waters, ideal for swimmers. But there are also golf courses (particularly the Villaitana club de golf near Benidorm) and watersports facilities and cultural sites like museums and galleries, such as the La Asegurada Municipal Museum in Alicante which has extensive collections of Spanish art. You will need a couple of weeks on the Costa Blanca just to scratch the surface of its entertainment potential.

Incompetent Management, Uncomfortable Beds, Sewer Smell

Reviewed By Phillip S

I do not recommend this place. Only positives are the breakfast and rooftop bar. We did not feel safe at Bed and Breakfast La Milagrosa, the condition of the room was very poor, and we were disrespected by multiple members of the staff including Alejo and Juan Carlos. We stayed for 3 nights encountered the following issues: 1) We got the 'Superior' room. The heating was not working on the first night and we informed the reception. They offered a very small heater as a temporary solution (which was only suitable for a very small room like a bathroom) while they got someone else to come look at it. No one ever came and the heating never worked. 2) The room had a very strong sewage smell that would not go away. We told the staff multiple times and again, only offered a small air odour removal device (which did not work) as temporary solution. We slept with the odour for 2 nights and after many arguments were finally offered a different room for the final night of our stay. 3) One night there were two drunk men yelling right next to my window. I came out to see what was going on and they were quite aggressive. I let staff know about this and they just said that noise was expected and that the weekend was just going to be worse. While I understand that being in a central location comes with some noise, I would have expected the staff to take this issue more seriously because it felt like a threat to my personal safety. I have attached some photos to give you an idea of how close they were. 4) After deciding it was all too much, we talked to the staff about getting a refund. Everyone at reception said it was possible, and that they would have to speak to the Manager about it and then call us back. After over a week without an outcome, we decided to call the hotel. No one is picking up the phone and instead we got a text saying it is not possible without any explanation. The staff has been ignoring our calls since then. We tried to resolve all the issues above with the staff so we could move on and enjoy the holiday, but the responses have always been rude and evasive.

A hidden gem

We stayed with you 18th to 21st April, and we couldn’t have been happier. A fabulous boutique hotel with large spacious rooms (almost like mini villas), and wonderful, friendly staff. Dining, based on breakfasts and the one room service meal we had, was great. My wife had a treatment in the spa which she loved. Unfortunately it was too cold to use the pool although it looks beautiful. We will be back and next time we’ll use the pool and dining room for dinner! In the meantime, we highly recommend this little known, off-the-beaten-track boutique hotel.

Excellent staff, small rooms and even smaller shower stall Impossible to have a shower, got moved to a larger room which was the size you would normally expect in a budget hotel. Excellent location, but don’t expect any views as the streets are are narrow, also beware of local restaurant staff depositing bottles and rubbish late at night

This is a lovely hotel in which to stay. The staff are lovely, the room I had (separate building by the pool) was fabulous, breakfast is good and there's a nice pool if the sea is not your thing. The only downside for me was not having wifi in the room but it wouldn't be a deal breaker; I would stay here again - and probably will.

Our quiet and comfortable country retreat is located 300 m above sea level, approximately 9 miles inland from the attractive town of Altea. From all guest rooms you can see the blue horizon of the Mediterranean in the distance and although you can easily imagine the busy life of beachside tourists in high rise hotels down there, here you are able to relax in a peaceful natural setting. The retreat offers several nice spots for you to enjoy the tranquillity of our environment and the areas reliably good weather (about 320 days of sunshine a year). Our favourites include the large 60m swimming pool, outdoor jacuzzi and the patio underneath a shade tree or on the lawn with its palm trees.

Beautiful Hotel

About an hours drive from Alicante airport. The last 2 km up a single lane track but that just added to the fun. We had a superb room (number 4 I think) which had been beautifully refurbished during Covid lockdown and it had beed carried out to a very high standard. The food was even better than the room, to a really high standard each of the 4 nights we stayed. Excellent local produce well cooked without being overly complicated or too rich. Horston and Sonja were excellent hosts and gave the place a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately the weather was against us so we didn't get to spend any time in the lovely pool area but it did mean we got to see a bit more of the local countryside and villages.
