They provided for us all week with traditional Bulgarian cuisine for breakfast and dinner (just wait until you try the bread), and litres of homemade wine (delectable). The rooms were comfortable, homely, and clean to an excellent standard. And they looked after us (a large group) as if we were their family. They also arranged airport transfers at a very low cost, and a discount for ski hire right next to the gondola. We can’t wait to stay again next year!!!

Reviewed By Getaway48290224853Very nice place. The hotel has an excellent view. The rooms are large and clean. The food in the restaurant was very delicious and the staff was friendly. I recommend the hotel. At the end of the day, you can relax in the SPA. Entertainment also for kids.

Our hotel is centrally located, close to all major cultural and historical attractions of Melnik and all the shops in town: MELNIK - one of the most ancient villages in Bulgaria: Amazing stone pyramids, unique landscape, fantastic night colours, secret Moon nights, rustling legends about love dramas and bloody battles, wild spring dawn, almod-trees and lilacs in blossom, thick and sweet wine, magnificent architecture and ruins from numerous remarkable monuments dated from the Middle Ages and the National Revival, rich centuries-long history. This is what antique handsome Melnik attracts its thousands tourists. Hotel "Bolyarka" can offer 58 beds, which are distributed in: 2 luxury apartments, 2 small apartments and 17 double rooms. All the rooms and apartments are furnished with refrigerators, cable TV, telephones their own service rooms and air conditioner. All the luxury apartments have a fireplace as well. For your best time at our hotel we offer you lobby bar, sauna from Finland, solarium, garden jacuzzi with sunbeds, conference room with 10 - 12 places, and a great wine cellar for tasting domestic wines. Mehana "Bolyarka" : There are 60 seats in the mehana and a garden with barbecue with 50 seats. You can try original Bulgarian and area meals and dishes in the mehana's kitchen - spicy beans cooked in a pot, the famous hominy (kachamak), the original Melnik banitsa, a variety of lamb or pork shish, kebabs on barbecue and many other specialitets which are the great surprise for the guests. Quaint, quaint, quaint and local, local, local!
Reviewed By CKFSince I could not find a separate area for the Hotel Bolyarka's restaurant, I am going to combine the hotel review and restaurant review in one entry here. Hotel Bolyarka is a perfectly quaint accommodation in the perfectly quaint smallest town in Bulgaria, Melnik. Our corner room was nicely furnished with dresser, TV, and balcony. It was very cold in there, however, even though the heat was on. We rectified this by leaving the heat on when we went out, using the second space heater they generously donated, and by using the extra blankets provided. We discovered by the second day that just leaving the regular heater on all day was sufficient. The bathroom is not heated, and has the shower positioned directly across from the toilet, with no curtain. We strategically placed various towels to absorb the water and try to keep the toilet dry. We really enjoyed the little balcony with a nice view of the town, and the light coming in from the windows or our corner room. The extra heavy blankets were also much appreciated. The owners are lovely and were willing to prepare anything we wanted for breakfast. We has eggs, toast, cheese, and ham. Dinner was a special delight--local, local local ingredients and recipes. We had owner-made rakia and wine, awesome! The shopska salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber), cabbage stuffed with pork, and chicken in a clay pot were both delicious. We were the only guests, and sitting by the fire was heavenly. We highly recommend the Hotel Bolyarka for your trip to Melnik!

Great quiet location on edge of town yet only 5 minutes walk from many good restaurants and 10 minutes walk to gondola. The basement spa area is great after a days skiing. Would thoroughly recommend.

Reviewed By Catalin RQuality/price very good. For a 3 stars it looks good, it is very clean, it has Big rooms, big beds, medium balcony. Breakfast was included(07:30-09:30). Breakfast was not haute quisine but it was fresh made(example- boiled egg, cheese, ham, butter, honey,olives, a big bottle of tea).Apart this there is also milk and 3 different types of cereals. If you are coming by car, you need to know that they don’t have a private parking, you park on the street where they have cameras. If you are going for ski you need to know that the road to the gondola station it will take you 20 min on foot or 5-6 min by car(there is a parking at the gondola 12 leva/day from 7:30a.m. - 7p.m). If you want good conditions for a cheap price this the perfect choice.

Views from the front rooms are nice, but from the back rooms you can only see a wall. Smell of cooking oil comes through the window for most of the day. Breakfast is available, and there is a shop at the ground floor.
