Everything taken care of!

Wow, what can I say. Booked this hotel after reading positive reviews from everyone else and I can say they are very accurate. I have broken this review down in sections:- Staff - Absolutely brilliant. From the moment you step into the hotel and your luggage is taken care of, to the warm reception and welcome drink, to the excellent housekeeping, the excellent service at the restaurant to the pool area and the activities. Nothing is a problem and the service is second to none. The staff should be congratulated on making it so easy for guests to just enjoy themselves. Room - We had a second floor room with a view over the street and could see the nearby mountain. It was a very clean and modern room with modern fittings. The bathroom was excellent with superb power rain fall shower and separate sinks. The room comes equipped with free safe, iron and ironing board. You have a minibar, though as we were All Inclusive, we did not end up using it. They have a great feature to reduce plastic waste by providing water stations close to the room where you fill a provided jug for your water needs. Beds were comfy. TV has BBC and a few English channels and option for Netflix that you can sign into. The only issue was at busy times, the Wi-Fi bandwidth simply can't cope and the picture is very pixelated. Other than that, all ok. Food - We went All inclusive. Firstly you need your phone to read the QR codes which bring up the drinks menu. We could go for anything without a *, which was plenty in my view and all drinks were perfectly made and of good value. Food was buffet style and there is literally something for everyone here. It is so varied so you will not be bored. Breakfast has the usual egg stations etc.. and lunch / dinner has fresh pasta/pizza section as well as daily paella made in front of you and delicious. There is also a fresh grill section, with 2 fish and 2 meat choices to choose from. Then on top of that, they have a roast section and loads of supporting vegetables and assorted dishes. To finish, you have a large selection of deserts and ice cream, with toppings. Tip, use the running chocolate fountain to cover your ice cream and it hardens nicely. Special mention to the team behind the counters making the dishes. Nothing was too difficult and they would go out of their way to make sure you get the dish you want. Really excellent. Pool Entertainment - Poolside entertainment was pool yoga on boards, keep fit as well as cycling, running machines and trampolines in the pool. It was great fun and you should try! As well they have soap making classes, learn to salsa, towel modelling etc.. Evening entertainment - We saw Elton John and Whitney Houston tributes, both of which were excellent fun and spot on. Also worth mentioning was a singer called Angel who sang a load of well-known favourites. All very enjoyable with the flow of cocktails coming. Package - We had All Inclusive, which is not Star Prestige but to be honest, we never once felt wanting more. It was sufficient and we had a really great time. Travel to/from Hotel - takes approx. 30 - 45 mins and we were the 1st stop from the airport coming by shared coach. Tip - Make sure you walk along the promenade day and night, as the experience is different. The beach is easily accessible via a dedicated hotel access. Do I recommend this hotel, absolutely! It is an Adults only hotel, so sorry no kids.

Excellent hospitality

Reviewed By wamorock

The hospitality in this hotel is top notch. Due to a delayed departure we missed our connection. After getting rerouted we arrived around 1:30am without our luggage. We had not eaten anything since early afternoon. We were starving. The check in took 1 minute. We were then offered a container of juice, some bananas and a bowl of nuts to hold us over until breakfast. We were extremely thankful. The room was modern with a comfortable king size bed. We also had an amazing ocean view which we took advantage of by sitting in the balcony in the evenings. Any requests made to the front desk were immediately taken care of. All staff were friendly and polite and willing to help any way possible. We spent our time by the small pool. Chairs were always available and there was always a nice breeze since it was facing the ocean. The lounge chairs were to close to one another at the large pool. Getting in and out of them sometimes became a task. We had a great couples massage at a reasonable price. There are many restaurants and bars all walking distance from the hotel. The beach is short 2-3 minute walk.Upon check out at 6:00am we were given some croissants since breakfast was not yet being served. We had a wonderful time here. I would definitely recommend Barcelo Teguise Beach.

great facilities - rooms not as good - damaged mains cable

Reviewed By dux_vimes

Hard one this. The issue is the rooms do not match the resort. TL;DR: rooms not great, first was not clean, mains cable for microwave dodgy. Resort facilities and staff are great. The bad Had a suite, floor was sticky in places, dust around, phone not working, some lights not working. So we have no physical hotel guide or menus due to covid but the place feels unlcean. OK. But the tipping point was plugging in the kettle and taking out the microwave one and seeing the outer insulation had gone. (see photo). Not bare wires but not up to standard. Hotel did move us but I felt they did not acknowldge the fact you cant have such electricity wiring in a hotel, let alone a 5 star hotel. I may be wrong but I doubt it was fixed in a hurry (or may still not have been). I didn't get an apology for this; it was an "oh" and let me check with my manager if there is a different room. After moving we then found out that our original room was missing things like furniture. No physical menus anywhere due to covid. App that controls most things is awful, slow and unreliable. But if you want to see your bill you have to go the front desk. The good Staff in general are great Facilities are good with daily activites for children Food is pretty good Spa is not cheap but excellent tip: if you drive there is off street parking and a big free public carpark next to the hotel. Hotel charges for car parking.

The hotel was amazing, service brilliant from start to finish. Had everything you could need in the hotel with a choice of 2 pools. Beach less than a 10 minute walk away along with shops and restaurants if not eating in the hotel. We hired a car and paid for the parking meaning we could go out during the day and not have to worry about taxis or buses. Would highly recommend breakfast, absolutely amazing selection and great service again. Staff were all really friendly and helpful, would absolutely look to book here again if we returned!

Lovely few days in the sun

Reviewed By joolzBrighton

Our room was massive and well presented. Good coffee machine, loads of wardrobe space, generous with the shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Breakfast was great, the staff were all efficient and friendly. Spa was fab with really friendly staff. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the poolside restaurant - we only visited once and the service was bad. The gentleman who was taking orders never wrote down which table the orders were for so food was bouncing all around the diners. It was pretty chaotic, but I guess they had a staff shortage and maybe this guy stepped in to help. We only got 2 of the 3 things we ordered, but we also were not charged at all, so that was nice (or maybe he forgot to write the room number down). All in all, we had a lovely time and would be happy to return.

Restaurant gone downhill

Reviewed By PCJC0802

Visited many times. Love the pools, proximity to beach, shops etc. Rooms clean and beds comfortable, however removing baths not ideal for kids and shower water leaks out over lip. Unfortunately a cockroach appeared when my grand daughter was showering! Change from tiled to laminate floor makes it much more noisy with people above. In fact overall it was much noisier in and outside into the early hours - maybe attracting a different type of customer than before or because the neighbouring Castillo is closed for renovation?! Changes to restaurant have ruined it - chairs uncomfortable, queues for food, lack of choice and poor or no labelling. Cold tinned veg? What’s happened to prawns and fresh pineapple etc??? As for the rude aggressive waiter - certainly not how it used to be! Entertainment no where near as good as before. I accept covid has affected some things and everyone is struggling for staff, however other decisions by management are letting this hotel down now and not everything can be blamed on a renovation programme. Sometimes change is not for the best and sadly this is definitely reflected in the restaurant.
