We were the first patrons in this restaurant, which is underneath the Matterhorn Golf Hotel. As we walked in, we could barely hear because several TV sets were playing a Celine Dion concert, full volume. The hostess (probably the owner's wife?) showed us to a table and turned down the volume, mercifully. She brought menus and we noted an extensive wine list. We are not big drinkers nor big eaters, so when she returned we asked for two glasses of white wine. She returned a few minutes later to say that wine was not available, we had to choose between one red and a pinot grigio - those were the only two available. We chose the pinot. She went away and returned with an unopened bottle. We explained that we wanted only one glass each, and she assured us that we could have that. We then ordered spinach-and-ricotta ravioli dinners which were listed for 22 Swiss francs each. This prompted the first visit from the chef/owner, (Marcello or Michaelo, I think?), who began by telling us that "the season" was over, and he just stayed open to help hungry travelers. He then stated that it was expensive just to open the restaurant, and people should expect to pay a MINIMUM of 30 Swiss francs each for the privilege of eating his food, as his was one of the "top 5 restaurants in Switzerland". People came from miles away to learn from him. This was not McDonalds! At this point, I was ready to leave, but we had already been billed for our room the day we made our reservation, and we were tired. Our waitress served our meals, about 8 ravioli inside a "tent" made of small tortillas - an attractive presentation. The food was good, no doubt about it.... but then Morelli returned to lecture some more, about when we were there, we were not in Switzerland, we were in HIS RESTAURANT! Fortunately, another party arrived to take his attention from us. We finished as quickly as we could and returned to our room, and left early next morning. We did not sample his breakfast at 12 Swiss francs, despite the sheet of paper in our room which listed each available breakfast item, with the value of each, and a page heading stating that the breakfast was a real bargain!

Came here for dinner, and we were so impressed by the service that we came back again! The girls who run the place were so kind and caring, and provided us with fantastic service - although it took a little long during busier times, we were happy to wait. Even when we had to push back a reservation because of sports fixtures, they were happy to accommodate, which shows that they really go above and beyond to provide a great service! The garlic bread and dough balls were great and the pizza was delicious! Would definitely recommend coming here for a guaranteed great dinner!Thanks for your kind review! The first night you guys were here we got slammed, everyone came in at the same time after all the sports. We never miss having a few meals at Grampi's when we stay in Zermatt. We ordered to go and also ate at the restaurant twice. Everyone working in this restaurant is from Italy and speak English and Italian perfectly. Even though it is generally busy, you never feel rushed and they are always glad to see you. the pizza, pasta, and salads are among our favorite in Switzerland. The pizza may be the best in Zermatt! We love talking to the cooks also! Open late so you can enjoy a full day hiking and still get some great Italian food late at night.Thank you so much for visiting us at Grampi's Restaurant in Zermatt

For a casual meal, you can't beat Gusto Matto. We had no reservation but were happily shown to a table by the staff. Pizza and glass of wine around 30 CHF per person (not bad for Zermatt). Pizza was really delicious and the chilli oil is fabulous!

Good menu with several choices. Pizza and Pasta. Traditional Swiss and Wallis food. Also Portuguese dishes to choose from. Staff very friendly. We had a traditional Wallis plate of cooked meats and cheese one night and a pizza on the second night. Both very good.

The meal we had here was good Italian/European food, as it was off season, the restaurant was almost empty. Service was great, the front of house went over everything with us, and talked to us about wine from the area. Overall a nice meal.

We were skiing on the mountain and came here to get out of the winds. What a fantastic choice! Wine and staff were amazing. Pizza delicious and made perfectly. Lasagna was delicious. Staff was so friendly and patient with smiles all around. Not that I want it to get any busier! But we are coming back up with out skis just to eat!!!

The food here was quite good but it felt much more commercial than many of the other restaurants we ate at. Location is central and staff were pretty good but it was a bit loud and just seemed quite hectic overall. May be best for larger groups but as I said, the food was really good. We did not eat pizza although it appears they are known for that.

If you are looking for a fantastic fine dining experience in Zermatt, this is the place. Except for one very small complaint below, we were so impressed with everything. Everyone who works here is so attentive to detail. The menu is excellent, easy to combine and all of the dishes our group of five tried were so well presented and tasty. They also cater to special dietary needs on request. We were in foodie heaven! Some of us at the table decided to order an additional main course. This normally creates a problem for the kitchen to time the arrival of our desserts, and anyone who has done this before knows that if the added order it takes too long, the point of ordering a second dish is lost. But the waitress knew all about this and they rush ordered our extra dishes. They have an excellent selection of wines to match everything provided they don't give you the wrong wine menu. That was our only complaint. The service is extremely friendly and enthusiastic. Diners are greeted with flutes of Prosecco, a generous gesture and a festive way to start a meal. Thereâs also bruschetta topped with good tomatoes and olive oil. We shared a very good mushroom salad to start. My main course was tagliarini with black truffles. It was so good that when all the pasta was gone, I mopped up the rest of the sauce with bread. The check was delivered to us in the cutest way, so I had to take a photo of it.
