Perfect stay for the perfect hike to Preikestolen

Reviewed By travelwithanda

I was a bit sceptic to book a rom in Lilland Brewery because of the rewiews here, but in the end, there were not many decent choices to stay near Preikestolen parking. In reality, the hotel was a pleasant surprise, it was clean, comfortable, breakfast was refreshing, location is perfect as a base camp... I really don't know what else one could wish for from a 3-star hotel, located 20 minutes' drive from Preikestolen. We had perfect weather and you can find the detailed description of the hotel, as well as the hike to Preikestolen in my blog (link in bio). For us, it was a great choice!

Mixed feelings…not as advertised

Reviewed By Gudlaug O

I have mixed feelings about this so called hotel. Let’s start with the positives: The location is lovely, in the heart of Jørpeland. Great sea view. Dog friendly. Better quality hairdryer. Breakfast included. Now the negatives: The front door was locked and we called the number on the door. Why we were not informed of this procedure when booking I am not sure. We had googled “restaurants in Jørpeland” and our hotel popped up so we thought “perfect!” we eat there. To our surprise there was no restaurant (breakfast only). No one at the front desk, just an oversized bell that you could possibly hear from Preikestolen if you rang it - and a number. Wifi password did not work. The room smells funky - like a baked potato. Also we are paying more for our room than what was advertised on the website.

Preikestolen BaseCamp

The cabin lies in the hills of Ryfylke just near the Refsvatn lake, a beautiful, child-friendly area. There are several marked trails in the area, for example, the path to the Pulpit Rock. The new Preikestolen Mountain Lodge was opened in May 2009. The old Preikestol cabin was built in 1949 just beside the old Vatne mountain farm. You can also go fishing or swimming in the lake Revsvatnet. There is a lot of activities in the area. We have rental of Canoe, kayak and SUP.

!Beware of deception

One shower , one toilet per floor ( 9 rooms per floor ) . The room is in another hut and not in the main building as you might think . A room so small that you can hardly move in it . There is no wifi in the rooms !!! The wooden floor in the corridor creaks when people cross and interferes with sleep . The entrance to the room is with the help of a code . When you enter the code , the beep sounds in the rooms And for all this you also pay 150 euros , which is very far from getting value for money . In short - this exploitation of the owner , is the unflattering side of Norway !!!!

Spacious, clean and well-equipped cabins

Reviewed By Annukri

We were very pleasantly surprised by the standards of our 2-bedroom cabin! Given that the booking website did not provide photos from inside the cabins (and our previous experience with such cabins elsewhere has been rather dreadful), we were expecting the worst. However, our cabin was spacious and bright with running water and a sufficiently equipped kitchen. It was obvious the cabin had been cleaned, and fresh linen was already on the bed and included in the price. It was also great to have an in-house shower and toilet, although the shower could do with a small repair of the water outflow. The effort from the owner to provide a cozy cabin is greatly appreciated. Would definitely stay here again.

A surprisingly nice place

Reviewed By peremile2018

My expectations for a hostel are limited. Must have something to do with experiences in my youth. This place is nothing like hostels in my youth! Very nice family room (with its own bathroom), a lake for swimming, breakfast included, free parking, playground and other nice stuff. Nicely kept by a young, international and professionally acting crew. The surrounding area put my eyes and mind at ease in between visits to Stavanger and Preikestolen. This hostel gets my warmest recommendations.

Lilland Hostel Tau

Small room and below expectations

Reviewed By kena105

To check in and to get the key card for the hostel, we had to go to the Lilland Hotel, located in a different place that was difficult to find. This was quite inconvenient and they should have informed us about this before arriving. The room was very clean but too small for 3 persons - and no kitchen equipment (pots, pans, cups etc). The wifi was very fast though. Strange that you have to use the key card to lock the door - the door is not locked if you just close it!
