A small room, covered in wood, makes you feel you're in a special place. Food cooked with love to perfection, creating an amazing atmosphere of well being. I couldn't suggest Gemsli enough and we'll definitely come back soon.

Lovely inn with lovely people

We stayed at this hotel for just one night this week, with two kids (ages 4 and 9). The family room was very clean, with a separate room with bunk beds for children. The rooms are definitely small, but again, they are super clean and - as other reviewers mentioned - all of the bedding is very soft. We also had dinner at the hotel, which was very high quality. All of the ingredients are locally sourced, which makes it extra special. Things to know: 1. The food is expectedly pricey. Breakfast (super nice) is included, but our dinner was over CHF125 for the four of us even though we only got two meals. It is definitely worth it but a consideration to keep in mind. Of course, this wasn’t a surprise to us and we were just happy to get some local food. 2. There is a beautiful playground right across from the hotel, which was awesome for our children. They spent the afternoon there and met some local kids. I think the hotel should make a note of this - it was a special touch and does matter to some families. 3. There is a graveyard (with a church) right across the street. Our room was facing it. Not sure if anyone else would care but our kids didn’t exactly feel great about that :) Overall, I highly recommend - I would also note that everyone we met was SUPER nice and always went an extra step to make sure we are as comfortable as we can be. They all were happy to tell us about the town, their lives there, the food, nature. We wish we stayed longer.

Excellent stay for hikers on the Via Alpina red trail

Reviewed By Rehoboth5

Stopped here for the night as we hiked the Via Alpina red trail. It's located in gorgeous country, amongst a few buildings scattered across the foothills, with huge peaks all around. The building is half modern and half historic/traditional. We stayed in a traditional room, with only a candle providing light. It was beautiful and comfortable. The shared bathroom facilities down the hall were very clean and modern. The two young women in charge of the Berghaus that night were very professional, courteous and helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. One spoke almost flawless English, and the other one's English was pretty good. The dining room is very beautiful with traditional decor. Food was excellent, and plentiful. When we left in the morning, they provided us with "guest cards" that gave us free rides on a tiny bus that ran from Sulzfluh to St. Antonien.

Fantastic hospitality !

Reviewed By Aisling K

My husband and I arrived here exhausted and hungry after our first day's hiking in the Alps. We were checked in by John, the hard working , good humoured and warm host who runs the place brilliantly. He single handedly took orders for a full dining room, was working in the kitchen and served our delicious and generously portioned three course dinner.John insisted on us trying his home made Tiramisu which was yum.He still had time for a joke and a chat at every table! There is a lovely view of the mountains from the dining room too. Our room was basic but comfortable.Breakfast next morning was lovely too and John provided us with a very generous and tasty packed lunch to take with us when we left. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this friendly hotel and we were quite sad to be leaving and not staying for longer. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to other guests. Thanks to John for looking after us so well and being so attentive !
