Recently traveled to Columbia, SC for work with the University and had a recommendation from one of the professors to check out Halls Chophouse. Was.Not.Disappointed. Highlights: 1. The Back Bar. There's a secondary and much more intimate bar about halfway back in the restaurant. Jordan and Liz were simply exceptional on recommendations for wine and appetizers. This back bar was wonderful for enjoying conversations with various individuals who were waiting to be seated or who were having a final-final nightcap before concluding their evening. Can't recommend this back bar enough...2. At every turn, the service is exceptional - starts with the hostess, extends to the wait staff, bartenders, followed by the sommelier's recommendation on a delightful wine for one of their heavy-duty steaks - it's a luxury to have this level of first class service. Again, hats off to Jordan and Liz at the back bar for an exceptional evening. 3. Tuna (Appetizer) - huge portion and absolutely should be shared. I had their filet cut (12 ounces?) that was amazing along with some smashed potatoes that were served in their own skillet. If TSA didn't have their restrictions, I would have taken 5 lbs of those smashed potatoes home with me. One of the best steaks I've had and I'm from the middle of the country where we know a little bit about cows. This restaurant is a perfect spot for a romantic night out, a powerhouse business dinner, an end-of-night nightcap - it really checks all of the boxes - you won't be disappointed. Cheers!

For. A birthday celebration we were invited to join another couple. The salad bar was fresh with a huge selection of fruits and salads. After we had salads the meat choices began and kept coming. Most were excellent. The beef tenderloin was our favoriteand cooked to perfection. The horseradish sauce was excellent. The constant interruption by the meat servers was a little intrusive and annoying. But that’s the point and theme. The key lime pie was tasty to end the meal. Not that we needed more food but bread was not offered. Service was excellent. Thanks for the review. We are glad that enjoyed your visit to the restaurant. We will remind our staff to let all guests know that the dinner rolls are at the front of the salad bar. It’s normally covered, making it hard for the guests to see it.

Ruth's Chris was consistent with good food. Seafood was overcooked, yet edible. Steak was great. Server, Ina or Ana, was fantastic! She made up for any shortcomings. Ask for her.Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback for us, Sidney. I'm glad that you enjoyed your steak and that our service was top-notch. However, it's disappointing to hear that the seafood didn't make the same great impression. Should you wish to share any additional details about your concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me directly, (803) 212-6666. I always appreciate candid guest feedback so that we may continue to improve the guest experience and I hope we'll have the opportunity to show you a five star meal in the future.Best regards,Nate Krueger, General Manager

Kingsman Restaurant

Nothing fancy about the Kingsman, it's kind of a throwback to dining with a 70's sort of atmosphere. However, it may be the ticket if you are craving something substantial. They offer a great variety of steaks, burgers, sandwiches and other dishes, as well as side dishes. My wife got the beef tips which she pronounced excellent and they were cooked exactly to order. I got the hamburger steak with onions, peppers and mushrooms, a dish you can't get just anywhere these days, it it was also excellent. The salad was small and simple but very good, and the green beans were particularly tasty. Overall, the food was not only delicious but filling. If you leave hungry, you probably have a tapeworm. They also offer a full service bar offering beer, wine and mixed drinks and my wife got a very generous pour of red wine. The service was great even though the place was slammed. The waitress was polite, quick and attentive. I particularly appreciate that they bring the check to your table and you pay on the way out rather having to wait for her to make another pass around the dining room. The Kingsman is small but comfortable. It is probably not the choice for a quiet, intimate dining experience but it does provide a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. It's located in an old shopping center just across (Cayce side) the Blossom Street Bridge, so there is plenty of free parking. I highly recommend it, especially if you are looking for a serious carnivorous dining experience
