Booked online and missed call bk from owner. Rang back was told it was booked but would fit us in outside. We chose the seafood platter based on special occasion and pictures seen. The platter was a single plate, the lobster was 2 tiny finger strips and with a thick sauce, their wasn't alot for the $65per head! Drinks were expensive but staff were friendly.Hi Barbara L,Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you did not enjoy your Seafood Platter on your recent visit to our restaurant. We welcome all feedback and have taken your comments on board. Our Seafood Platter is our most popular dish on the menu, and we receive so much wonderful feedback on it so it saddens us to hear you did not enjoy it on this occasion. We source mainly local Australian Seafood for the platter which has the following quantities on it; 10 pieces of Australian Calamari 4 Australian Prawns 4 Scallops 2 Fillets of SA Garfish 1 Whole Soft Shell Crab2 Fillets of NT Barramundi 1 Rock Lobster Tail (not advertised as Crayfish) Plus your choice of potatoes or fries and garden salad, accompanying sauces & lemon We think that the price of local fresh seafood, and the quantities on the platter absolutely justifies the price of $65.00 per person. Thank you again for your feedback, and we sincerely hope that you come back and try something else next time you are in Glenelg. Many thanks,Nick CardoneOwnerCardone's Seafood & Grill

Oyster Bar Holdfast Shores

Reviewed By Michelle I

We came here 6 years ago and it was amazing. Today we ordered natural and Kilpatrick. The natural were great. However the Kilpatrick were disgusting. There was a really thick and sour sauce that beared no resemblance to worchestshire. Also the oysters under this sauce were ridiculously tiny. Hi Michelle I, Thank you for taking the time to review Oyster Bar Holdfastshores and also welcome back! We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your natural oysters however are disappointed to hear your feedback on our Kilpatrick oysters. I have passed on your feedback to our kitchen and management team who will use your comments to improve product and quality control. All feedback, positive and constructive, goes towards our staff training and should you return to us again I am confident that you will not be disappointed.

Clearly new management has taken over a previously award winning restaurant, without the necessary skilled staff. The "special" of the day was a $480 seafood platter, which could be reduced to only $360 with the removal of the lobster or crab.So expectations were high.Firstly the location and view is great! After that it went downhill. We ordered 250ml glasses of wine. The tide was certainly well out on that order. On the next table a gentleman ordered a quality aged whisky and received it in a long glass with a straw!!Then came our "trio of housemade dips". We asked the waiter what they were and he got 1 out of 3 correct. The tiny servings had clearly been in the fridge multiple days and were no longer fresh. Then came mains. We ordered a platter which allowed us to choose "any three" of 6 choices. After contemplating this decision for a while we were told that actually 2 are fixed and you choose only one, even if "any three" was written clearly on the menu and the same thing is also written on a Melbourne Cup promotion in 2 weeks time. The two fixed were grilled prawns[note the "s" on the end making it plural] and crumbed whiting. On arrival there was one prawn that must have been a week old. When queried the manager quickly rushed out a second small, unfresh prawn. Grilled octapus was not much better in the freshness stakes. The other main was a scotch fillet which was the best part of the meal. It came with cooked vegetables but unfortunately they forgot to cook the carrot.Again the manager humbly apologised, and gave us pre-printed vouchers saying "We are sorry you didn't enjoy the meal so here is a $50 voucher for your next visit".Clearly these vouchers were used regularly. We also received a free trio of deserts which were actually quite good!
