Tight spaces- the driveway, the parking , the room, Don't forget the siesta
Reviewed By Robert HWhen you drive in , you essentially have to back out into the main street because it is almost impossible to drive out the other direction. Even the hotel employee told me not to try. You have to pay 7.70 euros to gain access to the underground parking, You have to drive extremely slow and careful as the driveway is very narrow. My room is very small. I used the second bed to place my suitcase and carry on. I have no other space. If you want breakfast, you have to pay 5 euros. I was very lucky to check in when I did. Later on in the afternoon, I noticed the receptionist was gone. It was siesta time. You will be dead in the water until the guy shows up It took awhile for the hot water to show up. I thought I was going to have a lukewarm shower but eventually it got hot. The AC works great and it is quiet. The dinner/service within the hotel sucked. The food was edible and almost tasteless. The server was fairly rude but I guess that is normal in Spain.

Reviewed By digbyl177Just stayed for 3 nights. Rooms as spotless as always and a nice friendly reception. Simple but great value. This year is our 5th on the trot. Still finding plenty to do and took in a couple of services with the singing monks. Not sure how folks can moan in view of the value for money. Other places in town charge shed loads more and in our view aren't a patch.

Comfortable convent
Reviewed By Michael GWe stayed here for the night, after attending the Gregorian chant mass at the Monastery. The large convent is only just outside town, so theoretically walkable, but more comfortably a 5 minute drive by car in the summer heat. It has recently been fully and quite tastefully restored by a joint venture between the church and government (of Castilla y León). The en suite room was simple but modern and very clean and the location is very peaceful, especially if compared to being in the town.A feature of the hotel is that it is enormous compared to the level of occupancy and it is apparently designed for conventions. There were few, although enthusiastic,staff and the bar and restaurant were almost empty. Mind you, if you want a peaceful night in surroundings in keeping with Santo Domingo, this is not a problem (and there is plenty of good food available in town),although it is a tad expensive, all things considered. The car park has no shade from the sun, so there was a need to find a parking spot under the trees outside.

Reviewed By johnfX1850LXDoubtless an attractive and atmospheric old Manor House with the perfect location in a lovely village. And very pleasant staff. BUT we paid extra for a ‘superior’ room, even though the hotel was virtually empty. That got us a room overlooking the square, and a recently refurbished bathroom, but a bedroom with a tiled floor, old ( not antique) poor quality furniture, a worn out bed. We decided to eat in for the evening meal and try the milk-fed goat at €26, expecting it to be good given the other hotel advertises the same for €15. We shared a tiny leg, a little over- cooked and barely enough for one to eat. Served with stale bread. When I came to check my bill at the end I was shocked to find they charged me 2x€26! If just one of us had ordered goat it would have been impossible to divide it. They wouldn’t budge. Breakfast was shockingly bad - weak coffee, toasted stale bread from the night before, stale cakes. The place clearly trades on its location and appearance - but appearances can be deceiving. Best avoided.

A wonderful experience!
Reviewed By David BFrom the moment that we arrived, the people were very friendly, showing us to our clean, spacious room immediately. Our room was on the 2d floor overlooking a small river that runs past facing the town and one of the various churches. The town has many sites to visit of interest as well being situated in a lovely,natural spot. On top of the hill on the other side of the hotel is the ermita of the town. Although we weren't there for hiking, there were many visitors ready for a good walk in the country. After a comfortable nights sleep, we went down to a spacious, clean dining room where we had a breakfast of coffee, juice, and an entire barra of bread with jam or oil. When we prepared to pay, the server told us that the price was included in the price (which we hadn't realized when we booked. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates comfortable surroundings at an excellent value. I expect that we'll be back when we're in the area. Enjoy... David B. Madrid

Reviewed By jack MWaiting for about one hour for monastery to open we sat here and had coffee. Sitting and enjoying the sun on the deserted (no cars) Plaza Mayor of this little town was heaven. A great memory to create!

Reviewed By pilarg202017La dueña una mujer amable y atenta en todo momento. La casa limpia, con todo lo necesario y grande, admite mascotas. Se aparca sin problema a la puerta. Está a 2 minutos andando del monasterio. A nada del cementerio de Sad Hill y a 3,5km andando a la Yecla por un sendero que sale desde el monasterio, justo al lado de la casa está una puerta medieval. La zona es espectacular. En el restaurante Villa de Silos se desyuna muy bien y a buen precio. Muy recomendable la casa y la zona.
