Saint Simons Island Hotels | Places to Stay in Saint Simons Island

Enveloped by expansive beaches, moss-draped oaks, and salt marshes, Saint Simons Island, part of the Golden Isles chain near Brunswick, is a nearly 18 square mile island, once dominated by rice and cotton plantations. Today, it’s a recreation wonderland with superb championship golf courses, miles of bicycle paths, great fishing, historic sites, and excellent restaurants. If you love golf, you’ll love Saint Simons Island, which is home to the 18-hole King and Prince Golf Course and 27-hole Sea Palms Golf & Tennis Resort. Nearby are 234 more holes of golf at popular spots like the 63-hole Jekyll Island Golf Club and 36-hole Sea Island Golf Club. Anglers have lots of opportunities to fish in the rivers, tidal creeks, sounds and the Atlantic Ocean. You’ll find charters and guides at the Golden Isles Marina, and you can also fish off the St. Simons Island Pier and surf cast on stretches of beach on the island’s north end. For such a compact island, Saint Simons is brimming with historic sites. Don’t miss the Saint Simons Lighthouse, where you can climb the 129 steps for a magnificent view of the island; the Fort Frederica National Monument, which has remnants of the British fort built in the 1700s; and the Bloody Marsh Battle Site, where the Spanish defeated the British in 1742.

Our group of seven used the Sea Island Inn as our base to explore the Golden Isles for five days. We all were in complete agreement that the location, pool, beds and more were excellent but what really made the difference from other Inns and hotels was the outstanding friendliness and service , in a word - HOSPITALITY of all employees at the Inn and other Sea Island properties. It was my sixth stay with groups here and think it starts at the top- Emily Rose, Maggie Ireland, Racheal Brent along with Tara and Meredith at the front desk and all others at the front desk, breakfast servers, bartender and housekeepers. Highly recommend!

We had 2 different rooms as we added an additional night. Both rooms were great! Every room is different and has different owners. The staff was so friendly, helpful and accommodating! Would stay here every time I visit if available. Close to the park, pier, lighthouse, and shopping! The only complaint would be the parking. Very small spaces to park in.

Most Beautiful Resort!

Reviewed By cheyennew510

The Ocean Lodge Resort with its Spanish-Mediterranean style inside and out is one of the finest resorts we have ever stayed in! Our accommodations were in a premium suite for the 1st night on the 4th floor and the Penthouse suite on the 2nd night on the 5th floor. Both suites were large and of course the penthouse suite was even larger with a huge balcony with 2 sliding glass doors and an even better views to the neighborhood and the partial ocean view. All of the furnishings: couch, chairs, ottoman and bed was very comfortable with lovely high quality furnishings, art work, floor tile and woodwork! Loved the large full kitchen with eating island/bar in both suites that we stayed in. There were 2 tv’s in each suite, with one in the living room and one in the bedroom with streaming channels. Each suite we were in had 2 bathrooms; one bathroom had a shower and tub combo and the second bathroom had a shower with 2 shower heads styles to choose from; a hand-held and a stationary. Each bathroom had wonderful bottles of toiletries. The closet had an ironing board, a robe and slippers. Each suite also had a safe. There were no laundry facilities. We stayed on a Sunday and Monday the 1st week of May 2022 which was perfect since the 5th floor restaurant was closed on those days, therefore we had a very quiet stay, and was happy that we didn't have to hear any chatter coming from diners, plus the weather was perfect during our stay! The parking was free and is conveniently located on the 1st level of the resort with the elevator and luggage cart right there. The resort staff was very welcoming and accommodating! The resort is in a lovely neighborhood with a few minutes walk to the beach. The suites were very clean and we saw no bugs during our stay. We are extremely happy that we chose this beautiful property and will definitely plan on coming back to this lovely island and resort!

Amazing hotel!

Sparkling clean, new, lovely hotel on top of a small airport. Stayed several nights and we were not disturbed by any airplane noise. We used all the amenities--the guest laundry, small but refreshing pool and enjoyed breakfast daily. Most special about this hotel was how outgoing and friendly all the staff were, especially Win at the front desk. This hotel could give lessons in how to treat their guests right!

Beautiful location, but food and service need work

Reviewed By Wendiggitty

The location and inn itself are beautiful. We stayed for 3 nights at this inn. I was hoping for a more personal bed & breakfast, but this is more like an upscale hotel for couples. The woman that greeted us was flippant and told us to "have fun" at least 6 times in the 5 minutes she showed us around - seemingly wanting to free herself from us. A family of three, we opted for the Tree Top room because it had a fold down futon for our son. The room and bathroom were very clean. The kitchenette was a nice feature, but the dishes were less than clean. The microwave had a drawer/oven for frozen pizzas which was very useful. When I went to make up the futon with the bedding provided, the blanket had been obviously used, and smelled as such. The unclean dishes and blanket could have easily gone unnoticed by housekeeping if they were put away by previous guests, so I cannot fault anyone for that. Food was OK at best. After each breakfast meal you choose from a list of 5 options for the following mornings breakfast. The first morning my husband and I ordered eggs benedict which was served cold. The second morning we each had the pecan waffle, which was a bit dry, but OK. The third morning we had "made to order" omlets. Order was wrong (I had asked for spinach). Bacon was substituted for spinach in the omlet, with 6 pieces of bacon on the side. Now, I normally love bacon, but this was ridiculous! So very, very salty! Packed with bacon, with salt and pepper on the top. I couldn't eat it, and staff asked how it was since I was obviously picking all the bacon out of it, so I told her honestly. She replied with how she was glad I told her, but didn't offer anything more, and came back from the kitchen with a small bottle of water to compensate! Why couldn't she offer me something else to eat?? I left there terribly hungry and very disappointed in my experience. Since we were expecting a bed AND breakfast, service and food should be better. I won't be returning here.
