Spring time in the Alps at this little gem of a place

Reviewed By leannet263

Came for the Easter weekend, most places in our budget range were fullty booked. So this hostel popped up but I had my reservations being an older couple who have had our fair share of hostels. Anyway...we booked, we liked it and we highly recommend it. Cosy bar / restaurant with nice views, mixture of different types of people. Nice but basic rooms (it's a hostel). Friendly staff with a chilled singer some nights. Good cleaning standards. My only complaint would be the shower. It was basically a shower head and no holder. Great if you like in sat down showers.

Wonderful hotel and lovely staff

We stayed for a week as a family of 5 and as party of a larger group of 15. After an eventful journey to the resort, the staff could not have been more helpful to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable for the rest of the week. From the front of house, reception, food and beverage to housekeeping, all the team at Altapura were attentive and the service provided was very good . Rooms and food were great. We stayed half board. The hotel's location being right on the slopes and close to the ski schools couldn't have me our holiday more convenient.

Everything was easy and nothing was complicated

We absolutely loved the place. We arrived in the middle of the night due to a cancelled/delayed flight, but it was no problem at all. Very clear and pleasant communication with Sébastien. The location of the hotel is great. Just next to the ski rental shops, in the centre of the village. The slopes are very close as well. It was great to be able to park the car in the parking garage just at the other side of the street. (This is very rare for Val Thorens). Don’t forget to make a reservation though. The spa was lovely. A jacuzzi, steam bath and sauna, a shower, relaxing sofas and possibility to cool down outside. Free towels and very comfy bath robes. The view from the restaurant and rooms is very nice, and the food in the restaurant from chef Sebastiaan was fantastic. The service was excellent. Very nice breakfast too ! If there is anything “less positive” to say about this hotel, the only thing I can think of is that there is no elevator, only stairs. So I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to people that have serious troubles with their mobility. For us, the stairs were no problem at all. Maybe even a plus because elevators usually make quite some noise. This hotel is nice and quiet. Last but definitely not least: the personnel was very very friendly and they helped us out with any type of question or demand. We definitely recommend this hotel and we will definitely come back here in the future. A huge thank you to Sébastien, Delphine and all other personnel. Enjoy your well deserved inter-seasonal break !

Hotel Pashmina

The end of the earth…right next door to home. Hotel Pashmina wises for one thing only : to create a peaceful haven for its guests, a break from daily life and for them to be transported into a new world. For each of the hotel’s five stars we will make five promises to all of our guests : relaxation, excellent family atmosphere, unbeatable luxury, escape and an exceptionally memorable holiday. A luxury refuge This expression may seem contradictory in essence. When we speak of a « refuge », we generally invoke ideas of danger, outdoor mountain living and makeshift accommodation. However, a « refuge » can also be an area where we feel safe, at ease, far from daily troubles…a refuge is a shelter, a cocoon, an oasis in the centre of the desert, or why not a temple on the very top of the mountain, a room with a view out over the horizon ? The experience offered by hotel Pashmina is a simple one : exclusive luxury in a mountain resort.

No SERVICE

Reviewed By C2055DEpatrickk

Hotel Pashmina is a fantastic hotel. We enjoyed every minute of it. There was only one thing what spoiled everything. The service level of the staff. Especially in the restaurant and Spa. Breakfast; They almost asked us to leave the breakfast room. So they could eat from the buffet. A very bad rule. It happened that we felt guilty to pick something because we saw in there eyes that they wanted it! SPA; The SPA area was very good. But also here the service of the staff was very bad. The sauna was open until 20.30. Every day they shut it down at 20.00 to win time leaving early There was also no at the pool while children were swimming. A very serious mistake! For us the sauna was one of the reasons to book this hotel. So we were very disappointed. We decided to book another hotel next year!!

Lovely stay in cozy hotel

Our family of four stayed at le Sherpa for a week of Easter skiing. If possible, I would give this hotel a 4.5, with a half point discount for the rooms being a bit dated and the wi-fi being very weak. We had opted for the half board and were not disappointed. Most nights there were five course dinners consisting of a soup, a choice of two appetizers, a choice of 3 main courses (a meat course, a fish course, and a vegetarian option), a cheese tray, and then a desert or a desert buffet. One evening there was raclette, and one or two other evenings there was another locally themed dinner. We didn't take advantage of it, but they also had kids options. Breakfast was also good, the typical options you would expect at a ski hotel. Someone complained in an earlier review that the hotel wasn't truly ski out because you had to walk up a hill. It's true that there's a small climb, but it's only a small uphill, and if you can't manage that you're probably in no shape to be skiing at all. The only thing to note is that, as the hotel is pretty high up in the resort you have to get high up in the system to catch the right transport stretch to ski back in. This isn't a problem, it just takes some thinking ahead on your return. My only complaint is that the Wi-Fi in the hotel was really bad. I had planned to do a little bit of work while there and had to scrap those plans. Video conferences were impossible, even with the video turned off. My VPN kept cutting out and took so long yo re-establish that it just wasn't worth trying. I would happily return to this hotel, but wouldn't plan to do any work while there!

The Perfect Ski Hotel

Reviewed By Dave123abc

Far and away the best ski hotel I’ve stayed in; having woken up the second morning and checked I wasn’t dreaming, we booked for next year :-) Worth noting that the hotel was completely refurbished and changed owners in 2020, so reviews before then don’t reflect the current business. *Fantastic friendly, helpful staff. Despite it being the last week of the season and very busy, they were cheery and helpful at all times. * Location right on the edge of the ski run - 20m from boot room to slope and vice versa. A one minute ski down an easy green to croisettes for ski school meeting point. * Great indoor/outdoor pool, and spa facilities. * Well decorated rooms, with good facilities including Nespresso machines and decent TV set, as well as fluffy bathrobes and slippers. * A good amount of communal space - a lounge, library and games room. Although the rooms are relatively compact, the communal space more than compensated. * Proper buffet breakfast, with plenty of hot options as well as fruit, cold meat, pastries. Not just continental! * Dinner buffet with a chocolate fountain - kept the kids very happy. * Free hot chocolate and pastries during the day. * Boot dryers in the ski lockers. * Shower and changing room for anyone who wants to ski on first/last day. All the staff were absolutely wonderful - replacing lost ski locker keys, providing spare bathrobes, recommendations for local restaurants, advice on getting a pizza delivered when the kids were hungry after a day of skiing - nothing was too much trouble. Room tips: The duplex rooms have a separate upstairs room with the single kids beds in, but although it’s upstairs, there’s no separating door so there is some noise transmission between the downstairs and upstairs rooms. Slight downside of the duplex rooms is there’s only space for 3 pairs of boots in the ski locker, but there is a separate communal drying rack you can also use. The communicating rooms have one locking door into a small hallway, then two (individually locking) rooms off that, it’s a bit nicer than the usual hotel setup of “two rooms with a door in the wall between them”, tho all the communicating rooms are on the side of the hotel with a (relatively) poorer view. They are slightly separate from the other rooms, and relatively quiet. Standard family rooms have a couple of bunks for the kids, with curtains across each bunk. Rooms on the front (south) of the hotel have the best view, followed by those on the east side, then those on the west.

Great Hotel

Reviewed By Hannahhhhhh574

This is a great hotel in a great location, the ski in ski out is perfect and the general decor of the hotel was really modern and had cute little features like a Bluetooth radio in the rooms and rituals shampoo and shower gel. Our room was cleaned everyday and the general cleanliness of the hotel was great, couldn’t fault it. They have a DJ outside on the terrace most days which was lovely to have a drink and look at the views with good music in the background. The staff were really lovely and friendly, my only fault would be that they seemed slightly understaffed but this could be because of covid and the staff that were working seemed run off their feet trying to accommodate everyone. The breakfast buffet had a great selection, something for everyone. The dinner menu was also good, it had a big selection, a whole page of pizzas, some pasta dishes, some meat dishes and other stuff, I thought the food was really good and for a half board option I was pleasantly surprised. I’d definitely come back to this hotel I think it was worth the money and you couldn’t get a better location. It was just a shame they were slightly understaffed but could be covid related so you can’t blame anyone.
