Reviewed By W4896FRandreasdWe arrive in the late afternoon, after a long drive. It was raining heavily and we were mesmerized the moment we drove into the property. The gardens are beautiful. We were greeted promptly with umbrellas and showed into the main building. Check-in was very fast and everything explained, including the what we could do and see the next day. The luggage was promptly brought up to the rooms. We had two interconnected single room, each individually decorated in Art Deco style. This gave a special charm to the Hotel. We noticed the calm of the place, one only hears the birds singing. Fully functional bathrooms. There is a restaurant on-site, we had a delicious three course menu. Interesting combinations of ingredients. Breakfast was also delicious. Fresh pastry, eggs made as you wish. Then we were off to explore Saint-Jean. There is beautiful walk along the coast that leads to a beach with a nice botanical garden to explore. We also swam in the pool, which is heated. All in all a fantastic stay with a lotto discover. Everyone was very friendly.

Reviewed By Christine BWe stayed in the delightful hotel on the sea at the end of a two week trip through France. Our seaside room on the second floor with a spacious balcony was ideal. We could sleep to the sound of gentle waves or have our coffee as saint jean de luz woke up. The front desk was helpful and the full buffet breakfast was delicious. It was a perfect way to wrap up our trip!

IDEAL Location, Amazing Customer Care, & the Price was Right!
Reviewed By jaymaygoFirst and foremost, the woman who runs the property, Claudette was such a joy! She was so warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable regarding the area/places to go. Claudette was also super responsive prior to the trip via phone and email (had some booking snafus' on my end - nothing to do with the property, she did everything to reassure me). She even called me a couple days before to let me know she'd upgraded our room at no extra cost so we could have one of the rooms on the back of the hotel with a gorgeous terrace! The property itself is in the MOST convenient location. We took the train and the walk to the property was 10 mins total. Rue de la Republique is where the action is in terms of all the yummy places to eat. It's also yards away from the beach...literally 1 mins from the front door of the hotel to the main beach. It is also a 2 mins walk from the front door of the hotel to Place de Louis XIV where there's always music playing and plenty of outdoor spots to enjoy some rose! Hotel Txoko (pronounced TCh-o-ckau) was steps away from the main shopping drag as well. The rooms were so clean and the ideal size. I stayed there with my boyfriend for 2 nights and 3 days. They had AC that actually kept the room cool because it can be quite humid this time of year...also AC in France is not a common well working thing in hotels I've found so this was a bonus. We also opted for the 12 Euro breakfast on the last day which was super yummy. We each had a croissant, pain au chocolat, bowl of seasonal fruit, OJ, coffee, and the local cheese and jambon. It rained our last day so it was super convenient to be able to enjoy breakfast before catching our train. All in all, I HIGHLY recommend choosing Hotel Txoko as your stay while in the beautiful Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Claudette and her team are a joy to interact with. Mostly recommend staying here as a solo traveler, couple, or family of 3. I also cannot stress this enough but ask for the rooms with the private Terrace on the back of the property - quieter and lovely to sit outside!

great little hotel, close to beach
Reviewed By AfromLThis is a great little hotel, at just a short walking distance to the beach. We had 2 rooms next to each other. Both had high ceilings and were comfortable. The breakfast was nice enough, though marred by covid complications. The town is great for restaurants and in August we found it too busy at the beach, but it is a very nice place for a stopover on a longer trip.

Nice hotel on outskirts of Saint Jean de Luz
Reviewed By MaximuslonghaulWe stayed for a long weekend at the end of June. The hotel is well located to explore St Jean de Luz and the surrounding area. A bit far out of the centre but maybe the bus service could help (we did not try it). We walked into town and back which took around 40mins each way, with some hills on the way. Easy walking to the beach and a couple of other restaurants/bars. Generally a quiet location despite being very close to the rail line and autoroute. The room was a good size and well maintained. Wifi was surprisingly good. Great idea to have carpeted floors, as it helps to reduce noise and is more comfortable on the feet. In general the room was quite well insulated from the noise of any neighbours. Nice balcony and open view especially as we were on the top floor. A bit noisy at times from the access road below. The noise from the refuse collection was very intrusive especially as they arrived at 0640 one morning and 0715 another. Is it impossible to move the collection time to after 08:00? Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool looked very good although we did not use it . Breakfast was a little disappointing for 11 euros . Dinner was much better. We would definitely consider a return visit if we could get a pool view/ocean side room.

Nice hotel, great location
Reviewed By Leon MThe hotel is directly across from the train station and a few feet from the bus station. We stayed in a standard double (room 38), located on the back side of the hotel. It has a city/street view, but is relatively quiet. The exception being an odd bar/pub nearby which is open 2300-0400...very quiet till about 0145 when patrons of other bars come calling. The, good news is that the room's close d windows block out the noise. The room was clean, modern; bed firm but nice; bathroom/shower modern. There is a safe in room, but A/C was not working although wall switch present. A room fan was provided. Breakfast was 8 Euro per person, coffee, tea, juice, bread, croissant, yogurt and fruit. There are nice coffee shops and bakeries nearby if one cares to venture out for breakfast. A few minor touches could raise this to a five star, but a solid place to stay and very convenient.

Reviewed By Sebastien CWe spent 3 nights in this hotel that is close to the beach. The room was quite small and the bathroom was so.so (small, old furniture, humid). No risk you intend spending hours in yr room! There is no a/c that forces to let all windows open. When you know there is a night pub 50m further, I let you imagine how it is difficult to have a quiet night. The bedding would require to be replaced soon. And all this for high price... I do not recommend this place!

Reviewed By DanP669Hotel Chantaco is a nice hotel, our room was very nice freshly painted. Some of our friends told us that their room were not renovated. In amy event what made this hotel special was the great service. We celebrated my wife birthday in the hotel, and the staff was very supportive in organizing everything before we arrived. Is hard to find this level of service in any hotel!!!
