Quite good

Reviewed By lovemanger

Because of fairly mixed reviews, I had expectations pretty low. The surprise is I found the hotel rather good both for services and decors. It's literally on the moot of the castle and has a fantastic view with light on at night, reflecting water and surrounding trees. True, the building is a bit tired but not so much so that comments talk about it. I'm pretty satisfied.

Standard japanese hotel

Standard Japanese hotel so the rooms were small but clean, and basic amenities provided. WIFI however was really bad. And even though their parking was really spacious, you had to pay 700yen for it. There might be cheaper parking nearby if you try looking. Staff at the reception were friendly though.

Would have been perfect should we have booked a bigger room

Check in was not so smooth as it took us more than half an hour. Though the rest of us got to stay in the lounge while waiting for the process which involved being asked the same questions 3 times. But the staff had our best interest in mind so at the end of it, it was all settled and happy. The room was smaller than expected but we are pleased with the materials used in the decor. My preschool son particularly loved how he could watch TV while taking a bath. I like how clean the bathroom counter was. One weird thing though was the clothes rack - the room was so mall that we could barely put our 3 thick coats into the closet... The lounge provided small snacks and all sorts of free drinks. Our family enjoyed visiting there a lot. It connected to the teppanyaki dining room where they served breakfast as well. We loved their Japanese breakfast and the long list of complimentary beverages and other a la carte like pancakes and fruits which can be reordered until you are full. It would have been a much better experience had it not been raining and cold.

Convenient location, good service, hot bath, big room (in Japanese standard). hard /stiff bed which I like.

Right in front of JR saga station and bus terminal. Many small restaurants and pubs are around, mostly on the side streets. Room was comfortably big. A good surprise was the big hot bath on the ground floor, open during night and also early morning. Breakfast was ok, serving both Japanese and some western: coffee was ok, to our surprise. Service was very good.

Good Service, Good Spa but not the best in the region

Reviewed By Guide646356

My family embarked on a 5 day, onsen hotel hopping and ended at Oncri for our final night. Of all the places we stayed, this place was definitely the most underwhelming in terms of food and hot spring. Note, the service and cleanliness were top notch. Food: The food was less intricate and not as thoughtful. Highlights: the sashimi and meat main. Cons: ayu was too salty to the point of being inedible (a shame cause it’s such a good fish), the seafood hotpot was flavorless, shrimp slightly overcooked. Restaurant is slightly understaffed. Hotspring: The spa was good, however, I really disliked the strong chlorine smell on the inside (and yea.. I understand it’s needed for the inside spa where the water is circulated, just kind of sad cause for it the smell was too overpowering). The outside pools is gorgeous and well designed. The biggest sticking point for me was the water quality, it lacked the heavy mineral quality that makes your skin feel extremely smooth inside and outside the water. The other places I stayed definitely outshone Oncri
