Mas Miserabile!

Reviewed By Stephen T

when we go as guests at a place everything looks like a paradise, but only to realize that after 3 days the fish smell too bad, strong and dirty to stay longer, especially in this motel. Very deceived to find out many truths. An advice from a wise, give the tip straight in the hand of the volunteers, DON'T leave them in the room. And voila why: A gold-digging couple owned house who knows how to scratch well the back of their third world country young, innocent, "naive" slaves on cheap labor exposure of their Duck stingy luxury by giving the slavery food, cheap money, outside showers only in exchange of too little for 24/7 non stop service. The worst part, owner gets to rush to rooms, take off the sheets and steal the tips, and "chapeau", let the interns clean with fingers in the mouth, starving to death, sweat and hardwork as they don't have time to eat or sleep properly, or even run for the tips... All the cleaned/dirty rooms you see and positive reviews are only and merely thankful to those extremely hardworking volunteers, slaves as they don't even declare them properly to pay their taxes, but prefer to call them "interns", which in fact they're NOT. The owners take these "volunteers" from far away countries, not even EU, so they'd have no choice but to put up with any "schips" the Duchk owners offer them and won't be able to be back home soon or even be able to quit so soon. But poor them, can't say anything in return but "arbeit macht frei"! Otherwise, they will bury their heads to their ground or get them a back home-away flight with their own hard work ticket, even when falling sick, falling apart, who cares, to them is all the same, just another brick, a far away from home poor, miserable Victorian Hugo immigrant, a slave in the wall. The owner aims "cleanliness, paid service from clients" but then the house is so big and understaffed, by tormenting the volunteers in order to satisfy our wishes. This is not satisfying to find out that volunteers are abused and are forced to smile even when they're not able to pull the leg anymore. In such a place, I don't want to wake up at all and give my money to business owners who have no moralities of empathy but pretend to be nice just because I or any costumer brings them money. If they take money from costumers they should also pay enough employees to satisfy them good and be able meet the costs that come with it, but not profit from them and use them into slavery.

Beautiful location with a great host.

As a young, solo traveler it was great for me to have such a friendly, helpful host to help me find the best places to visit and help me to get to see all the best the area has to offer. I really enjoyed my stay here, it was a nice warm place to come home to after great days. Beautiful house and property, with the river right beside. Very comfortable room with a bathroom attached. Definitely recommend Le Mas Roquemiaine if you have kids, as I've seen the kids room and i know i would love to be a bit younger so i could sleep in there :) Overall, Great stay with great company and a comfortable environment, close to all the things you'd want to see.

Booking experience only - not great

Reviewed By Simba1994

To much messing around. Booked at the start of the year well in dance. First advised the room I booked wasn’t available and there the next room was £100 more , not ideal when your on your own but I accepted it. Then I got another message asking if I was still coming due to Covid , fine said I would as I feel it’s important to support tourism. Then got another long winded message asking me to bring my own towels and bedding????? Kept using this word protocols???? After calling around other local accommodations it’s clear there was no need to bring your own towels and bedding - not my idea of a holiday either. I asked the Property about reducing the room rate back to the rate of the first room - only fair to me if I’m bringing my own stuff and doing my own laundry after. Then got yet another long winded message with a different tone - basically asking me to cancel only a few weeks before I’m due to go, and that it’s their other customers asking to bring their own bedding and towels??? Doubt that! Anyway I couldn’t be bothered with The nonsense of it all. If your so worried about Covid 19 then don’t own your doors. for travellers don’t travel as there’s little social distancing from what Iv seen. Masks are worn indoors part of the time that’s it I booked somewhere else equally nice that laughed when I old them about this experience, needless to say I didn’t need to bring my own bedding and towels. I would only expect to do that in some low grade hostels. Can’t comment on anything else. Thanks anyway B

A perfect retreat

Reviewed By ES1987-AH

We spent 2 nights at Le Haut des Laous, and wish we could have had longer. The room was immaculate and even nicer than in the photos (we had the larger room which overlooked the boules court). Our host Agnese was incredibly friendly and welcoming - she provided us with a welcome drink and food on arrival, and introduced us to the two resident dogs, Forrest and Havanna. The setting is outstanding, surrounded by mountains, fruit trees and a view down to the sea. The pool and the peaceful location made it an ideal and relaxing escape, and we couldn't recommend it highly enough. It is in a very isolated location, although the amenities in Roquefort les Pins are a short drive (or 40 minute walk) away. We will definitely return for longer next time!
