It does not lie within any Verbandsgemeinde, even though it is the seat of the like-named Verbandsgemeinde. Bad Kreuznach is a spa town and the seat of several courts as well as federal and state authorities. Bad Kreuznach is also officially a große kreisangehörige Stadt ("large town belonging to a district"), meaning that it does not have the district-level powers that kreisfreie Städte ("district-free towns/cities") enjoy. It is, nonetheless, the district seat, and also the seat of the state chamber of commerce for Rhineland-Palatinate. It is classed as a middle centre with some functions of an upper centre, making it the administrative, cultural and economic hub of a region with more than 150,000 inhabitants. Moreover, the town and the surrounding areas are renowned both nationally and internationally for their wines, especially from the Riesling, Silvaner and Müller-Thurgau grape varieties.

On our way through the historic city of Bad Kreuznach, just a stone's throw from the famous Brückenhauser; (Bridge Houses) the Restaurant Akropolis offers a nice change from the traditional German fare cuisine. We have Greek friends and they recommend the entire menu any day of the week. I had the Moussaka, and it reminded me of our trip to Athens. Loved it!

My son-in-law and I are foodies and my son-in-law summed it up when he said, "I can't believe we had to come to Germany to get the best Greek food I've ever tasted." Portions were very generous - we ordered the family dinner for 4 and split it between 4 hungry adults and 2 teenage boys. We ate there twice - always good and very helpful. We had a lot of fun talking to the owner when she (Vicky) wasn't busy. A shot of ouzo is included with dinner so if you think you won't drink it, let them know. My husband and daughter hate black licorice and gave their drinks to son-in-law. He took a good nap after supper. I would go out of my way to eat there again.

I went there with my mother on a late Sunday afternoon the Beergarten was open and we had a very enjoyable time there. The service was excellent and the food great, the portions were good and the price was right.

Wir waren mit Freunden abends im El Greco, da wir es im Schlemmerblock gefunden hatten. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich, die Karte war für einen Griechen üblich, sehr Fleisch lastig aber umfangreich. Wir saÃen im Garten, im Restaurant war gerade eine geschlossene Gesellschaft. Das Essen ist schmackhaft und von den Portionen sehr groÃ.AuÃer, dass es kein Apfelsaftschorle gab und auch kein stilles Wasser verfügbar war, hatten wir einen sehr schönen Abend.
