One of the worst camp sites I have ever stayed in!!

Reviewed By Angela S

On arrival the site looks run down. The pitches were not suitable for tents. The pitches were stone and it was difficult to get the pegs in. The pitch we were sent to was already occupied! The owner wasn’t that helpful after we’d spent over an hour trying to peg in the tent. The bar and entertainment were appalling! Only plastic glasses available for drinks. Pitches were cramped together. No positives for this site! This was the more expensive than other sites we had stayed at this week. We did not enjoy our stay!

Great campsite away from the crowded coast!

Reviewed By Rockchickpmc

Camped for a week this summer with teens and younger child. Good entertainments if not a little loud in the evening but stops at 11pm without fault. Nice pool with slide, too few sun loungers, and too many people reserving them with towels and not using them!!! You need a car but the beaches are not too far away. Fabulous fro trail running and moutain biking directly from the campsite. Would go again. Good value for money

Had a great time at taxo le pins at end of September, the site was fairly quiet at this time of year, the mobile home was very basic but clean, the pool area is the main highlight of this site, lots of sun beds very clean and well kept, the bar and restaurant closed the weekend we were there so no idea what the food was like an ideal location for a relaxing break.

Pretty site

Reviewed By bill h

We enjoyed our stay and this is one of the prettiest little sites we have stayed on in the 12 weeks we have been traveling. The site is convenient for the beach and all the bars and restaurants but the snack bar on site wasn’t open so we had to go outside for bread and coffee. The pitches are small and a bit difficult to access but the hedging and trees make it quite private . It’s also nice and quiet especially at night, people were respectful of others . The pool was lovely. Though it got very crowded and sun beds with umbrellas were in demand. We found it difficult to find the waste recycling, water points and the grey waste disposal as the map they provided wasn’t very helpful. My biggest complaint was the toilet and shower block which was very clean but: It was shared Men and women and the toilet cubicle was separated from the shower at its rear by a thin sheet of ply. In front of the toilet cubicle we’re the sinks where people were trying to wash their dishes. This lack of privacy was embarrassing. The toilets themselves had no seats, no toilet paper and the sinks had no soap or hand towels. The water in the sinks was only ever Luke warm though the showers we hot but small and as they were unisex the door had to be kept closed. The chemical toilet disposal point was in the last cubicle at the back so you had to carry the waste a long way past other people using the facilities. This all let the site down and it’s a shame. I have no problem with shared facilities but they should offer a reasonable level of privacy and these didn’t. Apart from that, a lovely site in a great place. But be advised, this isn’t a site that targets English speakers. The restaurants and bars make no attempt to translate their menu into English so without a little French, it can be confusing.

Horrendous customer service and one ruined holiday

We arrived at the site to be put on a pitch that was too small, even though we stated what size our tent was. Apparently the pitch was 11x8 however as there was a tree in the centre of it there was no way our 10x5 tent would fit! we were then offered another pitch on which the tent just fitted then told after they’d watched us set up to have to move again. On asking for a refund as the third pitch was even smaller we were told that was fine and was offered €670 refund to be given a €610 one. Campsite refuses to answer any emails and parent group flower campings are not interested. Staff were exceptionally rude and just laughed amongst themselves. Food at the takeaway is exceptionally expensive and inedible. Toilet and shower facilities and pool area were also quite dirty. Over 1000 miles driven over two days to get to the site and site owners did not care!!

Too many bungalows pushed into a small space

Reviewed By 740wendyr

Chose this campsite because it's one of the few within walking distance to the beach and le Racou is still relatively unspoilt. When we arrived I was horrified at the number of bungalows pushed into every available space, especially as we were paying €1,900 for 2 weeks. I later discovered that there were various prices for more or less the same thing, depending on who you booked with! From our terrace we looked on to our car, the wall of the next bungalow, 1 metre away, and next door's terrace, also 1 metre away. If a gas bottle should explode, it would be a disaster. I'm surprised fire regulations permit so many bungalows in such close proximity. The site is well looked after and the staff are extremely efficient and helpful. Another problem was the swimming pool. Yes lovely, but over run by children all the time. I quite understand that they are on holiday and want to enjoy themselves, but surely adults have some rights too. How about a couple of hours a day 'adults only'? Very good restaurant. The best in le Racou.
