I was looking for somewhere to lunch in the old dock area of Bilbao before catching the ferry home. I'd walked around the Getxo area and really liked it, I'd also noticed some possible restaurants to eat in. So I did some research and thought this looked like the best option, though several people said it was pricey. We ignored the a la carte menu, which I will agree, did look expensive and simply opted for the menu del día at 18€ each. You do need to ask for it, as it wasn't offered spontaneously, though it is written on the blackboard downstairs and was another of the reasons we chose this restaurant. For 18€ you get a starter, main dish, dessert, bread and a bottle of wine between you. The food was delicious and in just the right quantities: I had a delicious tuna salad which was large enough for a main meal, complete with white asparagus, tomatoes and so on, followed up by escalopes in a port sauce and finished off with a Catalan cream. It really was excellent food. The only additional cost was coffee and tax of around 10%.The service was quirky: once seated, you are left to your own devices and gradually you realise that the waitress deals with a table completely, turning to the next table once she has put your order in. Everything happens very quickly after that! Once your plates are scooped up, you know the food is on its way! The waitress was in fact very helpful, sorting out an English translation of the menu del día and explaining it. It also helped when another waitress arrived and things speeded up. I would most certainly eat here again, it's in a nice location and the interior of the restaurant is very attractive too.

Living at Bilbao, I do not need a hotel, however recently we had a dinner party there in the lovely restaurant to give farewell to one of our friends. We entered with high expectations, but left the place quite disappointed for several reasons.Service was o.k., however none of the waiters cared to fill up the glasses later on.The entrance dishes were up to expectations, but the main course was some sort of a pitfall. It consisted of a grilled rape (devilfish) with a side dish of fine cut chipirones in su tinta (calamaries in their ink). The devilfish was dry - most probably deep frozen, the chipirones quite hard. If I would have cooked this at home, I would have said: not my best day...The dessert again was one of these "industrial-type" cakes, nothing special. The worst of all was the mens lavatory, just a mess. So I complained at one of the waitresses.Later on we went to the bar and dancing place. As there were a lot of persons present, temperature was quite high and combined with the high humidity it was quite uncomfortable. I asked the barman to increase the air-conditioning or to open a door. He told me hat air-conditioning was already at maximum and the door can not be opened because it is broken.Needless to say, the door was labelled as emergency exit...Any further question?

We went for lunch. Most restaurants in Europe have menus in English in addition to their native menus. This one did not. We lost a little in the translation. Any small substitutions we asked for were met by the waitress saying "it would be too difficult". So we ended up with some weird concoctions. It was very basic inside too. weill not be back to this one.

The concierge recommended this restaurant for fresh seafood so we went there on our first evening. When we saw the interior we were on the point of leaving again but thought better of it, for lack of alternatives in Santurtzi. If you can put up with the plastic retro interior design, you get some decent seafood although nothing noteworthy. And don't count on anyone speaking English (or any language other than Spanish for that matter).

From the very beginning on the phone we noticed the good servive of the restaurant. Little details make sometimes the difference. We request a table looking to the window in order to admire the view of El Abra, thank you John. It was a nice surprise when we arrived, they had prepared the best seating for us. We enjoyed the daily menu of 18,50€, water and a bottle of wine for 2 was included, added to a complimentary croquete, starter , main course and dessert. High quality product and a tasteful presentation in every dish. Great place to celebrate and relax.Thank you so much Adirane for your comment, hoping to see you back again, have a nice day.

After reading the other reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to give Pulcinella a try. We walked 1.25 miles to the location shown on the map on Trip Advisor and on the restaurants own web site only to find it wasn't there. We eventually discovered it was within 100m of where we had started, close to the Puente Colgante. We never got to try the food as the waiter was so rude and unhelpful that we walked out half way through ordering. We will never go there again.

We took a day trip out of Bilbao and stopped at this place after reading TripAdvisor reviews. It is just a neighbourhood bar but the food was great. There are pintxos for €1 on the bar but we went for raciones including delicious and perfectly cooked solomillo and lovely muscles cabredos in a spicy sauce. A real surprise and highly recommended.

What a marvelous restaurant! We visited Bilbao for a wedding which then held their reception at this really nice spot. Right on Bilbao’s beach with gorgeous sunsets most nights, this restaurant excels in providing yummy, exquisite food. Over three days, we ate a late lunch and a dinner in the dining room, and then were treated to a 6-course feast at the wedding reception. Every meal, every item served was well prepared, presented nicely, and was wonderfully tasty. We are planning a cruise that will see us in Bilbao next spring and we WILL eat here again! If you have the option for a place to eat in the area surrounding Bilbao, choosing Tamarises Izarra will make you very happy!

We visited to take a drink and some pintxos, due to the weather being unseasonably warm, the restaurant was busy, & it was after the traditional lunch service time.We waited at a table on the terrace and were ignored, therefore went inside to order at the bar, again we were ignored and no-one to serve us. Once I caught the eye of a waiter, I was snapped at by a very rude bald headed waiter,"the restaurant diners come first". Eventually got served and had very nice Pintxos, had to ask for ice for one drink and got rolling eyes treatment. Won't be returning & have a very big family living in Santurtzi, whom I'm assured won't be returning.
